10. Stone town - Tanzania
Also known as Mji Mkongwe is the old part of Zanzibar. It's one of the earliest coastal trading towns of East Africa which has brought together various elements of the culture of Africa, Arab region, India and Europe.

9.Chinguetti - Mauritania
This is a Berber medieval trading centre in Northern Mauritania. It was founded in the 13th century as the centre of several trans Saharan trade routes.

8.Tsodilo - Botswana
This is one of the highest concentration of rock art in the world with over 4500 paintings preserved in the area found in the Kalahari desert.

Lalibela is one of the holiest towns of the world where S group of eleven monolithic churches stand. They are the biggest monolithic temples in the world and much mystery still surround their construction.

The 12 royal palaces of Abomey spread over an area of 100 acres at the heart of Abomey town in Benin which was formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Dahomey.

4.Fort Jesus Kenya
The Fort, located in the coastal city of Mombasa was built by the Portuguese in 1593.The property covers an area of 2.36 ha and bears physical witness to the interchange of cultural values and influences between the people of African, Arab, Turkish, Persian and European origin.

3.Kunta Kinteh island - Gambia
The site,located along river Gambia, is particularly significant for it's relation to the beginning of slave trade and it's abolition.It also documents early access to the interior of Africa.

1. Dahshur - Egypt
This is a royal Necropolis located in the desert on the west bank of the Nile south of Cairo.It's known for its pyramids, two of which are the oldest in the world.

2nacheki you forgot Somalia which most heritage sites in all cities like Mogadishu ,marka,barawa,laasgeel in near Hargeisa and sayla the capital city of ancient Adam sultanate and Harar which is situated eastern Ethiopia as well although is belong to us before colonial rule were came to Africa.but British gave our land to abbysinia empire (Ethiopia)but yet dispute land. Inshallah .

Where is Ghana Elimina castle and Cape Coast castle
The slave fort named Fort Jesus in Mombasa,Kenya should have been mentioned the Portuguese and the Arabs fort battles in there to decide who would control the slave trade.
Fort Jesus was number 4 so it was included.

I just wish they included some Nubian locations as well. Kush was the great rival and trading partner of Egypt and it played a large role in ancient history. The history of the Sudanese people is in danger thanks to that rat bastard Al-Bashir. There needs to be promotion and tourism now more than ever.

How are there no ancient or medieval Nubian sites on this list? Sudan needs to get more promotion because many of these ancient places are in danger. The kingdom of Kush was one of the great commercial powers of the ancient world and it brought Egypt to its knees. We need to promote knowledge of the Nubian history

Could you please include in your email, database and records, documentris and publications about the Anambra and other Igbo land Erosion flood destruction effects. As written and produced by Prof. Mike Simpson, former head of Geological studies at the Windsor University Toronto Canada that if great care is not taken, the South East of Nigeria will be swept and carried away by flood erosion. The Umuigbonekwu foundation are coming up documentry evidence to that effect. Solutions, support and to proffer ever lasting solutions. Where is "Bonthe island" ? This is the main slavery port in West Africa during the transatlantic slave trade.
This series is disappointing. Not showing enough of the buildings and structures of Africa and u only show the pyramids of Egypt when there are others to be shown! More buildings please! Even in some of the villages there are interesting houses!
