With the NBA playoffs approaching, Clippers coach Tyronn Lue takes time to sit down with Fred, Ryan and Channing before the NBA’s post season frenzy.
Enthralled by the journey of a young man who made it out of Mexico, Missouri, Ryan guides the conversation from Coach Lue’s upbringing to his close relationship with his family to the power of sacrifice and finding success through gratitude. Because of that, his responsibility to take care of his family, especially mother and grandmother, fuels his work dedication.
Coach Lue recalls the moment his life was changed when he was drafted to the league and how it became his purpose to take care of his family and continue to evolve as a man through playing in the NBA. Playing with basketball royalty in Kobe and Jordan, Ty never took for granted his opportunities but also learned quickly the value of hard work. Lue explains the infamous Allen Iverson “step over” moment and how he attributes the longevity of his career to that play.
Using his leadership skills from being a teammate and playing with some of the biggest personalities and most skilled in the game, Ty talks about how he got into coaching and who gave him the final nudge pushing him to know that he would be a great fit for the job. From experiences with Kobe, Shaq, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Doc Rivers and many more, Ty Lue shares personal stories that truly highlight his career and the respect he has for them game and the game has for him.
Being known as more than just a coach, Ty Lue is focused on being an example that young black and brown kids can be something special and make it if they work at it. Winning a championship with the Cavs, Coach hopes to duplicate that success in the west with the Clippers and is very confident with his team in the post season.

@@patrickreidy7420 Yea That Duo Is Crazy 😂
Shaq just giving a rookie 20 bands on the strength of being his new teammate and it being a lockout year is real as hell. Salute to Shaq🔥💯
So proud to have had him as long as we did in the City of Angels. The most dominant player to ever play the game. Love you, "big fella".
@@IamCHOSEN23 Agreed. Most dominant ever.
That was an eye opener. I was like dam.
Shaq one of dem ones
Shaq move like Jesus.
“We had different players that can eat but they can’t cook” 😂😂
That was a bar low key 😂
Describing the Cavs after LeBron left: "We had a lot of guys that could eat, but they couldn't cook." Great quote!
It was a perfect quote!! I’m gonna use it! 😂
Dope quote but they really didn’t have a lot of guys who could eat 😆
Ty Lue built different. He has that not good enough grind mentality as a player and coach. You can see he straight comedy when he around his players and people 🔥🔥🔥✊🏾
Randy Moss needs an episode
I agree. The Freak. Ed Reed as well
🙏🏼
Such an authentic interview! The Pivot’s flow with questions and their able to let their guests answer without interruptions is priceless. Much respect for Coach Lue 💯
Same here. I loved him as a player and as a coach.
13:28 Reminds me of Zephaniah 3:19 where God says I will turn your shame into praise/glory. Hearing Lue’s outlook on he handles situations in life, explains why he’s been blessed in every field he’s laid his hands on.
Listened to this entire thing and made me appreciate Ty Lue even more. To love this game as much as he does, due to his gratitude for what the game bestowed unto him and his family is remarkable 🙏🏿🤲🏿
It made me realize that he had one heck of a journey and a great career so far..he’s been blessed, now go have some kids Lue!
If I was a player in the NBA.. I'd love to play for Ty. First time I've actually heard him speak this candid and for this long.
85 South Show and The Pivot would be crazy
That’ll be tough 🔥
Coach Lue talking about AI was legendary 😂
Wow. Coach Lue is an amazing storyteller. His recollection of the many people involved in his story shows how present he was in those moments. Now having the time to look back on it and reflect you can see how cherished they are. Thank you for this episode.
Ty Lue is a real one !! I met him & Chauncey Billups the year Michael Jordan came out of retirement to play for the Washington Wizards. I was promoting LL Cool J's single "Luv U Better" in NYC & when I went to go pick up my check at the club, my friend & I decided to sit in some VIP seats for awhile to take in the atmosphere. Out of nowhere, Ty Lue & Billups walked up to the ropes & asked if they could sit at the table next to us b/c they just wanted to chill & not be bothered. I gave the greenlight & eventually we all had a conversation. It was that convo that Ty Lue told us that Michael Jordan was coming back to play at 40 yrs old for the Wizards. And this was before it was announced. We knew before ESPN & all major news outlets !! Both Lue & Billups were cool af & I'm glad to see both of them are NBA coaches now. Salute & much respect to both of these champions on the court & in life as good people.
much respect to TY LUE... this is so genuine
Ty Lue is a hella of coach and broader than that, hearing him talk about taking care of his family and the value he places on them, says how great of a human being he is and it pays tribute to the ones who raised him, mad respect to coach lue!!!
The Shaq thing messed me up. He is one of a kind. 👏🏽 Another awesome episode fellas.

Great interview. Ty Lue is the authentic truth. What a journey. I would love to see a documentary on him. He is him.🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿.
"What's the difference between Mike and Kobe?"
"None."
Exactly.
Lue is a real dude. He was blessed to get those 2 chips early that way, that wasn't his focus. Now he could get the bread. Knowing your role is key. The fact that he said he knew he was a role player and accepted that is the reason why he made it that long. He has no ego. That's the biggest asset to a good team. No ego
Great interview. Coach Ty Lue is the truth. Another great podcast ❤
Now it’s easy to see why Ty Lue has such a great relationship with all his players. So Humble. Great Interview as always!
I literally used to be over there at Mr. Van Exels house with his son cuz my god father was on the team and played with him at Cincy. Eddie Jone sure was right around the corner same complex. They were such nice people man. Really showed me a lot of love and spit a LOT of game. I was always appreciative to be able to be around such successful guys and I know Mr. Lue probably won’t read this, but I’ll never forget you taking me and lil Nick to get ice cream. Forever grateful
I love the format this show have. Everyone can be themselves
Ty Lue is really cool man! I see why the players these days love him as a Head Coach.

I watched this because I did not know much about Coach Lue. Never heard of him in college. Wondered how he got to the league. New found respect. I'd play for him! Keep doing it Coach!
I was about to say. He didn't get a chance to say nothing crazy . But he got it in at the very end. Man, I love this podcast. Keep getting it done.
Fred a Genius With The Questions !
I love this coach. 😂
Lue had handles like Isaiah Thomas in high school. He was a pretty dominant player in high school & college. Goes to show how good NBA players are.
Raytown!!!
Channing is funny bro. He ask the funniest questions and be so shocked 😂😂😂
People like Coach T. Lue are GEMS... not only has he played with and been around some of the greatest minds that the sport has ever brought us... but he soaked all of it in, carries it with him, and isn't just willing, but DEDICATED to passing it on to everybody that comes after him. That is one of the most admirable traits in a human that will ever exist.
If I had a squad he could coach my team! Ty is a super smart and vey underrated. Great convo!
Great questions and Ty Lue is so interesting! You didn’t shy away from the hard questions about load management or superstars! Really enjoyed this episode
The Pivot is the really really Deal Period.

Why the hell you turn to a clippers fan for that reason?
@@bgod7966 all Kobe related. Don’t want to besmirch the deceased.
Ty Lue is a wonderful man to honor his family. May God continue to bless and keep Him.
No matter what We all knew of him He was everyone’s guy
I am a kings fan so when lakers was playing 76ers, I was rooting for AI and the 76ers.. I remember seeing AI step over Ty Lou.. but now to hear Ty background and his perspective, I have a different view now. I am same age as Ty and I would have never known about Ty growing up in a small town and how grounded he is to play 11 seasons and the success he had and learning from great players and coaches.. so thank you to the pivot.. RC, Freddie, and Channing for your podcast.. keep it up
I’m a Hawks fan n been one for over 20yrs and when Lue was on the team the team wasn’t good yet but they were headed in the right direction with Joe n Josh but I never looked at him as a role player, bruh was really a solid PG n my favorite PG on that team, love that he’s humble as hell like that but give this man his flowers 💯
It's the greatest to see my black peoples just chopping it up like that. Enough respect to my pivot stars and Coach Lue. This podcast is great!!!
His take on Allen Iverson and how it changed his whole career, it was eye opening. Hearing that if they would've played Toronto, he probably wouldn't have played😮😮😮😮
Whole life would be different with the smallest of moments
Wow!!! I am so proud of you!!! You are so humble and amazing!! What an honor, what a story!! Must respect!!
When I’m in the Playoff’s I like my chances - hell yeah !
Shaq is a great human being man
It would be a dream to meet big Shaq!
From being known for getting stepped over by The Answer Allen Iverson to becoming one of the best head coaches of this generation speaks volumes. T. Lue is the truth.
Keep doing what y'all doing guys! Love the authenticity from the different people you interview.. good stuff 🔥💯
This is the best podcast/CZcams set up of 2-3 guys conversating that I’ve ever seen! Not sure how anyone objective could argue otherwise!
“I had a bunch of guy’s that could eat but couldn’t cook.” 😂😂😂😂😂
T Lue is one of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure to meet.
Send'n Faithful Friday Vibes Y'all Way☆♡☆♡

This was one of my favorites.
Real dope interview, much respect for coach ty lue!
Yo, if this episode doesn't make you realize that in life there are trade offs, I don't know what to tell you.🤷♂ T Lue's mother made a trade off when he was a young buck in order for him to pursue the NBA, in return he has made many trade offs in order to be the breadwinner for his immediate and extended family till this day once he signed a NBA contract. The grind is real indeed. Heavy is the head that wears the crown folks.😤 Salute to T Lue Forreal 💪💯
Humble Dude, I remember when Ty Lue was playing for the Wizards, I was a FreshMan in HighSchool at the time, & I remember seeing him walk in an Olive Garden in Bowie, MD, it was packed, a lot of ppl waiting on a Table on a Saturday, he walked in, alone, the host looked at him, then realized who he has, then got him a Table immediately, but if you didn’t know who he was, you wouldn’t know he played in the NBA & was a Millionaire at the time, & he’s really not tall at all!
Thanks coach for 2016...Cleveland Cavaliers championship
Also, at the time he lived in Mitchellville,MD & I remember going to School with ppl that Lived there & they said he had the Ferrari’s & Exotic Cars parked in his Yard……..
This episode gonna be a heater!!
