I got the GRIII a couple of months ago and your videos are inspiring me to get better with it. I already feel I got over the learning curve of it. The ease of use and portability makes it so much fun. Thank you for these videos. You are doing an incredible job.
Thanks for commenting, glad you like your experience so far and happy if I can motivate you to shoot :)
My GRiii arrives today and I can't wait to get stuck into it. I've now watched a few of your videos. Great work and lovely images. Thank you.
I'm glad that pigeon didn't get run over 5:13
"It's like a game" is exactly how I feel about it too. 😎
The way I think about it is 35-55mm is my personal perspective. So I use an EVF at my eyeline, and easily capture great images because it captures what I saw almost exactly. It's hard not to be happy with what caught my eye.
28mm and wider is about getting an ideal perspective. In this way it feels more like being a director than a photographer. I have to work for the shot a bit more to capture a scene in the best way I can. For this reason I don't use any EVF, because rarely is my eyeline the optimun angle of view for the context and story of a space.
Plus, it lets me use the LCD like frame lines, I can see what's coming around the camera on all sides and better plan the camera's perspective in any moment.
This was hard to understand for me at first, because I was so used to shooting subject that I had never really learned to visualise scene.
Just bought today a GR III inspired by your videos. Looking forward to use it in my trip to Japan in a few months! thanks for your work!
Hope you enjoy shooting with it :)
your color grading is top notch man! and your photos are amazing too ofc....I'd love to see some videos about your thought process when shooting, and post processing photos too...
Thanks! Well noted ;)
This video is so good. Love the shots and the footage. Crazy locations and you got a good eye
Thanks a ton!
Absolutely beautiful photos and edits man. I've recently sold my x100v because I felt like it wasn't pocketable enough and quite expensive. The GRIII might be the perfect solution for this
Thanks for your comment :)
Loving your videos, images and talks...! Thank You Adrien.
PS: You can set up the disp button, to toggle screen on / off, saving on battery use.
Greetings from Denmark...!
Thanks for the tip! and commenting :)
So beautiful photos!🙏
Thanks!
Nice photos, I like your work🎉 It makes me go out shoot more street snaps😊📷 Happy shooting!!📷📷
Thanks! I am glad it motivates you :)
your pics are wonderful!!
Thanks a lot!
Love the video so far. Still watching!
Cool! Glad you like it
Huge fan of your content! I'm so torn on 28mm vs 40mm Ricoh GR. Was leaning iiix and then I see how amazing your photos are on the iii... Coming from a Fuji X100T and looking to use for travel, street, EDC. Would love any advice (knowing it's somewhat personal preference)!
I covered that topic on my last video :)
Incredible phots from such a pocket package
That's the power of the GR ;)
The GRIII is so tempting. Maybe someday.
It’s a very expensive camera for a fixed lens apsc but it is so fun to use 😊
Great shots
Thanks!
Are you going to make me buy this?! lol Keep going back to it, love it. Funny enough, I came for the 85mm, staying for the Adrien.
Hahaha thanks a lot for your comment. Sorry for your wallet if you happen to buy it but happy for you and your photography journey ;)
Nice shots! I really like your compositions - central point, symmetry. In high-contrast situations, are you using highlight priority metering or multi-segment with further adjustments in Lr? Also, don't you feel like electronic level sometimes slows you down too much? I turned mine off, but now - there's a lot of cropping and correcting angles in post! ;)
Good point on the level, I will turn that off ;) Yes I use multi segment and adjust my exposure compensation and then in LR
Great photos and amazing colours /edits are they recipes or presets Would love to know I love my griii
Very nice composition and work. I have the xe4 by Fuji and it’s halfway working. Wish I would’ve got the GR :/
Thanks! I hope you can find a solution soon. Both of this cameras are great!
Nice work!
Thanks!
if portability wasnt a concern, what would you choose between this and the X-E4?
Are you mostly using snap focus instead of aperture priority? How deep do you set the distance? And which metering do you prefer? Highlight? Thanks for sharing your photo walks with us.
When in very bright daylight I use mostly snap distance priority mode with 3 as DOF. Here because it was not that bright when in the alleyway I was more around DOF 2. and I use Multi metering
Hi. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree, thd griii just pulls me back and is my most used camera. Personally I love the ergonomics and ease of controls. And yes, image quality is just astounding. I tend to usd the widd adaptor alot and love it for architectural shots. Out of interest, have you ever used any of the sony rx100 range? I have one and always feel guilty for not using it more on travel for its versatility, but I just dont seem to connect with it like I do my griii. I know everyone is different, but as you are a pro photographer, I would value you'd input, thoughts and reasons, like or not?
A loooong time ago I used one but would like to give it a shoot one day. Especially that I am moving away from playing to much with the bokeh so I would be happy with a smaller sensor I guess
@@adriensanguinettiit's curiously unengaging to use. I used the mkii for 8 years, got lots of use from it (I actually sold all my other kit, because the RX could do it all!) and took it all over the world. But it always felt like a gadget, and sometimes too small to be comfortable.
Sold it at a good price and bought the smallest M4/3 Lumix - which I love 💕 Much nicer to use, hold and experiment with. Three good lenses and completely re-inspired to travel and shoot. The RX took great quality photos but was never fun to use.
Great video again. Have you got another video in the pipeline on ricoh GR recipe? Really enjoyed your last one and tried your recipe but found it didnt quite work for indoor settings (my own subjective view of course). Really appreciate your vid style - very relaxing 👍
Thanks, not in the pipeline but I may consider doing one. I really love editing my pictures so I don't spend too much time creating new recipes
@@adriensanguinetti that's very true. If you edit the pic in post you wouldn't need to use recipe.
0:07 Phew. Is that sharpening in camera or from Post. Love my GR3. Glad that It's getting the attention it deserves.
I don't add extra sharpening when editing so it's straight from the camera
@@adriensanguinetti awesome!
10:42 is super sharp
Wow. Amazing work. I have to ask, the very first shot of the gentleman at the vending machine. Was that edited with one of your presets? If so, can you advise which ones? Thank you sir.
Thanks! Yes it was edited with my preset called Shikoku
@@adriensanguinetti Boom! Just purchased the set, thank you sir!
man, I would love to see what type of shots you could achieve with a leica q/q2 ff ~ that 28mm f1.7 on those bodies are so insane~
Sounds nice! But no budget for that and I don't know anyone around me to borrow it from ^^'
@@adriensanguinetti that is why we must blow your patreon up !!
Est-ce que tu corriges les perspectives ou déformations en post-prod ?
Was thinking of picking up the griiix for myself but that battery life always holds me back. Might wait for the new rumoured Fuji to be announced before making a decision. Video as always is fantastic, great job.
Hey. I have a question. I have ever since being very young enjoyed photography, like 10 years ago I stopped taking photos after getting the Nikon D7000 with several lenses because I really hated the idea of carrying the camera and gear everywhere and it just lost the "magic". Recently, I have been wanting to get back into photography but I really dont want a DSLR or big camera. I have been thinking of maybe getting the new iPhone 15 pro when it comes out as an option because from what I see the phone can get very good pics shooting in RAW. However, I recently stumbled upon your videos and have been also considering the ricoh as an option. What do you think is better? Thank you in advance I appreciate it
A smartphone, regardless of how good they are in taking photographs will never offer the same experience as shooting with a proper camera. I love the photos taken on my iPhone but I hate the ergonomics of shooting with it. Simply for that cameras will always be there and won't be replaced by smartphone I think
nice pictures! did you use any film effects in this video?
on the video footage? Yes it was colorgraded with my LUTs and Dehancer for the grain and bloom. The pictures were edited with my Presets
Interesting video - thanks. Will you buy the Ricoh GR Monochrom if they release one?
Thanks! I don't think so, I shoot almost no BW and when I will start I will not splurge all my money on a camera that can only shoot BW
Really good video - I have had my GRiii for a year or so and it is enough to take as my only camera when travelling. Just invested in 2 new batteries and a charger tho’. I have other gear but why carry it all!!
Have you tried using any recipe and shooting only Jpegs ? Was there any recipe which made your photos look better than the one you got from editing Raw files on Lightroom ?
I tried yes but none of them were really convincing. I always edit my pictures with my presets
ive been debating on getting this camera for quite some time now. I shoot street photography primarily. i wonder if this would be better for me or a fuji xe4. since their similar prices....
It’s going to be a hit and miss. I had GRII few years ago, bought and sold 3x times. The camera is really lovely to use. Sharp images, great colour. But I just hate the one focal length. If you prefer to use more than one focal length, skip this. Otherwise it’s really a lovely camera to use. It’s just so good and easy to use.
@@alphatumeric I have an a7iv with a great variety of lenses. This would be more if an edc for me
In such case the GRs are the best as they can really fit in pockets or small bags
which city is this mate? ( anyway soothing background music )
It was in Kyoto ;)
Did you get dust on the lens yet. I heard it a lot. Makes sense since it pocketed all the time
No dust after 2 years so I don’t see this as a big problem 👌🏻
@@adriensanguinetti thank you
hey man dou think gr iv is coming soon? just wonderin if i buy griii right now or wait for gr 4? thanks
This is something I was contemplating, especially having seen some rumours and the official Ricoh channel video. Then I read a lot of other comments that said "don't wait, just buy a GRiii and start shooting." So that's what I have done - it arrives today 😊. I'm still very keen to see what a GRiv will look like, but for now, I'll practice on the GRiii until that day comes.
Are this straight out of camera photos or were they edited after?
All edited with my presets ;)
Can I purchase the presets shown in the video?
Of course, link is in the description
Should I wait for the gr4 or buy this?
I’d buy what is available. And start shooting photos now.
Agree with Calvain, and the GRIII is already plenty good to take fantastic photos
Are these raw images.
Yes all RAW images that I edited in Lightroom
It is so weird that you can take pictures of random people without consent. I would love to do that but I guess I be end up in trouble.
I am lucky indeed that Japan is a pretty easy country to do street photography without being confronted
Overall I enjoy your vids. However, I challenge you to take more pics of people head-on instead of their backs. There just seems to be a lot of missed opportunity and story telling of capturing ones facial expression.
Good point, I will try more of that
You not using any straps... Scary!
I noticed that too. I know myself and would choose not to do that. I am a klutz and would fear for the health of the body.
Really enjoyed the selection of music for this video. Especially the guitar for the 1st part of the video. I usually enjoy Adrien’s work when he rocks his Leica gear. For me there weren’t enough people on the street and I would have moved on. The shopping area was too dark for me and that is reflected in the images shown. When I go for a walk with my camera some times I win and sometimes I loose with the images I create. Mostly I loose. Unlike when shooting film, where every time I press the shutter it costs $1 or more, digital images are cost free until I print one of the few images I like. I can come home with 500+ images and like only ~ five images. I am rewarded for taking multiple image and I do.
Have just purchased a GRiii. Setting it up and will hit the road with it soon. I use my EVF a lot so there will be a period of getting use to just using the rear LCD. I may buy a cheap dumb plastic view finder from China in the end.
Thank you for the video.
Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
I usually use one but forgot it that day ^^'
I finally got a Redmi Note 11S, FRom my old huawei, that's a big step, I'll b able to make nicer shots (and my buddy is Japanese!)
Cool! Taking good photos is not only about having a ''proper'' camera. I am sure you will take great ones with your Redmi ;)
@@adriensanguinetti I as said once, "It's the eye of the photographer, not the camera", but a good camera helps ! keep on trucking, I like your concept: selfie/ming the photographer "first persoon" best regards
When you say batteries are cheap, I guess you talk about 3rd party?
Yes ;)
