- Prior to the event, multiple groups, including the school's NAACP chapter and a group called 'Not Welcome at VCU' said almost 800 people are willing to walk out of the ceremony when Youngkin spoke.

It is THEIR education and they have a right to oppose the whitewashing of history. Furthermore the governor’s policies have repressed LGBT people and Anti-Zionist peaceful protests. Employers like people who want to work with others to achieve a mutual understanding and respect, not the kind who break windows and spray paint things in order to express their feelings.

What does that have to do with elections? They clearly disapprove of Youngkin's work and attitude, whether he's an elected official or not. They didn't storm Virginia's capitol to prevent him from becoming governor. They just expressed their opinion about his cruel and barbaric policies and his hateful and bigoted speech. Which is their right as per the first Amendment.

@@mandy7982 The electoral college is for elections at the federal level. This is a state level election and as such is an indicator of the support of the majority (the worldview of the majority) who elected the candidate.
@@christinegeary4877 and what about all of the court cases going on for voting rights in state elections where one side is trying to make voting more restrictive, confusing, harder to access, easy to get stricken from the rolls without your knowledge, and harder to get your vote counted? If a simple majority was all that mattered, those tactics wouldn’t even be in play.

Kudos to these young people for having the courage to participate in a silent protest on behalf of their beliefs. It's unfortunate that there are not more people who would muster the courage to take a stand against what is wrong.
