      whatever you are comfortable with. generally people do duck so they can ride switch too and it feels the same, but there's no specific rule.+15 -15 is used widely though, but don't feel like you have to stick to that, play around and see what works best for you

  • @Gregor-em3ws
    @Gregor-em3ws Před 2 lety +1

    Each time I am wondering why the US and Canada have this crappy super old chairlifts, in addition with this manual super human power to slow them down 😀 Lift tickets in Europe are way cheaper with, in comparison, high tech chairlifts 😆

    • @eriksmolenski3715
      @eriksmolenski3715 Před 2 lety +1

      Because at Baker they have a thing about NOT putting 1000's of people on the mountain. Lifts in Europe in the big commercial resorts are a joke, I completely avoid the big resorts in the French alps and go to the States. Whenever you see big 8person lifts, huge piste networks etc....they're the places to avoid. The PNW has the best freeride resorts in the world....and I'm from Europe.

    • @Gregor-em3ws
      @Gregor-em3ws Před 2 lety

      @@eriksmolenski3715 I do not agree, but I do not speak for France but for Germany, Swiss, Austria, Italy. I have been to almost all resorts in Colorado and that is commercial like hell, especially Vail, Breck and with lift tickets above $200 per day + the icon pass itself. Vail has maybe one european style chairlift- all other crap chairlifts…I do not mean the slopes and the freeride possibilities. So it has nothing to do with not wanting too much people there, it’s just not wanting to invest. All the big resorts I have been are often overcrowded, the smaller like loveland und A Basin bit less, but have the crappy 80’s style chair lifts too…

    • @polarisstar3536
      @polarisstar3536 Před 11 měsíci

      @@Gregor-em3ws that's because Colorado IS commercial as hell. Mainly because the Rockies are generally more rolling and more accessible, as well as it's always cold there so its relatively easy to maintain snow on the ground, even if it means manually creating it. In the PNW it's a much different story. The mountains are considerably more rugged, with a more fluctuating freezing level and tremendously more moisture which can mean either rain or record-breaking snowfall. Because of this, there hasn't been an ability much less incentive for local hills to go all out on becoming a resort, in fact -- to my knowledge -- there's really only one resort in Washington which has lodging near the mountain (Crystal Mountain). All of this contributes as to why small ski areas in the PNW -- though in big terrain -- don't need a reason nor have the funds to upgrade their old reliable chairlifts.
