Hell yeah dude can’t believe you got onto a steelhead! I fished the break wall once, never again. I was out maybe a 30-45 min walk and then I felt like I had to take a dump. I was sprinting back I didn’t think I would make it, and people kept stopping me asking if I caught anything 😂

When I was a kid growing up on the shores of Lake Erie, I had my old timer neighbor take me rubberband fishing off the north side of the break wall west of edgewater. Tied one end of the rubberband to a brick, the other end to your line, a couple of hooks and bait then open your bail and throw the brick. When you catch a fish you reel him in stretching the rubberband, take the fish off then open the bail and the line goes right back out. Never got snagged on all the rocks

Great that you get out there with your dad. I lost my dad in 2018, best memories of my dad taking me fishing when I was very young, first trout, trolling for pike in the fog, even steelhead fishing together when I was in college. Good memories, thanks for reminding me.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to go to fish the breakwall. I'm from Virginia and I have wanted to go to Erie for Smallmouth and Perch for years. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!

Nice fish! I love multi-species fishing big stuff in the springtime! You joke about keeping those suckers, but in all honesty they make great cut-bait for catfish and pike! Additionally if you keep a female in the spring, their eggs work great for steelhead. I only used them once, but I like them better than salmon eggs. They are really small and a few eggs usually leak out of the egg sac as it bounces along the bottom which is like an added attractant for the steelhead when they are being finicky!

    was that a carp?

Surprised Danny Colville didn't ride you like a Shetland Poney again for showing off spot, this spot will be like Burt Dam soon, shoulders to shoulder bump and grind fishing 😢

I have fished several break walls of Lake Erie and other Great Lakes - let me tell you that that is some great fishing - small mouths like crazy and monsters too. Great fishing all the time I went - not to many poor days. Soft shell crayfish(if you can get them) just tears em up!

Nice vid. I’m a lifetime angler and love fishing new places. One of my favourite things is to fish from shore while travelling.
