My parents grew up in La Piedad, Michoacán en un ranchito. I’ve heard so many stories from them and the foods they’d eat. Even the hunger they sometimes suffered as children.
Seeing your videos warms my heart and reminds me of recipes my mom would make. The one recipe I didn’t get was mole de rancho I believe it’s called. It’s not sweet or chocolatey. My mom passed away 2 years ago and she tried to teach us how to make it but I couldn’t sit through it. She was already sick and I knew she was dying and her heart wasn’t in it like before. I used to watch her everyday making food and she always had it under control and made foods fast. Tortillas de harina everyday for my dad for work. I’d watch her cook while we talked and talked. Now I remember her recipes from memory and am able to recreate them although not as good as hers. I miss her dearly and miss her food. Getting her phone calls while at work ...vienes cuando salgas de trabajar te tengo tu plato listo. Cooking was such a bonding time for us that it is very hard when I miss her food. Thank you guys for sharing your recipes and for making my heart a little happy with the familiarity of your guys kitchen.

My fiancé (who is from Zamora, Michoacan)and I have been cooking together for the past five years and he always has such a wonderful story to tell while making certain dishes. This evening we started randomly talking about the chilaquiles we made the other day and he was telling me how his mother used to make chilaquiles and how much he loved her way of making it & keeping the tortillas with a crunch...I of course said I was gonna check out CZcams for some authentic old school ways of making it and out of the many profiles I chose your channel and am so happy I did!! I have never tried a torta this way, my mom makes them but so different she does the teleras the same way but puts lime mayonnaise then a layer of refried beans, then carne asada that's been cut in strips, then queso fresco , guacamole, tomato , pickled jalapeños& the top of the bun it's soo good !
