The lack of smart, accessible recovery hooks/points on vehicles, especially a truck or sport ute is pretty shameful. Come on manufacturers.
A truck that doesn't have front tow hooks isn't a truck.
Pretty sure thats only a 2wd truck
They don’t want them to be fixed, they want you to just buy another one!
Vast majority people aren’t taking their vehicles off-road and manufacturers know that. It’s pretty simple
A 2wd truck isn't a truck anyway
First words out of Matt's mouth after the damage. I owe you a bumper. One of the most stand up guys on CZcams. Matt and his family are doing it right. Keep up the awesome work! Stay safe!
Yah really, most people would say it was like that when I started!
New bumper might be a bit unreasonable, It looks to me like a small plastic weld with a touch up.
I agree. I've been meaning to buy a hat off their website to support them. They seem so wholesome and have entertaining content from my home state :)
@@kristofgilicze no. Replacement is owed not s repair. The customer should receive their vehicle as they left it. With a bumper not a repaired bumper it's completely reasonable. Matt knows this..plus it's customer service.
I think his first word was edited out....
You need a "Repeat Offender" shirt. (I didn't learn my lesson the first time but Matt's got me out.) lol
If you remember, the first series of shirts said “So, I made a call”, based on Matt’s intro line of “So, we got a call”. The repeat offender shirts should say “So, I made a call…again!”
@@jeffreeves1567 "So I made _another_ call..."
We Got em out…again !
Great idea!
Loyal customers shirt.
One of the great things about your channel is that you are not afraid to show your mistakes.
I love it that Matt is honest and admits his mistakes and shows them . Shows the quality of his character.
Humility is key in maturity
Exactly, many others wouldn’t. Good on you Matt.
Ya but....then there is that thing that nobody talks about that is a huge character indicator. Just sayin.
He gives away boxes of cash to his employees- fixing a bumper is peanuts compared to his wealth.
I love the term “the right amount” my dad would always tell me that when working on cars. How tight should this bolt be? “Tight enough” it was frustrating at first, but now I understand to think about the different forces that are acting on the bolt and how tight it needs to be, as well as feeling the torque yield. Much better than breaking out the torque wrench for every bolt on a car. (Still listen to torque specs though)
Most companies around where I live have you sign a piece of paper on an off-road recovery not responsible for any damages to your vehicle incurred while getting it unstuck. That is amazing that you will accept responsibility for a mistake in this day and time tell her some wonderful people. I enjoy watching all of y'all's videos
A professional all the way, instantly offering to replace a damaged part that may or may not have been able to avoid damage. Damn it is great to see a man with integrity and honor. Are there any fat head wall posters of Matt yet?
I like when people own a mistake. Shows good character. Sucks still but took it like a champ for the customer. Those are the guys you want to do business with.
Matt is the most standup guy about the bumper. Most recovery company’s wouldn’t do that. Hope to see y’all during the Winter 4x4 Jamboree!! Would love to stop by the shop and say Hi!!!
I actually just asked this question and that’s what I figured. Most companies would pay for the bumper as technically it’s not owed. I would assume. 🤷♂️
Yeah lot's of them have some sort of disclaimer stating they are not responsible for damages, unless they completely wreck the vehicle.
@@frumsmcnoodles323 Or, if they can't find a good connection point on your rig or think that doing so is liable to break something, they'll have you sign a liability waiver before they'll do the work.
Thanks guys. That’s what I figured but I just didn’t know. You can’t really have a recovery business when you have a high likely hood of damaging something then having to pay for those repairs.
@@bennysax1 I am sure that Matt makes as much or more off the videos than he does of towing.
I have been watching Paw Patrol with my daughters: a show about puppies that rescue humans through impossible engineering. But thanks to MORR, the most unrealistic part of that show is how fast they find a tow point on a modern car. It gets me Every.Time.
Admitting to our mistakes is hard. You're a stand-up man Matt!
At least Big Mike said they could fix it rather than just replace, good to see companies like that still, a lot of places would just say yup we can order one for you and with paint it will be $xxxx 🤦♂️
Matt seems a very upstanding business owner and person in general. I would think there's a waiver that could be signed for an extraction if accidentally damage is in incurred, but he just owned up to it.
I don’t think Matt should have to pay to repair the damage. When a person decides to take that kind of vehicle in that type of terrain they should expect that their vehicle is going to fall apart. Great job Matt. You have the biggest heart.
No need to be embarrassed Matt you can count on a single finger how many tines you've broke a customers vehicle, but the people who should be embarrassed are the designers of modern vehicles who don't put enough recovery points on. We forgive you, hope hou all had a good Christmas love from Truro Cornwall UK
If they put recovery points on all vehicles then they couldn't sell more parts which hurts their bottom line. Also a key thing to remember is that a lot of vehicles have what look like recovery points on the front but in most cases they are not actually rated by the manufacturer as such. What looks like "recovery" points might only be rated for flat towing a vehicle on a paved surface so their working load limit might be half the vehicle's weight.
And who puts cheap plastic bumper on a truck anyway whoever designed it is an idiot truck should have metal bumpers like the morr vair
@@Jack-yl7cc unfortunately your statement is perfect ♥️
Blaming the manufacturers for the negligence and stupidity of their customers is what is wrong with this country. It goes beyond vehicles. Perhaps, don't take your 2wd WT with no recovery points on it off road would be the more logical solution to this problem.
@Marty's 4x4 that depends on the location if your in a location with alot of snow in them areas most vehicles will have to be towed at some point in its life wether its stuck in a driveway/parking lot or you slide off the road but all vehicles should have at least one recovery point at the front and one in the back but also they sell alot of 4x4 and awd vehicles advertised as off road worthy that don't have recovery points so alot is with the driver making poor decisions but every vehicle should have recovery points regardless
Tow points are mandated by law here in Germany and you show us regularly why it would make sense to introduce similar regulations in the USA.
Matt I believe the reason people like you is you do the right thing. You never really degrade people for taking vehicles places they knew they shouldn't be. Just your general attitude on life. Hope one day I can meet you.
"You live and learn, and sometimes you do more livin' than learnin'" - truer words were never spoken.
That's an easy fix at a body shop, but Matt instantly offering to replace it outright is admirable.
Stuff happens Matt! I hate the way alot of these newer vehicles don't have decent recovery points and then to top that off they put all this "fancy" fiber glass crap on them. Y'all did a great job as always.
As a guy that’s been out of the car, business and reconditioning of used cars for the last 17 years, I would find it fascinating to see how that bodyman does an epoxy repair or whatever it is they do now on that bumper cover.
They used to always have to replace the entire bumper cover, and I had heard there’s a way to not do that and still have good results.
The best episode was the one with Edd on the camera, and Matt just stacking rocks for hours. Not a lot of editing

Why would anyone even attempt to drive a truck that is not made for off-road driving...????
MATT, it happens and you mand up to it... !!!
Great job guys and glad that the bumper is fixable..
Thanks Matt. Your misstep saved thousands of us who would have never thought of damaging the bumper the same fait.

A 2wd truck can go surprisingly well off road with; good tires aired down, weight over the drive axle with bumpers that don't grab dirt.
But the most important bit is a good driver skillset.
But a bad day off roading is better than a good day at work😄
Good to have Big Mike to fix that bumper
Thankful that you admit error, but even bigger that you repair error. Wise not to hand out the money for repair because all his friends would know that you broke it and some will learn that you paid. But this way if the topic comes up it will be, I got a new bumper is why it's so clean. And as soon as dirty as the rest of the truck, it will be forgotten. This is the only honest way to cover up mistakes, fix them. MORR honesty. Love you all. Thanks for posting
Anyone has a day like that 😊 my Papa would say, no one got hurt it’s a good day. ❤
Matt's a special kind of recovery guy he's honest and trustworthy! Jaymie and Tom plus Lizzy is a great team to have and they'll get em out!
I'm so happy to see Jamie in more videos lately! I love the family feel of this channel
For any damage. Matt says I owe you a bumper. The MORR CREW ARE FIRST CLASS. Love the videos
You're not the only one who had a bad day during this last week. Casey Ladelle also had trouble with a recovery of a truck off the side of the road and damaged it accidentally. It's funny how close together you both had recovery damaged vehicles. So, don't feel bad. It happens to everyone.
You're an honest man for replacing it. Lots of folks would say hey, you go stuck -- any damage getting out is also on you... but you don't.
Edit: Glad to see it's getting repaired instead of replaced. Your guy knows his plastics.
He has insurance for recovery related damages. Thats why he always want to put someone of his team in the rigs. Random people arent covered.
@Marty's 4x4 Weird. I work directly with the auto repair industry (both shops and manufacturers) and I've seen tons of nitrogen welds repairs come through local shops, and haven't heard of people coming back in with failures or appearance complaints. Issues usually arise out of people either not knowing which type of plastic they're working with (and then using the wrong repair methods) or, trying to use body filler instead of flex based bumper filler. Avoid those two things, and a qualified tech can easily fix a bumper tear. I'm surprised someone with 25 years in plastic repair would be so pessimistic about their own industry. Just my 2 cents. Have a good one.

If it was my truck I would want a brand new OEM bumper cover.
@@JohnStoneNC If it were your truck and almost anyone but Matt pulling you out you'd be buying that new OEM bumper yourself
It’s ok Matt, your a blessed man having Jamie for your wife and supporting team
It happens, no matter how hard you try things are going to break sometimes. Trucks need battle scars if they're off-road vehicles anyway. We've got a 2018 RAM 2500 that was beautiful off the showroom floor and it's covered with Nevada pinstripes now. It comes with the territory of using the vehicle for what it was meant to do. It also has recovery points front and rear - I wouldn't have thought of adding them to the rear until I saw your channel. 😁 Thanks for sharing the video!
It’s nice that Matt didn’t edit that out. Shows alot of character when. Man can show his mistakes
I'm sure UDOT appreciates you leveling out the on-ramp to the new highway. 🤣
"Bumper" is kind of a misnomer now. But of course "easily damaged piece of plastic decoration" just takes too long to say. Thanks for re-inforcing my plan to keep my old blue pickup truck forever! Thanks for the video!
I think it's pretty hilarious how everyone is in talking up Matt for doing the right thing as a business owner and human being . He broke it and he will fix it . Doesn't make him walk on water
That truck owner should eat the cost of the bumper. He could call it an off roading tuition. At the very least, split the cost with Matt.
That one pull was super impressive. I thought it would be 2 for sure. Great job guys. And out of all the videos I've watched over the years, this is the first time I've seen you break anything on some else's vehicle. So I'd say your doing pretty good. Keep up the good work MORR team 🤙
I like that your a big enough man to admit to and show us your mistakes. I shouted stop just before the bumper got cracked but you didn't hear me.
Matt is so good. He always does everything he can to keep a good reputation with customers and he always gives it his 100% to get people out of situations.
Unfortunately when the Dodge pickup moved, it moved further and faster than expected... Nice to see Matt take ownership of that oops. The really impressive thing was in the first recovery of that pickup/camper combo. Those recovery ropes must store a tremendous amount of energy from the momentum of the pulling vehicle. Back when I was young and foolish and fooling around off road we only had chains and flat nylon straps with just about zero give to them. We did a lot more winching than towing.
I am right there with you with the rattles! Drives me nuts
Styrofoam squeaking in the back is the worst
I was taught years ago that it's cheaper and easier to get a louder stereo than fix the rattles and squeaks. That may not have been the best advice for my hearing, but it did work.
Yay! I love seeing Jaymie on the recoveries.
Jillian, do you or Bob have the most free MORR shirts by now?

My opinion is that modern pickups are more show pieces built for comfort and not meant for hard use & even abuse.
You're a goddamn unicorn......I bet not one recovery/tow operator in a hundred would offer to make that right.

I appreciate when you show us mistakes as well. Sometimes that makes it easier to understand why you do what you (usually) do. 👍🙂 Great video!
It's all good Matt - sometimes you win - sometimes - you don't. At least the recovery didn't turn into a SNAFU situation wrecking the MORVAIR and Customer vehicle.
Ram owners, the factory accessory tow hooks from mopar will fit trucks with the body colour (plastic fascias). If I recall right, a couple of the bolt holes on the hooks have to be elongated slightly to move the hooks a bit lower to work with the bracket. Then dremel out the hole in the filler section.
Thanks Matt now my day is officially started!
Howdy from Australia! Love the videos! Happy new year everyone!

Your a stand up person Matt. You made a mistake, admitted it, and made it right with the customer.
It happened right in front of the customers face. What else is he supposed to do?
@@code6charles966. Matt said he was going to stop pulling at a certain point (again, right in front of the customer) but he didn't.
Of the hundreds of videos I have seen of you, I think this is the first I have seen the crew break. Pretty good ratio considering the amount of vehicles that get stuck
That Morrvair is absolutely insanely powerful!
The Ram does have points to install recovery hooks even on 2wd. You have to pop out the black trim piece from the bumper and hook up there. That’s how I installed the grille guard on my Ram.
thats stupid, they should stop putting plastic on trucks
@@carlholland3819 You can thank the Democrats for that.
@@carlholland3819reed, but they gotta meet those CAFE numbers; plastic is lighter, cheaper, and reduces wind resistance. 4th gen Rams do come with metal bumpers in other trims, the Sport model is meant for the streets. The dude brought the wrong Ram.
@@SergeantExtreme which is funny since Nixon brought the EPA into existence.
Tow hooks were an option and that is a ram 1500 sport and they don’t come with tow hooks, the chrome bumper rams such as big horns and Laramie come with tow hooks
Even professionals like Matt make mistakes, props to Matt for owning up to it. Appreciate you brother!
Based on these two customers, Matt's business will never dry up. Man, just amazing what people try to do with their vehicles.
“Short and cute?” I mean, I guess. This channel is my favorite show.
Don't see why someone towing that huge travel trailer would go anywhere near dirt.
He was doing a recovery. ;) his toy broke. So he tried to being the “garage” of that huge RV to it so loading would be easy. He should have unhooked truck. (It was a diesel? So heavy alone. Best is flag down someone. Offer them $20 to tow it the 200 yards to your rig.
Probably didn't consider it was "dirt" dirt, since it's a prepped and leveled roadbed ready for gravel and asphalt. Just... not all the way through.
Rams should stay on the freeway and not stray too far from a repair shop.😉
This is why I prefer watching your channel to others. With some of these people all you see is the jobs that go perfect. With this channel Matt will show you his mistakes so you can learn from them and not make them yourself. He also takes responsibility for his mistake and will repair anything he breaks. With most recoveries like Matt does the recovery company requires that you sign a release of responsibility for any damage thought do while recovering your vehicle. I have seen a tow driver do thousands of dollars in damages and refuse to pay for their duckups. Matt always tries to minimize the damage to keep the costs down for the customer and that is very admirable. If I am ever in Utah and need a tow Matt will be the first choice. I do beach recoveries in Alaska so I know how hard it is to try to get idiots out of places that they had absolutely no business being. I have refused to try to recover several pickups from the beach on an incoming tide for safety reasons and have waited for the tide to go back out. I have had people very upset about it but I will not risk people's lives or safety to recover a vehicle when the waves crashing down are 5 to 8 feet high. I refused to get a Dodge Ram due to safety reasons once and when the tide went back out the truck was not there. We found it 4 miles up the beach 2 days later almost completely flattened like it had been crushed in a wrecking yard. I will also refuse to recover vehicles in certain circumstances due to the location. I have people who complain that I charge too much, ($1,000 to start) but I am risking a $45,000 truck to fix their stupidity. Also $1,000 is cheap compared to the $50,000 to $250,000 to replace your vehicle. I once had a couple in a Mercedes G- wagon go down on the beach at low tide, launch their boat and leave the $250,000 truck parked below the tide line to go fishing. It took a Caterpillar D8 bulldozer to pull it out and the vehicle was a total loss due to salt water intrusion to the engine, transmission, transfer case, and wiring. The water level in the Cook Inlet rises and falls as much as 33 feet every time the tide goes out or comes back in. This is the second highest change in water level in the world only to Bay of Fundy in Canada. This all happens in 6 hours from start to finish and people who come here from the lower 48 don't have the experience driving on our beaches or the huge change in water levels. In Washington state the water level only changes from 8 to 10 feet during a tide cycle where it changes 30 feet in 6 hours here.
happens in maine too bar island ,Bar Harbor every year they drive to bar island at low tide lol 😆
Matt, don't fell bad about cracking the bumper. 1 it wasn't intentional, 2 the owner under stand's it wasn't on purpose and was cool about it and 3 your doing the right thing by replacing it. You can not do every single recovery without 1 every now and then getting damage. Especially when they are out in middle of the nowhere. You do the best you can to avoid damage, but again not every recovery is the same. If I was in these people's place and stuck out in middle of know where, I'm freaking calling you, Paul or Rory depending on who I'm closer to!
Thats why I love this channel! Some tow company will have you sign a waiver. Matt and his crew are the best! God bless you brother!
I noticed in video the rear receiver hitch, while the angle was not easy or ideal. May have been a option to choose. But definitely harder to find spots to pull from, or not damaging alignment or front suspension these days, ran across a car, I helped pull out, bet took 30 minutes just to figure out a spot to attach the rope to, all plastic, under the nose back to the tranny. Older lady looking for her lost dog, in minus 30 below weather and snow, stuck. Was so concerned about dog, went walking, after car stuck, had to adk go back to car, stay warm, her safety and life first.
ya ya but what about the dog?
No need to re-explain, I heard you the first time. That guy should upgrade his bumper anyway if he's going to off road with that truck. Also, second timers should give you a shirt or a shirt that says, " I made the call again".
If he wants to go off roading the first thing he needs to do is get a 4WD rig.
PROJECT BUILD SUGGESTION: Rock Crawler : 1962 International Scout, 80 series Half Cab pickup.
I grew up in Seirra National Forest near Shaver Lake, CA. Dad had one of these, in the early 70’s, we used to go get firewood in, and it was a ragtag, wouldn’t stay in second gear mess, but it would out climb and pull everything including the Sierra club Jeeps when they were up in our neck of the woods.
I always kind of figured that if I put my vehicle in that kind of position I was going to be responsible for most of the damage incurred, excluding careless or reckless action by the recovery crew. Matt didn't build a truck with no recovery points. He didn't clad it with a low slung fragile plastic. Kudos to him for fessing up to a small misjudgement in the recovery pull and accepting responsibility for the damage.

Those dodge 1500s generally dont have tow points. But under the front of the frame, theres 2 random square posts that come down off the frame that you can tie up on.
