I actually really like this better than Fuego. I can see some similarities but Replay is the stronger song. The lyrics and Tamata's vocals are better.

I say this as someone who loves both Fuego and Replay: I'm a getting a bit of a bitter aftertaste from this, because if it would've been any other country to choose this, there might already be plagiarism investigations going on by now. I guess as long as a broadcaster chooses to copy a song from themselves, it's fine.
I got the song stuck in my head ever since I heard the leaked demo version, and every other time, instead of "That's when you call me, that's when you call me", the little Tamta in my head starts singing "Cause I'm way up, and I ain't cooling down", because the build-up of both songs is so similar.
I have to repeat this (because hardocre fans have a hard time realizing that you can both like and criticise something), I personally really like this song, but it just feels odd that it appears as if they didn't make any effort to be different from last year. From the beginning on, they were promoting this as "Fuego, but better", and that already was a red flag for me. It's the same recipe again and you can only repeat it so many times before it gets boring. As in, yes, of course I'll take an amazing chocolate cake (Cyprus 2018 and 2019) over a stale slice of plain toast (Montenegro 2019) any day, that doesn't mean I want to only eat chocolate cake for the rest of my life.
It does feel like Fuego recycled. It's not that the melody is the same or anything, it's just the structure and genre of the song is pretty much the same.
I can see why you would think that but if you focus on the musicals aspect of the build up you can hear it actually is very different. The only thing which is similar are the verses and the structure of the song.

Though I'm not too keen on both Cypriot entries, I agree with the overall explanation here. It's just appears lazy and afraid to try different to win. Both are not bad, just that these are songs that had been played numerous times in the past (Fuego has some ethnic sound though).
I have to disagree with Montenegro being stale. People need to stop thinking as if it's the bane of every ESC fans, for God sake! At least they're daring enough to send different (I personally really like it). Plus, it's still getting a revamp.

It will depend on the staging, judging by the song itself i dont see it winning...but its top5 for sure.
I don't know, nobody saw Fuego winning based on the music video alone. I agree, it depends on the staging a lot. Also the vocals have to be good, the biggest part of why nobody saw Eleni coming was because people though her vocals are weak.

For those who say it's similar to fuego, at least its not the exact same. There are similarities across pop songs all the time, I don't get why people say this. If you say it's generic however, suppose your right about that - either way, to be fair I don't care personally because there is hardly any party songs yet. Probably around like 5 maybe 6 or something💜

Cyprus is really clever to build such a close relationship with Wiwibloggs as it's (don't know if I have my facts right) the biggest Eurovision loving community. This came online the exact same time as the release of the music video, meaning there probably was early access for Wiwibloggs and how they are always so open to interviews, it's a great strategy to get people to like your entry and form a bond with the artist. Cyprus knows how to play this game the right way.

The video was uploaded 2 minutes after the song *started" its premier on CZcams. I feel like they got the video clip before it was originally released 🙄
She probably sent it to wiwibloggs before she released it.
It got also released 30 minutes before the yt premier on the Cypriot tv
Actually they DID send the video to some CZcams channels so they have time to edit their videos.. For Cyprus its like extra promotion of the song! its called "marketing" honeyy!! :D

I think that the song does have some similarities with Fuego yes. But I think that we were in desperate need of uplifting dance pop songs this year. We've had ballad after Ballad after ballad, it's a bit refreshing to be honest.
If you look at the roaster this year, from the songs that have been released already, the show will benefit from a song that will slap us up, give us some booty and kicks and generally push it.
That being said I think beyond the fact that it's a pop song that does remind Cyprus previous entry, it's a top 3 considering how weak this year seems to be.
Last year everyone seemed to disregard Eleni, I'm sure that Cyprus will definitely take good choreographers and stage managers in order to push it as much as possible
It's the same team as last year, you see Eleni she is good we know her we love her but Tamta she is in another level, she is not that wild dancer as Eleni but she always delivers and it's Gooooood.

Not a bad song but not a great one either. If fuego couldn’t win this definitely can’t win either there’s nothing unique about it.
Fuego reached second place because of how charming and hard worker is Eleni. She was not even among the favourites last year at all, then she came, she slayed up to second position and made Netta to sweat and worry about the title. So I guess it can be the same, if Tamta is strong and charming, she can be a much better contender with a very good and contemporary song. At the end of the day, whose song is now everywhere in Europe? Eleni is just in every single radio station and Fuego is bigger than a year ago when it was released and Netta is kind of forgotten.
xander142 I agree with you and I think this will be a big hit across Europe and Eurovision needs upbeat fun songs like this but most people see this for the first time on the night and even though eleni performed incredibly on the night it still wasn’t enough to win and I think this will be the same with this song somebody with a more unique song or staging would beat this that being said I still think this will likely finishing top 10

@nature giver true! Part from fuego and replay, Cyprus sends good songs, for example! Eyridiki, Ivi adamou, havoc had amazing songs.
Not entirely, of course as the drop is different. But the overall formula (buildup and melody in the verses) is more or less very similar to Fuego. Had they go for something that does not resemble Fuego this much, I don't think many will criticise Replay.
And yes, Cyprus can still win :)

PEOPLE. its a pop song. yes it sounds similar to fuego. BUT both fuego and replay are pop songs. there is only a handful of things to alter and maintain the pop nature of a song. ANW this is a NICE POP song and the ONLY pop song for this year so enough with the 'music elitists' here. she is contesting in Eurovision, not the opera house!!!
