New Wheel Bearing & Seal Kit from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1ASHS00841
If you hear a grinding or groaning noise while your vehicle is rolling, it might have a worn out wheel bearing. A worn bearing can allow the wheel to wobble, creating a host of other issues. To save yourself from more headaches down the road, replace your bearing right away. For solid rear axles, you'll need to replace the axle seal too. This video shows you how to install a new TRQ wheel bearing and axle seal on your 1988-2002 GMC K1500.

Its amazing how the drum brake components magically remove themselves and then replace themselves. Love it when vehicles do the work for me.
You make it look easy, especially since you have all the tools to do it with.
Great video. I do all the mechanical work on my onvehicles so needless to say I'm no professional but this video here made it so easy very well detailed
The engineers
Who designed that rear end are genius!!!
Are you being sarcastic or serious, lol?
Lol yes they are... super simple n easy to fix.. unlike my 03 tundra that is a royal PITA n costs stupid money to fix..
Great video. I have been a tech for 10 years and I have honestly never had to do a bearing, just a seal. Didn't know you could get that attachment for the slide hammer. looks like I will be talking with snap-on this week lol
Yes ill be talking with my harbor freight guy, haha.
Yes I'll be talking to a crackhead. Can't beat their tool prices.
🙂
This guy makes it look easy I might give it a shot I’m not young but I’ll try it good video thanks
Very professional video from a guy who knows his stuff. So refreshing.

This guy always has the best instructional videos. Thank you!!!
I like how he works on the things we work on out here😂. This man is the real deal. Unlike others that work on new things making it look easy

Very good video!! This video is well detailed, and professional Great Work!! Thank you 🙏🏾
That is very informative thank you sir!!! On to do the ones in my 98 Silverado now
I have a Chevy C1500, 200,000 mi, showing some sign of seals giving out. Do you have to replace bearings also, or only if they're showing damage? Differential's always been well cared for, drained on schedule.
Where can I find the torque specifications for that 8mm bolt holding that locking pin in. Have a 95 chevy c1500 don't have the owners manual for it
No sé hablar inglés pero Vi como lo isistes y aora aplicarme en mi camioneta Explorer gracias x tu vídeo y dios te cuide a ti y a todos de tu familia ,👍👍👍
Thanks for the vid. Does the orientation of the bearings matter? I installed mine with the stamped writing facing out.
FOR ME THIS VIDEO IS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND HELPFUL ,I JUST NEED SOME PRACTICE IN THE JUNKYARD. AND BUM I KNOW I GONNA BE READY THANK YOU MAN.
+Noe Arias Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Dude said he’d show us how to fill up the axle tubes later, but never mentioned it again!!!!
what size is that punch tool you are using to reinstall the bearing?
Very good video clear view and explain thank you
Bro you killed it in this video!
+Zenfire Trading Thanks for watching. Buy the part in this video on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
My 95k 1500 and I thank you🙏🏻helped a lot.
Hmmm.. Good video. I have a small (I hope) issue. I jacked only the wheel up that needed the seal, removed the pin etc, and the horseshoe clip refuses to drop, releasing the axle. Any suggestions, or do I need to have the whole rear lifted? Or??? Anything you can suggest would be appreciated.
Amazing video helps a lot
Great video!
How do you dispose of brake dust properly, put it in a bag and mail it to Greta? What's the fluid capacity? Same rearend in K2500?
Top notch vid!!
Good Vid. Thank you
Would this process be similar for a 1994 GMC G2500 Vandura 5.7L? Thank you.
Great video, I have a '89 Silverado. The 8mm bolt won't go back in. My pin is super tight. A 2lb hammer wouldn't move pin. IDK what to do now. Any suggestions
Hi mate great vedeo great explanation 👍 I have a 95 suburban 6.5TD and I discovered a cople days ago he starts leaking oíl from left side 🤔 so I need exactly what you did 😏 my it's a 8bolts hub!! do you know if is a similar seals? I need buying exactly match 😊 cheers from Norway 🇳🇴 👍
I just purchased a set of seals an bearings from TRQ. !!
Really good video.
Your video was really good except for you left out the part about removing all the breaks which is a major deal for some people
You actually don't have to remove all the brakes, he just did so you could see better my dude. Normally you would leave them on if they don't need to be replaced.
@@snapon454gaming6 thanks just answered a question I had
Yeah magically that new backing plate showed up LOL, that's a whole another video brakes
Yes sir great video very helpful
Thank you very much the very good excellent video !
+Robert Szuhoczki Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Very good vid thank you very much
God, I'm glad I'm not a mechanic up north, or by the ocean. Look at the rust. 😯
What are the torque specs for the locking bolt for the pin, the fill plug and the 10 bolts on the differential cover?
I can't get right size of bearing. It's to tight on shaft or to thick for tube. They only have 2 sizes at auto parts stores. I just don't get it.
Outstanding
Who makes that slide hammer attachment? Tool brand and part number?
why you didn't put synthetic grease on the bearing and on its housing?
I found adding a little heat with a tourch helps alot
Well explained video, thank you.
Is this the same on a 97 C1500 RWD
Hey guys someone know where to find all these torkspec for ur truck 🛻 Silverado 98
I recently replaced my axle bearings and seals. I noticed on the axle bore where the bearing is pressed into, has a rough spot inside of it, Would this cause any noises? Like a deceleration roar? I went ahead and pressed the bearing in since it was only the back of the race that was touching the rough spot. The spot is at the 12 o clock position, i suppose from the load of the axle..
Good work, how many hours did it take you?
Is there a C clips for each axle? Thank you and very professional video
Yes
Thank you
Bonk that seal right in there, love it!
That's the passenger side! what about the driver side shaft? I have to change the bearing wheel on both sides. That is the same differential (cover with 10 bolts) on my 1996 chevy pickup 4.3L -2WD. Help! : (
Still want to know the size of those punches you used on the install
you can buy a bearing race and seal driver kit from harbor freight, the kit comes with multiple different sizes of those circular drivers. just use the biggest one that will fit into the bore for the bearing and an oversized one for the seal
how much more complicated is it with a g80? i need to do rear bearings badly
Gotta love linglong tires.
Did you wait the 24 hour period ?
Someone used red loctite on the 8mm bolt on my Chevy and it took two days to remove. Other than that, good vidja
+harry Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
I had a piece of 1" cold rolled steel round stock 9' long that went right through the differential and tapped the bearings and seals out with a five pound sledge hammer without even damaging the bearings or the seals. No problem and regular steel or aluminum round stock would have done the job also. Just make sure the round stock is clean before you stick it into the axle housing.
Same goes for a 2000 chevy S10 blazer 4×4?
+Reggie Sanders The part in this video fits your application, and the install should be the same or similar. Buy this part on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
I hope the shock replacement video was next lol
Are the 8mm bolts occasionally 10mm?
Mine was 10mm on the heavy duty axle
Hi there. I'm trying to order the right size bearings for my 1996 tahoe. Are they 8.5 or 8.6 or what?
i know this is old and you may have found your answer, 8.5 is up to year '99 (but this year is a transitional year and could have either) 2000 and up is the 8.6
Well I thought it would be something I could do at home to save money but nope, don’t have any of these tools
I'm doing this job right now. And the bearings fell out and the race is stuck. Will not come out.
Where can I rent that tool?
autozone has a free rental slide hammer / round one that needs to be threaded so a helper, duck tape and patience are helpful.
this is only one side, how about the other side ?
This is a walk in the park compared to Toyota rear axle seals
So you don’t let the silicone set up for an hour first then torque to specs? And you don’t wait 24hrs until you add oil? I’ll be damn
Bonk 8:00
Impact on a diff pan nice, legendary walmart tech 😂
I will say this you could have just pulled that bearing out and the seal would have came with it someone with less experience will tear up an axle housing trying to chisel the seal out like that
everythings so rusty!
Made no sense to destroy the seal ... it didn't come out by hand so just use the bearing to pull it out (both at the same time) ....
How do you spell expeshilly? 😂
I need boy friend
