as a mercy main you have to juggle dmg boost to make use of all your teams abilities so her soj is the main pocket but will pocket turret form
Bastion: all the problems of tank, with none of the workarounds.
Edit: this comment managed to show all the people who lack skill and are impatient enough to wait 6 seconds to kill a character with the biggest hitbox of all characters besides tanks.
Bastion was a relic and devs don't know what to do with him so they, just like OW2, overdo his kit for the sake of diversity in designing heroes

So true. As a Bastion main since ow1, turret being reworked makes total sense to me.
What doesn’t tho, is removing his self heal & replacing it with basically a Junkrat shot that does less damage, and his random ultimate change which was literally only changed for the sake of changing.
Literally “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” was all they needed believing. Only his turret needed fixing.

I’ve been asking Awkward to play Junk for years, if he does a Unranked to GM with him then he is done, he beat Overwatch and can retire as the one true goat of OW, who dominated every single hero.

i do agree that hanzo counters bastion well, his huge hitbox is like pretty much perfect for his arrows, its like a target box
hanzo is indeed a bastion counter, hanzo is also a tank counter right now as well, its basically all hes good for with the removal of his one shot.

Is it arguable that he might be good for a beginner to learn the utmost basics of the game? Meaning more like, due to the huge hitbox, you learn to take cover more often for example. Couple that with the slow movement, with exception of using the 'nade hop. The fire rate seems like it's solid and repeatable, but causes you to time them better to connect. That sort of thing? I play Mystery Heroes quite often as I enjoy the challenge of adapting on the fly, and I've found that sometimes my "tempo" with his shots gets completely off and I manage to swing to the target in-between the shots, then they move. Just tossing it out there, not saying I'm right.
In the end you're still playing overwatch and anything is going to teach you a bit. But by playing bastion you're learning a playstyle that basically only applies to bastion. Not only that, but playing bastion in bronze-silver elo rewards bad positioning and bad cooldown management just because people don't know how to play around bastion's only cooldown and run into him in turret form, and you'll be rewarded for blasting out turret form as soon as you see red. I have been playing with a friend who only plays bastion, and after a year of playing he still does this, which means he must get rewarded for it in his games
In theory your reasoning is sound, but in reality, bastion is such a noobstomper that if you play against other new players, that you can do all of the things you can do wrong and still do well, while if you play something like soldier or cassidy, you're still gonna learn all of those basics, but you won't have your turret form to delete everything in sight, so you will actually have to learn how to get small advantages to win duels.

@@sykotikOG Yes, but it depends on what you mean by climb. I would say they start to get exposed as you get to high silver-low gold, and unfortunately not everybody gets there. But if they do get there, at that point it's more likely that they will understand the limitations about the hero and will learn something else.
However, sure, if they do stick to it, they will learn to position better and to manage their cooldowns, but if the learning happens only once you get to play with slightly competent people, then I wouldn't say it's good for a beginner, by that point you will build up many bad habits.
My philosophy is that it's better to learn with a hero that likely punishes your mistakes no matter who you're playing against, instead of characters whose power is highly dependend on who you're playing against.
@@monny1815 Well, I can't deny the point about changing up characters, that actually occurred to me after typing up my response. I suppose I could argue "Bastion teaches you to pick a better character" but I feel like it's a bit reductive lol (I kid I love)

surely his turret only lasts 6seconds but think about how much potential damage he can do in that 6 seconds of time. i dont think he needs anything done with him, if hes given any other movement than nade he will be borderline op, maybe they could remove the self damage from his grenade but thats it, even buffing turret movement speed would not be good imo. literally no one likes tank buster heroes and tank buster metas, bastion is in a position where he should be. he shouldnt be a not good all arounder, no hero should be and bastion definetly has his moments
Yeah he’s slow he’s really tough to pull off on certain maps but as long as you’re hiding behind a tank that’s taking the hits or you’re knowing when to fall back he’s got super good damage he melts anyone who can’t get away fast enough
I don’t know why lower rank players don’t like playing against a bastion as a silver soldier player I love going against a bastion he is so easy to hit and as long as you don’t challenge his turret form you will be fine

Bastion requires more coverage from the team and its all ways been like this since ow1.
He is just a big bulky target thats easy to hit, takes way to much damage.
I feel like playing lw with bastion is a good start. You can petal the turrent to give a good advantage point and life grip him out of most danger. Your worst matchups are going to be snipers, even if they miss they will still body you to no hp. The phara will just play super long distance and pressure you out. When they do commit its a surprise attack over a building.

I happen to be a bastian main, its fun... sometimes. On one hand flank8ng theenemu team and killing everyone at the start of the game is great, however therest of the game isnt so great when said enemy team consists of sigma, genji, widow, kiriko, and moria.

As someone who used to main bastion, and still enjoys playing him, part of the fun to me is that he’s a weak character. Playing him in gm lobbies gets old fast though, they always swap to dva and that takes away any ability I have to flank or make fun plays

There’s a lot of problems with bastion, if u use turret to late, the enemy team can just mow u down or you used it for no reason and it’s on cooldown, if u use it to early, there won’t be any enemies for u to shoot at, and let’s talk about his hit box, which is hella huge. Although he has an extra 100 hp from the average damage, it’s ok, but positioning really matters with bastion as you really want to try to hide as much of that hitbox u have since if u don’t, ur just gonna get cooked, oh yea did I mention that DVA has a 3.5 second defense matrix?! Like what da hell blizzard. But overall, your gameplay was solid, you had decent positioning, pretty risky flanks, and good aim, might need a little work for ult tho lol😂 but I consider bastion to be one of the worst characters in the game rn
