    Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei won the men's 5,000m final at #Tokyo2020, with a time of 12:58.15. The 24-year-old athlete stormed to the front to take an impressive gold ahead of Mohammed Ahmed from Canada (12:58.61). The bronze medal went to the USA's Paul Chelimo who finished the race in 12:59.05.

      @@Whale15 I think he should have been DQ’d at the trials but not here. He didn’t shift lanes in this race all he did was throw his head forward and fell. Happens a lot and there’s nothing wrong with it. Now in the trials yes, what he did was wrong and he shouldn’t have blocked off Fisher and Kincaid like that

    5k races is one of most i respect. Not slow like a 10k, almost in a pace of sprinting for 13 minutes. It seem like something you can do, but then when you see times they've done it becomes impressive.

      I was so happy for him too the Kenyan was getting a little handsie in the final laps, reaching back and pushing him, so he could get onto the curb and shorten his last bend. Chelimo didn't give up, all the way to the last step.

      Yup! That's why I think Paul Chelimo (USA) needs to reevaluate and move to the 10k or half marathon if he can.
      He isn't getting any faster and he is aged 30. 8 years and two Olympics, coming in 2nd and 3rd, is a long time. Can he really stay at 5k level for the next Olympics??🤔

    Amazing how Grijalva runs a new PB while most other NCAA athletes are burnt out from such a long season. He's one to watch on the collegiate scene next year. I believe that this year was his junior year of the University of Northern Arizona.

      @@AR-iw4xr what do you mean by "your nonsense"? His coach said it, Cheptegei himself said it and Kiprotich said it. Of course he did it for the whole of Uganda but his main motivation is always Kapchorwa and the Sebei people. If you have problem with it, write to him directly.
      Edit: Also, his tribe was historically oppressed by the surrounding tribes and is still extremely poor till today so he recognized the need of attention and support, the athletes are bringing improvement to the region and the standard of life of the locals through sports.

    I thought I could run, came out for a warm up very early in the morning it was really serious for me I used to run when I was in the secondary school so I thought I could, came out took a few steps and turned back walking home I was so exhausted and out of breath and 8 have not jogged since then it was more of a traumatic experience. The way this guy's do it's still a mystery to me all I can say is respect

      Cheptegeis records shouldn't be official just like kipchoges 1:59:40 marathon isn't official.
      For Cheptegei’s 10,000-meter record (26:11.00), except for his final 1,000-meter stretch, every other 1,000-meter split was within a second of 2:37, a metronomic mark that would be difficult to replicate with just a watch.
      THE WAVELIGHTS ARE CHEATING METHODS. a computer literally telling athletes the exact pace they need to run.. BULLSHIT
