From the information on Aerosoft's website, the differences between the advanced and light versions seem to be that the advanced version also includes the 'homebuild experimental' variant, the tablet/EFB (moving map, weight & balance, walkaround feature - including prop rotation), and the in-game checklist and associated camera positions. I suppose those add something, but I think I'll stick to flying the Icon A5 when I want to fly a small amphibious aeroplane.
The material they are trying to recreate on the dash may be what we in the U.S. call Line-X or Rhinoliner, an extremely tough texturized plastic coating originally designed as a spray on truck bed protective coating. The fact that it is on the flap handle as well makes me think so even more since it has come to be used as a protective covering for all kinds of applications.

Thanks, I saw it and quickly came here for a review. I will buy it as on sale and it just has more character than the ICON.

I do it that way specifically because Most users will... and also, reviewing something when you know every quirk and behavior isn't very honest.

So many great add-ons I've bought that I barely have time to fly them before the next one catches my eye.
Saying that, doing a SeaRay tour of the Bahamas is really, REALLY, tempting.
Yeah I'm in the same boat (haha). I already bought the Kodiak Amphibian, so I feel like buying two seaplanes in the same week might be a little excessive. So tempting though. This looks like a really fun plane!

Not a bad small sea plane and i might want to add it to my hanger since ive been such a sea plane junky lately. So for my favorite sea planes are the flying boats. A couple days ago, I just got the Dornier and the big Marchetti. I been flying them both a lot since i got them, great fun.
If you like seaplanes, get the Kodiak Amphibian! I have the wheels version and the Amphibian version, both are great.

Is it carpet on the dash or a marine grade foam/fiberglass material?

Not great but not terrible like anything in the water
It's not carpet on the dash it's that hard plastic with an artificial bumpy texture to it like you get on guitar amps etc.
So excited we are now getting the “walk around” feature we enjoyed on XP11 ! Just hoping we get to the point where you walk about using a controller and click on parts as you go past them
I think the tablet and all that is taken out of the non advanced version, think I read that when I bought it, but I could be wrong. That would make more sense, I dont see why they would skimp on PBR for one and not the other... that seem very silly.
Have you seen the new instrument on the windshield? I wait for gliders, this developer will implement them in MSFS for Asobo, if the quality is this one I am optimistic....... wonderful aircraft this Searey
There’s a few string yaw indicator equipped aircraft already in sim including the gotfriends glider

I cannot find the anchor that is mentioned in the documentation. Can you assist? Did you come across it in your exploits!?
Sadly no me neither
The break works whilst on the water, i'm guessing that's the anchor
At last - a Rotax powered machine that doesn't just use the VL3 sound pack. Loving the walk around feature too. This looks right to my street.

Hi, totally off the wall question, but you have an extra hangar in your Orcas Island scenery. How did you get it there? I checked for an update and nothing. Did you put it there yourself??? It's next to the "terminal" building where the passengers enter and exit. Nice reviews btw. I always enjoy them.
It’s an addon photosbykev the scenery dev made for me as “avangels hangar” it didn’t show up for a bit but I guess it’s back!

Great review! Just one visial thing. The early views 3 mins, show wheels correctly sat on the concrete? Must be a MSFS thing or is ir the model. External click spots seem off. How do you inflate tyre pressures? Closing canopy doesnt affect engine sound. Cockpit does look rather flat, bit FSX like, more 32 bit like! Sorry, I know this is picky! But if your paying for it it should be good!
It’s how it displays in the preview view, tail draggers often sit weird

I've noticed that if you put the break on in the water, it works just like on land and stops you right where you are. An invisible anchor it seems

The tablet has a basic one
According to the manual, It is not visible but can be controlled via the MSFS key bind TOGGLE AUTOPILOT MASTER.
• Activates altitude hold mode
• Sets NAV source to GPS
• Activates NAV to follow GPS route
Or if no flight plan was set on the World map it falls back to heading hold mode
I bought this thing and its very nice, but... I took it for a flight and tried to do a SkyPark job in it, 94 nm flight... about 60 or 70 nm in... it just dies, everything dies, I had to ditch it in a field, I could not find a way to lower the gears even, had to land it on the hull... very annoying because I had to cancel my SkyPark job... We have seen alot of weird electrical issues over the years in planes. Over all I really like it tho, and hopefully the little niggles will get sorted. Maybe I did something wrong but I dont think so... was not pushing it hard, and it was not like the engine just died, all the electronics died, everything...
It dies cause the Generator doesn´t work at the moment. Check Voltage on the EIS. On lower RPM the Battery discharges faster, High RPM isnt able to charge the battery. Also the manual tells #1 fuelpump is connected directly to the battery, but I did testings and it its #2, so turn that off gives a little bit more time until battery dies. I´ve reported the bugs to Aerosoft and they are looking into it.

Well I guess I'll to take that back. Just had the sim crash again.
The carpet on the glareshield is the least of the problems with this product. The sounds are deplorable. The continuous clanking sound at any power setting above slightly higher than fast idle will drive any sane person nuts within minutes. There is no touch down sound at all when you land on the water. I did my money on this and I am not happy, Aerosoft! There are freeware aircraft that have great sounds - yes, freeware so my advice would be to forgo this one.

This thing was causing my graphics card issue. Uninstalled and no more issue.
How so?
@@AvAngel I started to get a message pop up that said Graphics driver has I countered a problem. Either from overheatin,overclocked or a memory problem. Then it would CTD. Come to find out a number of other people are getting the same message. Well I tried different things to no avail. Once I u installed this airplane the problem went away. I was having a problem with the Garmin in front of the pilot seat turning off also.
