    Don't forget, you need to be using Cycles for the panoramic camera to work

      Correct. Although ill add tat there is a script to use that will allow you to render something in eevee for 360.

    The problem with rendering 360º with Cycles is the time.
    You can do this with EEVEE but takes more steps and storage but less render time.

    Hi, thanks for the tutorial.
    May i ask, are there any difference if render in 360 and 3d stereoscopic 360? Cause I saw other tutorials including the stereoscopic in camera setting. I wonder will it make difference when we put on the headset to watch either vr 360 video or vr 3d 360 video? 🤔

    For whatever reason, this didn't work for me. I rendered the pano as an openEXR, and it came out fine; but when I uploaded the video to CZcams I ended up with a 360 where the pano only shows up as part of the sphere, even though I used the VSE to render an MP4. Anybody know why that might happen?

    Olav, great video, thx! Question: I'm looking to do a 360 video that allows the user to rotate around an object. Rather than the camera looking around. Have you done this? If so, please give me your insight or thoughts. Or, link to your video. Thank you.

    • @luminousdragon
      @luminousdragon Před 2 lety +1

      Thats not really possible with a static video. (but I do have a suggestion)
      With a 360 video, there is still a single static image at any given frame. So with a normal video the video image is a rectangle. with 360, its a sphere, and unless you aere in VR you are looking at a rectangular chunk of it at any time. The video is static but you are choosing which section of the full image you are viewing. This is why its so intensive to play a 360 video at a high resolution. you are essentially playing 2 or 3 videos at the same time, but only seeing one of them.
      Now here's why your idea is a problem. Technically what you want can be done. Basically it would be like the Matrix Bullet time footage: czcams.com/video/bKEcElcTUMk/video.html Doesnt matter if your object is cgi or not, you would be rendering out a shot from every angle possible at any given moment. so instead of rendering just 2 or 3 videos at once like 360 view, it would be many more..
      AT this point its not feasible to stream a video online on youtube or something.
      But there is somewhat of a solution:
      sketchfab.com/3d-models/corgi-animated-132e3bb7e52f47c89bba65bbb5978e4b
      Sketchfab will display your blender models and they can be animated and a person can circle around the model, viewing it from any angle, while it is animated. This is your best best.

    i dont undersrtand how it can be 3d becuase your camera shows the blue tractor and you didnt chnage any camera or file settings

    • @michaeldamolsen
      @michaeldamolsen Před 3 lety +1

      at 0:38 when he sets the camera to "Panoramic" and "Equirectangular" you still see only the tractor framed. What happens is, the frame shows what you are currently looking at, but blender will actually render the whole scene around you. The player can then later show you a smaller subsection of the full rendered image, depending on the direction you are looking. This is why you have to use that tool to inject the metadata after rendering the video file, so the player can later determine which part of the image to show for a given viewing direction.
      So in fact, he did change the camera settings, and he later changed the file settings using that python tool.
