  • In this video I wanted to share a wage slave rant. Explaining why you are not your job. Escaping the 9-5 rat race using quiet quitting makes sense. My experience shows me that the corporate work and HR is a lie. So this rant is to remind you to reach financial freedom. Its important.

You have the freedom to choose which corporate job you want to be at. And if you don’t want to sit in an office all day, get a remote job or take on a job that allows you more freedom like being a plumber or electrician. They make great pay and are outside all day.

I drive buses here in Florida. There’s this one guy at my job who looks so miserable and grumpy all the time that he still has to drive a bus in his 50’s or 60’s. You can see it all over his face. There’s another guy that’s 62 and he tells me he plans to work 3 more years so he can get another $200 a month when he retires at 65. There’s another guy that’s 81 and still working. They all inspire me to get out of this as soon as I can because it only gets worse as time goes on.

I myself was never meant to be stuck in a job, nor accept the requirement for one. However I have been working 40 plus hours a week for the past 24 years. It is soul crushing. With recent discussions with my wife about wage slavery and needing a job for money, I have fallen into a deep depression account it. My wife accepts it as necessary, but I still cannot mentally accept it. As much as I try to look on the bright side of work, I feel as I am a slave. I too wish I could be happy being used to make other people rich, but unfortunately I can’t. I would rather be poor and homeless than having to work another day.

I already have the land you speak of and would personally prefer the lack of luxury items. My issues in remaining a slave to wages is the cost of healthcare for a family member of mine I pay for as they cannot work nor afford the associated care costs.. In the US healthcare costs can be excessively absorbent and another form chains to the system. I cannot afford to start businesses when any excess funds go to these medical costs. These are not luxury items, but rather its keeping family alive. I appreciate your incite though…

I am 23 years old and from Spain 🇪🇸. When I was 18/19, I decided to get a dual international degree in business in the USA and Spain. Well, when I was done, I came back to my country since I didn’t want to stay where they offered me the job; I wanted to escape this matrix and learn day trading. However, things went south and trading might be one of the most difficult skills to ever learn. Long story short, I found a graduate job in Amazon as a corporate low level manager. Well, 3 months later, I put my 4 weeks notice and quitted. That happened yesterday.
I am young, but I think that if you’re feeling like it’s all a trap, it’s because it may be.

Annnnd they fired me. Good riddance. While the last few years have been challenging being underemployed, it’s been a blessing to slowly build my own business (novel writing, musician, gigging) and allow myself to recover my energy. A flex schedule lets me sleep in for 10+ hours, destress, eat healthy on my own schedule, take as much time as I need on projects, choose my clients wisely, work from home (so I can care for our Malinois and garden). It’s peaceful. I can also visit loved ones during the day, do grocery shopping, whatever. It’s pleasant! I think about when I recover 💯 but I don’t want to be stressed and reactivate EBV either… nor would I be content with a 9-5 for long.

This is what I explained to people to wake up. 90 to 95 percent of population has been forced to be in a wage slave, meaning we are born to become a cog for a company's clockwork. You are being used as a cog until you are worn out and replaced by another cogs in line. You are taught in schools how to become a cog, into different shapes of a cog to fit in certain company clockwork. Governments made sure you mostly have a cog's purpose mentality so you don't get an idea of a financial freedom. How do they distract you from thinking that way? By dividing the society by making them care about pointless issues like race, or discrimination or climate change or other situations. Rather than having society look at the real issue that points back at the top, for example, the government and top rich who is running the show. They are terrified that the idea that if majority of the work force figured out that they have the power over the top people, it is over for them.
The point is, we are all in a slave wage boat and our lifetime is mostly being taken away in order to keep up in the rat race which is depressing and the harsh reality is that as long as majority of people are still asleep in this rat race. In USA, rat race is disguised as The American Dream. More like it's a nightmare.

I could have written your comment exactly except I'm in the UK. It's so nice to meet other people who can see through the system! I often feel like an outcast who doesn't fit in, I saw through the work system 20 years ago and it's been so difficult trying to figure out a path, surrounded by people who see nothing wrong with our current system. They are placated by pubs, alcohol, bank Holidays and a two week summer holiday. The Royals occasionally give the peasants an extra day off and people go crazy for that, it's insane. In reality we need to get rid of this insanely unfair top down system that brainwashed the masses so that they can be exploited and they even thank and worship the exploiters.

We must comply to the government and businesses or else get rejected to reach the scrap money per large amount of your time. Time is valuable to the company. Let me elaborate.
You are giving up 2/3 of your time to a company to enjoy short time of your time and scraps of money you earned. While the top people keeps most of the money and they can enjoy their 2/3 of time with it. This is why majority are depressed and unhappy.

For example there is this guy at work that is such a damn people pleaser and can never put a boundary on anything, like please have some respect for yourself, it's just a job. A powerful and memorable video! Thank you, Tom. :) :) You did a very good job in substantiating your assertions by providing concrete and specific examples. The Milgram obedience experiments that you mentioned have wide-ranging implications for our human world as it partly explains “man’s inhumanity to man” perpetrated by Nazi officers who were carrying out Hitler’s orders while becoming desensitized or numb to the horrors of the Holocaust.
This video is memorable as it is a sweet disturbance, a gentle disorder, and a positive anarchy. It comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable…
I deeply love the abiding truth articulated by you: “People are so much more. As they perhaps have kids, or a spouse, or friends. They identify with the sum of their experience.” In fact, the critical thinking, the process of connecting the dots, and seeing through the fog espoused by your narrative are parallel to Shakespeare’s passage in Hamlet about the importance of thinking deeply about things, the capabilities and virtues of pondering and reflecting the essence of life, which also encompasses savouring life through creativity, laughter, and play:
“What a piece of work is man!
    how noble in reason!
    how infinite in faculty!
in form and moving, how express and admirable!
in action, how like an angel!
in apprehension, how like a god!...”

Also some people try businesses and fail. Businesses are also tough and come with their own challenges. I worked more hours on a business than I ever did with a 9 to 5 and it still failed and I lost most of my investment. So jobs are the best way for most people to earn a living, at least for the time being. Do you propose any better system?

If Japan wants cheap labours to boost their economy because of population decline, which happened in the first place because someone wanted to become rich at the expense of their own citizens by forcing them to do overtime. Now they are running out of human beings so they are trying to hunt cheap labours from third world countries having a population outburst of unemployed people.
But still they want to impose their ideology and culture on the people who are coming to this country. That's why the majority of the immigrants don't want to go and work in countries like Japan and Germany.
Wage slavery on top of that imperialism also, it's too much.....

In other words saying you either work or you starve and I just laughed at his face when he said that Tom him and a few other managers in the office because it confirmed that what I’ve been watching about wage slavery and the evil corporations was all true all along!!!

A couple of years ago I had a co worker that kept working until he was 72 years old. When he finally retired he cashed out all of his 401K and lost 55% in taxes and fees and he and his wife were going to travel with that money. Six weeks later he ended up taking a helicopter ride to the hospital instead with a major stroke among other issues and almost didn't survive. Now after working his a$$ for almost 60 years he gets to be bed ridden at home and roll around his his larger than normal social security checks. You only get one life and one retirement enjoy life to it's fullest.

I work in healthcare, for a company which has fine tuned the art of overworking people for substantial pay. I came to realize just how much I hate my job after I thought "there is nothing I could go out and buy that would make me happy, nothing could wipe the misery and exhaustion I go through every single day there". But I was quick to find one thing my savings could buy: freedom through investments. The freedom to one day advise the people I work for on how to shove it up their %$$. I still work there, I'm 40. But I will definitely be retired by the age of 45. Maybe earlier with a deep enough crash in the stock market.

My rude awakening, epiphany moment was in 2017 August, realising that specific people own the whole damn planet and I am from the losers that won't have 1 dollar/euro or whatever currency if I don't work. And also the fact that anybody can make themselves rich. On one hand people are taught by everything that you are supposed to work and it is the most normal thing. And you are also taught that money comes to those who put in the work. And the truth is, the rich people don't work at all. Others work for them. And they have received ridiculous amount of help from people, things, events. And yes we definitely need to work, everything you use is there because someone worked, society will collapse if nobody works. Even so, we know that some people don't have to lift a finger their whole entire lives on this planet. That's why I am financially well now, once you see how utterly one sided the world is. Either become rich or die trying. Most people are not capable of doing the necessary sacrifices to become rich.

...and obviously great content, as well! It's crazy that we got The Matrix and Fight Club in the same year!
Also, it's worth noting, that historians actually have no idea at all how the pyramids were built, who built them, and what they were built for... So anybody who tries to tell you different, is simply theorizing. Yet, knowing our past (and present), I can agree with you that slave labor is a very safe hypothesis!
