Thanks for breaking it down in such an understandable way! Spatial is not my forte so it messes with my brain! I look forward to the binding part because I hope there is something that will help me with puckers. I have a Sunbonnet Sue quilt that my grandma pieced, my mom handquilted it and I put on the binding. It has a very curved scallop and it was really tricky but I love it in spite of the difficulty. Sadly, they're gone now - which makes the quilt even more special!
That does sound like such a special quilt! I'll show the binding as soon as I can.

Where did you get the happy birthday fabric on the back of your quilt? It's so cute.
It is a Michael Miller fabric but it is an older one so it is probably very hard to find.
