    Thanks for the video I was sure I messed up driving the inner race in to far good to know I just had to tap it back against the clip saved me from handing it over to a shop who I'm sure would've charged me for my ignorance.

    Get to do all of this and more on my 2006 Duramax. Have a pile of new parts and tools. Backing plates, E-brake actuators and all new shoes, pads, rotors and bearings and seals. E-brake imploded a few years ago. Timken SET38, 382A, 387AS.

    Great tip about getting the fluid to go both ways and check it again. She'll be good for another 18 years if the rust doesn't get something else.

    Nice camera angles. We could see pretty much everything. And as we know, when you have thousands of dollars in tools, you have to do your own work to justify having them. :)

    Put the hub in the freezer, take a propane blowtorch to the bearings or just the race's like I did and give just a few love taps with a block of wood.. Like my dad always said, "just remember KISS, keep it simple stupid.

      Do you mean the hub shrinks less than the bearing race when frozen? Or the hub expands more than the race when heated? Thanks

    The outer bearing is the bitch, but I also put my race in the freezer which helps a little on install.

    Hi
    Can I please have the number for the Snap on pliers and the axle nut socket?
    I saw a snap ring pliars. I don’t think you used them.
    I have 2 sets of snap ring pliers. One from Mac. Also a few lose ones
    I never have the correct ones.

    There’s that green hammer again, The best snap on tool they make, most you can live with out. But they are nice hand tools

    I would of packed the bearing with grease first before driving the race would make it go alot smoother and keep the bearing protected... oh wait these are Full Float Axle Hubs Huh? Oil Lubed Races and Bearings

    doing both mine this weekend. should be easy enough with this video. isnt there a trick to get the fluid to the bearing by doin circles?

      After filling with fluid just jack 1 side up at time higher than other so fluid runs to each axle bearing.

    Nice camera shots Mike. When you put the axel back it is there a fibe gasket or do you use RTV to seal the end from oil leaks .

    What socket is that for the internal "nut" with the keeper and Circlip? I find a lot of different sizes. I found one that says it fits 6 lug, aam 11.5...ours is 8 lug.
