This album requires a straight through listen. No stops or skips. The transitions melt each song into the next and the sequencing is immaculate. You broke my heart when you skipped Virgo’s groove. 😭
when he did that it broke my soul
Virgos Groove is the best song
he literally didn't skip Virgo's Groove?
it literally feels like a one hour song
@@Sylveonny233 It could have gone on forever and still sound pleasing to the ear.
Easily AOTY for me, the listen gets richer each time its crazy actually how she consistently beats her only real competition which is herself.
you gotta be kidding aoty? how? how in the world?
Too bad the lyrics are as thin as paper most of the time.
I really didn’t enjoy the album anywhere as much as you lol. It’s ok. It’s average. Rather nice production but Beyoncé just doesn’t do it for me.
The album cover is the best thing about the album.
AOTY for me too I loved it... some of you are forcing yourselves to hate this album and it's honestly embarrassing 🤭💀
15:57 basically in this song Beyoncé is saying, “I’m the baddest bitch in America and I’m THEE problem” In this essay I will…
That transition from Cuff it to Energy to Break my soul is the most beautiful thing I‘ve heard in an album in a very very long time, this album will age beautifully. Genrebending and experimental, I like this more than Lemonade tbh
Did he seriously listen to this album out of order?!? The transitions are weeping
Its just the first listen he will listen several times in order to make his review
I must say I'm disappointed. All that talent gone to 🗑. Thought the album would be amazing. This is for young ones snorting and popping pills in the club. Not classy for my age group and I'm in my late 20's SMH. Drake come get your girl and fix this lol
@@siriusqueen3476 “not classy for my age group” 😭😭
@@pekka1903 Bring back the old skool Rnb music and hip hop. Anyways at least we can still access those music so not gonna complain. You guys enjoy. Adele just took a back seat for a reason, was hoping it would be worth it. Smh...I like you won't break my soul. But the rest I would even expect Cardi to play, but for clout she will smh
@@siriusqueen3476 she literally talks against drugs in the album, have you even listened?😭😭😭
Apparently this is an unpopular opinion but I actually love Church Girl because of how raw it is. It reminds me of NJ Club, which has similarly odd lyrics coupled with a great dance beat
Same!
It’s gonna be a big hit!
I love church girl, best song on the album for me
Church Girl is actually my fave(right now) off the record
Church Girl gives me Moby ‘Play’ vibes
This album sounds like everything azealia banks could’ve been had she focused on her craft and not twitter beefs
I mean... As good as Renaissance is, Broken with expensive taste remains better

@@spujb ☠️☠️😭
Now why you drag her like that damn LOL
@@tristanour I don't know about better, but that album is great.
the transitions are everything….i‘m that girl to cozy wow. cozy easily one of my favorite songs on the album followed by heated and move
Someone is chat said “Vasectomy type beat” during I’M THAT GIRL and I’m really struggling to understand what exactly in the fuck that is supposed to mean
Idk but im fuckin cryinnn
stopping before pure honey and summer renaissance is a federal crime
CUFF IT UP - ENERGY - BREAK MY SOUL definitely my favorite segment.
Fr fr, especially energy into break my soul... had me popping my pussy and I'm fully male
same! it feels like a huuuuge song altogether and it made break my soul sound like a whole new song for me
I love a good transition from one song to another, Massive Attack’s “blue lines” and Norma Jean’s “O’ God the aftermath” have some of my favorite transitions of all time and it was just really nice to hear an album that not only had that but felt like something you could play in the club and it has something for almost anybody who loves to dance in the club.
Ooo, indeed. The Blue Lines transitions were golden! Agreed, B did her thing 👏
I don't think there are djs that play 2 consecutive songs off an album in their set list
Underoath's Lost in the Sound of Separation is another good one
To me this album is a masterpiece of production design and historical reference, all put together to encourage people to look up the samples and originals, paying homage to ballroom and vogue culture. The vibe is out of control. It’s like every party you could ever want to go to in one album. 🪩🔥
I never understand the Beyonce hate. Like her or not she gives *quality* *music* of cultural and historical significance. She’s insanely talented at a level few achieve and it cannot be denniiieeedd. I feel bad for anyone who doesn’t love to dance.
Dedicated to her deceased gay uncle who introduced her to House, Dance, Ballroom.... created by Black DJ's on Chicago's Southside who taught European DJ's who get paid inordinate amounts of money off of Black Culture. I guess like everyone else. ;)
love Fantano - always, but extra specially when he's in one of his late night party work sunglasses indoors wearing session moods :) Always gives the best vibes and the funniest takes! love love love them vibes, a strong 10/10...forever!
This is just a super positive comment and i like it
He looks so good 🥵
Virgo's Groove is one of the best songs this millenia
and the entirety of Renaissance is a masterpiece, I've loved this record for over a year now
What the fuck happened to Beyoncé? Has there ever been an instance in which an artist of her already established prominence went through such an drastic transformation? Like, there’s a CLEAR jump from 4 to S/T and she’s kind of maintained that since. It’s crazy.
Ehh I’d actually say the transition was from IASF to 4. 4 is an amazing album and was when she stopped chasing radio hits and focused on honing her craft. Nothing from that album outside of Run The World sounds like anything that was on top 40 radio at the time.
@@mal3nko Love On Top.
Taylor swift is the only one that comes to mind with that drastic Country to Pop shift
@@muhammadhunain7784 it wasn’t drastic though because she was already playing with country pop for a while. it was almost expected.
Maybe prince
The chat is so stupid 💬 saying Beyoncé ‘Copied’ Drake on this album 💀
I think that is a joke💀
When in fact...the opposite may be true. Drake pushed out his album to avoid being called a copycat because he was originally on this album.
The transitions between songs are so impeccable. Listening on shuffle should be a crime
Plastic Off the Sofa makes me haaaard...no pause. Same way Speechless Rocket, and Dance For You did. Definitely a combo bachelor bachelorette party song for the love, friends, family, fun and vibes.😍✨

@@j_lynsation what???
How??
This album will go down in history
It truly is one of the albums of all time.
It’s a strong 8 for me, and hell, I might even be convinced to bump it to a 9.
I think the greatest reason why I love this album so much is that not only has it exposed a lot of people to very new and experimental sounds but the fact that Beyonce herself has given the green light and a stamp of approval to so many experimental and niche genres. Her platforming hyperpop is a big f**king deal, yanno?
Definitely my album of the year so far
bro what? where did she use hyperpop elements
@@voss9352 All Up In Your Mind, the song produced by acclaimed hyperpop producer AG Cook?
"Bro" I think you're just being obtuse if you couldn't put that basic thing together, especially considering Fantano shouts it out in the video.
@@Barista.Nathan i mean sure i guess,
i didn’t even watch the whole video but i didn’t see it as a hyperpop song. but i guess it answers my question, the song does use some hyperpop inspired elements
@@voss9352 "hyperpop" is already becoming a muddied term with spotify pushing bladee and a ton of other unrelated shit onto the playlist, and AG Cook is absolutely one of the faces of the whole thing, so I definitely think it's fair to say the song is at least hyperpop related
@@vivifrfx1530 do you know how to describe hyperpop?
RENAISSANCE must be listened straight to it. No skipping. No stopping. Just let it play
America has a problem has a really… confusing? situation? The song she’s sampling is comparing the American cocaine problem of the 80s/90s to loving a white woman that you know is bad for you. Effectively, beyonce is doing the opposite in her track, as she compares a romantic partner she has to a crack addict and also, in the process, calls herself an American problem. The problem she causes in America (I.e. the influence she has on the American population) is similar to the way that crack affected black populations in the 80s/90s (I think????). I guess the difference is that Beyoncé’s influence is positive, but it’s addictive like crack (her influence is also perceived badly by conservatives, in the way that low-consequence drugs like marijuana are). It’s a bit of a messy metaphor, but I think it was intended to be really loosely interpreted.
You get it!!!! I love smart people!
We love a Beyonce rhetorical analysis essay
She’s saying her 🐱 is addictive
I think it’s a lot more simple she’s comparing her body and this her vagina/sexual energy to crack
Not really a Beyoncé fan but the way this album sounds is amazing , quality music Fs
Her best album?
@@musermusingsyes
@@musermusingsHer best album is Lemonade. Her self-titled “Beyoncé” album is also great.

This damn album is AOTY no debate nada. Beyoncé just did it once again ladies and gentlemen. A truly spectacular album that only gets better with each listen
Kidding right?
you people are the worst... Just consooooooom and don't even think twice...
Some of the lyrics are pretty horrible though (IMO). I don’t get why bad lyrics for R&B and rap sometimes get a pass. But then sleazy lyrics in more mainstream pop and rock often get criticized
@@michaelgreene4816 you rock fans are always so pretentious lmao jfc go have some fun

I love this album it’s so fun. Songs like Virgos groove,Alien superstar,Cuff it and All up in your mind are upper echelon Beyoncé. The only song I thought was bad is Church girl lol I hated it. Some of the lyrics throughout are cringe and read as sassy IG captions but the mixing, sequencing, production and structure kinda covers it up for me. On my 5th listen and I’m levitating.
Energy was pretty weak to me
shake those tig ol bitties !!
@@Noirlore I agree but it was essentially an extension of cuff it so it worked for me. I wouldn’t listen to energy as a standalone but like I said the sequencing adds to it. Like break my soul was just okay to me but in the context of the album it’s a banger.
@@Noirlore it should be listened whole .
@@Noirlore agree about energy. I liked Church Girl.
I believe the song is called America has a problem because that’s the name of the sample she used for the song!
Album of the Year. The quality wow. Never heard such a fresh-sounding body of work.
CUFF IT sounds deceptively simple in it's attempt to be a Disco earworm, but how even that track stands out for me is how clean the mix is and the (pretty much always) amazing vocal performance. This is an example of why I prefer this album to pretty much anything from artists like Lizzo, who has also done disco tracks that I think aren't mixed or performed as well or with as much personality.
And this is how you do a dance/house album. *cough cough* Drake.
Omg i have been listening to the clean version the entire time
the comments….so insufferable i’m crying
dear god, fantano’s audience is so pasty lmao
The ‘problem’ is cocaine and addiction. The song samples a song called “Cocaine (America has a problem).” She’s using addiction as a metaphor for someone being addicted to her and a toxic relationship.
America has a problem is the name of the sample used.

Strong 8 light 9 for me a lot of it surprised me
same! the idea of an artist putting out work this risky experimental and DIFFERENT from anything else they’ve done before… +20 YEARS INTO THEIR CAREER is insane to me and part of what sets her apart from many of her peers for me.
Feeling Tony will give this a score in the Decent 8 to Decent 9 territory
Beyonce song "All Up In Your Mind" is a copy of The Contract (In Your Mind) by Anglo Black.
It’s only an hour - why on Earth would you not stream the whole album? Bizarre.

The people in the comments saying she’s stealing from Drake when Way 2 Sexy samples a different such that literally goes “i’m too sexy for this shirt”
Raw dog the pull-out. Got it
Ik it probs won’t get a 9 or 10 because it’s not a story album but it deserves a 9 or 10
I don't think an album gets a 9 or a 10 because it's a story album 🤔 What's Your Pleasure got a 9, it's just a straightforward disco album. One of ARCA's Kicks got a 9, that's not a narrative either. And Snail Mail's Valentine had a story he liked and still got a 5/10 iirc. A throughline can be nice but it's by no means required.
