Book update 📚 I finished Layla! I liked it a lot. Def kinda weird but I followed and loved where it went.
I've read Verity and obviously that was amaaaazing too. Please send other thriller-type recs, I'm HOOKED on this genre right now
I would recommend They Never Learn by Layne Fargo if you haven't read it yet, I really liked it and it was the first thriller I've read!
I’m in Buffalo so we had 100% totality. It was crazy when it was at 100%!! It’s so interesting you could really just see the darkness come in so quickly. I got to watch with my 86 year old Papa😊

I cannot stress enough how much A Little Life altered my brain chemistry. I said to my family when I first started that I could tell I’ll have lived so many lives by the time I end and it was so true. As heavy and hard it was, it made me think about life in a such a new perspective. But I absolutely agree that you need to be ready for the turmoil lol
i loved the solar eclipse. it was so beautiful witnessing everyone so eager to see it and actually enjoy it but omg it was so cloudy here in maryland so we got to see it here and there
We drove for 15 hours from Boston to Vermont trying to beat out the clouds and ended up having an amazing moment of full totality. I know you guys didn't get full totality but if you ever want to experience the full darkness, as someone who has anxiety it was s truly calming and humbling moment.
Wow thank you for sharing the info at the end on reusing the eclipse glasses! they can be recycled/reused instead of going to the landfill. Love you and love your vlogs! I hope this eclipse re-centers and brings us good new energy!

A Little Life was a story I don’t regret reading but I also would never recommend anyone else read it. Probably the only book I feel this way about. I thought I was in a good headspace when I read it and it still fucked me up a bit. Do with that what you will!

We had 100% totality where I’m at, I watched it outside of my work and when it went dark I literally could not help but get teary eyed it was like actually magical

I just finished The Seven Year Slip (you recommended some time ago and it has been on my list) I loved it, an easy light read, thanks for talking about it, I'm praying that it goes viral on tiktok and we get a NYC romcom out of it
I was also very underwhelmed by the eclipse. There was so much build-up to it and so much hype yet it didn't get very dark and a cloud also passed over it during totality as well. I thought my area was 97% but it didn't seem like it. I just felt so disappointed and jealous watching others' stories and seeing how dark it got in their areas!
If you need a book/experience recommendation, reading 'In the Café of Lost Youth' by Patrick Modiano on a blanket/towel/whatever in Central Park is something I'd highly recommend. When I first moved to NYC my dad sent me his copy and told me to just go sit in the park and read it, it's been 6 years and it's one of my favorite things I've done. Even without my dad being involved I think it would be a great experience, it's maybe 150 pages so it's a quick read and it's about a young woman somewhat finding her way. Truly a lovely read and on a spring day in the park, it's even better

I’ve made it only halfway through the book ‘a little life’, every time i started reading there would be this heavy feeling in my chest and i just couldn’t continue reading it, so i just googled the rest of the plotline. i don’t think i would’ve been able to finish it after finding out what happens. it’s like that one book that belongs in the freezer, like Joey did with the shining xd

I have the same thing with not being able to see at dusk. Its so bad. Even with my glasses on. Also. NYC wasnt in the direct path to see it 100% covered. If you look up cleveland OH eclipse video or pics, its crazy how dark it got there. And theres a brief moment where the only light shines from around the moon. Thats why it was so anticlimactic. That and the clouds. Lmao.
