      No unfortunately not, there was a kickstarter from RSNAV to develop a digital cluster for B8 but not enough interest :/

    Hi! Thanks for the video. Will the airbag work properly? I was told that there might be some problems with it. Also, will all the buttons work (the nav button)? Planning to change the steering wheel of my RS5 B8 to this. Thanks!

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před rokem

      Airbag works, it’s the same connector/technology just a different design. All the buttons that the old wheel had work. Nav doesn’t work unfortunately because the old wheel didn’t have a dedicated Nav button (you still press the volume wheel for the repeated navigation command).

      Found it on eBay, you can get a lot of wheels from crashed facelift A5 SLine for cheap. Just need to change the little badge for S5 (you can also get those on eBay) 👍🏻
      Edit: the part number of my wheel is in the video description

    Hey bro! I am planning to buy an Audi A5 B8 aswell, would you say there are any issues or things to watch out for, electric/mechanical issues, etc, as Ive seen youve owned yours for a while. :)
    Thanks, great vids btw!

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před rokem +1

      Hey, yeah there are a few things, but make sure to look in the Forums for your specific engine/transmission/configuration as well.
      Generally there are some minor problems with mounts and bushings (on some B8s they need to be replaced earlier than normal for the mileage, as far a I know) especially with everything related to the front wheels. Just make sure those aren’t already worn out.
      Depending on the engine, some 2.0T have an oil consumption problem, 3.2 FSI can have Pistons and gasket problems (can’t really spot them easily), 4.2 FSIs have basically no know faults and are solid engines. Regardless which one you get, keep an eye on the Timing chain, the bigger the engine the more expensive/time consuming it is to replace one (due to the small engine bay). And definitely do your Oil change every 2nd year or 5000 miles (don’t do the Longlife bullshit Intervall).
      Multitronic Transmission is a CVT and has lots of problems, Tiptronic is the old torque converter Auto and is slow but not many known problems, STronic is a dual clutch but can have some electrical problems, manual gearbox is solid no issues there at all.
      Watch out for the Tachometer background illumination, especially on older models. The LEDs are sometimes dying. Turn the headlights on and look for flickering or inconsistent background lighting in the speedometer.
      Make sure that when you buy a Facelift, you get the MMI3G+ (only Version with built in Bluetooth Streaming) or a 3G High (higher resolution screen) on the Preface.
      Sound System quality heavily depends on the specific combination of Headunit Version/Model year etc (even some B&O won’t sound good at all) I have several Videos regarding woofer/speaker Upgrades and a trick with VCDS. But regardless watch out for rattling doors with loud bass haha.
      Hope that’s sums it up. Honestly that probably sounds like a lot but if you look out for these things, get a solid car and take good care of it, they don’t really make any problems.

      @@maximusoptimusTECH Thank you so much for all the info, I appreciate all the advice a bunch! Especially the oil and led's part! :))
      I'm planning to get either the 1.8/2.0 TFSI, either in manual or auto, good to know that realistically tiptronic is the only choice for me to go to if I don't want to have constant headaches, I don't mind if it's a bit slower since it'll be a huge upgrade to what I drive currently anyways, regardless of my transmission choice lol.
      Could you link me to the forums you had mentioned? :)
      Thanks again, you're a legend :D

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před rokem

      Yeah no problem :D
      If you can, make sure to get the 2.0, the 1.8 has all kinds of knows issues (including oil consumption, timing chain stretching, tensioner and water pump failure). Also the 2.0 has much greater userbase/cheap spare parts/aftermarket parts available because some variant of it has been used on almost every Volkswagen Group owned car from the last 15 years.
      I just realized some good forums i often used are in German haha, but make shure to check out:
      www.a5oc.com/
      as well as
      www.audiworld.com/
      My personal recommendation would be a 2.0 manual with Quattro (the FWD haven’t got the best traction some wheelspin in second gear out of corners if you floor it, especially if you tune the engine a bit). That should be a perfect Allrounder with little to no issues.

    • @czLochy
      @czLochy Před rokem

      @@maximusoptimusTECH
      Damn! And here I thought 1.8’s were more reliable lmao, guess not, also very good to know, 2.0 it is!
      I could theoretically get the 2.0 manual with Quattro, but I think I’ll have to sacrifice Quattro if I don’t want to wait another year or sell my kidney.. xD
      I’ll have to drive to Germany, buy it, pay for insurance to be able to drive it from Germany back home, then get it through Czech TÜV, after that pay for various bureaucracies to get it registered, then finally accompany that with already insane insurance costs, I'll be glad to have a little reserve for repairs and maintenance after it’s all said and done..🤣🥲
      Extra costs galore :’)
      Thank you for all the advice again, I appreciate it a bunch!

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před rokem +1

      Haha yeah, the more you know :)
      I mean if you’re just looking after a normal daily driver, and don’t plan an driving much in the snow you should be able to sacrifice the Quattro. Just don’t expect any more fun than you would get out of a Golf GTI (so no drifting in winter haha) ^^
      Also without Quattro you should get a little bit better fuel economy, as you have no extra losses for the AWD system.
      But I have to say, that sounds very complicated, why not just buy one used in your country?

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před 2 měsíci

      Any wheel of the A4/5/Q5 or S/RS models will work. Just make sure that you get one with or without paddle shifters depending on what transmission you have.

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před 10 měsíci

      It didn’t come with an airbag, I bought that from a second seller on eBay. It was shipped as a normal package, although I think it had the same kind of warning labels as bigger batteries.

    Don't you need to "re-learn" the slight rool-down function of the electric windows required to open the window-frameless doors on on an Audi A5 after the battery has been disconnected. Manual says the module "forgets" that, if the battery is disconnected. In other words don't disconnect the battery with doors closed - Am I correct?

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes that is correct, but after reconnecting the battery all you have to do is manually (by continuing to press the button) roll down the window to the full stop up and down once or twice. And yes keep the door open, apart from the relearning without power the windows won’t go down anyway when you try to open the door.

    Kannst du ein paar lenkräder aufschreiben die zum Audi A5 8T Vorfacelift passen würden? (Plug und Play)

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před rokem

      Lenkräder passen alle die beim Facelift vorkamen, also alle mit dem großen Mode Button links. Die einzelnen Teilenummer weiß ich nicht auswendig aber wenn du mal in Foren suchst gibt’s bestimmt ne Auflistung. Sonst findet man auch genug davon auf eBay, da sollte ja immer bei stehen welche Auto passen. An sich passen sowieso alle Lenkräder von der A4/5 Q5 B8 Facelift Platform auch auf das vorfacelift. Du solltest halt keins nehmen was vom A3/A6 etc kommt, da sind die Knöpfe und Airbags andere.
      Airbag gibt’s nur die eine Teilnummer soweit ich weiß sind die alle gleich egal welches Lenkrad.

    do you think the heated steeringwheel is plug and play as well

    • @maximusoptimusTECH
      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před 8 měsíci

      There was no option for a heated steering wheel on any A4/5 of this generation. So trying to fit one from another car won’t work as there are no connection/wires that support that function sadly.

      @maximusoptimusTECH  Před rokem

      Okey ich habe nicht das aller erste Modelljahr, aber hatte zumindest dazu nichts gefunden dass die was anderes haben.
      Gute Frage, bin ganz ehrlich der von Need4Stream ist echt nicht schlecht, aber hat mit der Zeit viele kurze Aussetzer in der Musik. Das CarPlay Modul ist auch mega geil nicht nur wegen Musik sondern halt auch Navi aber finde da die sound quali nicht so super geil auf Dauer fehlt da gefühlt immer noch was.
      Eigentlich ist der simple A2DP Aux Adapter der mit der besten Qualität und stabilsten Verbindung, aber der hat weder Titel Anzeige noch funktionieren die Knöpfe zum skippen.
      Werde denke ich als nächstes mal nen RSNAV ausprobieren, vielleicht ist ja das die Lösung für alle Probleme die die einzelnen Dinger haben.
