As a kid I remember Chuck Foreman well! As huge Vikings fan every game was like a championship, I marveled his very presence as well as every MINNESOTA VIKINGS PLAYER!!! I adored my motocross bicycle with number #44 in his honor!!!

At a 11 year old child, I thank everyday for Chuck Foreman.
At his peak there was never anyone quite like Chuck Foreman, to this day even. I think it was on a Monday Night in 1976 where Frank Gifford, Howard Costello, and I think maybe still Alex Karras were absolutely raving about Chuck Foreman. He could do things no one ever did.
Chuck Foreman can break ankles that's for sure. Great vision who can find the smallest of holes, then break off a 15 yard run.

Such an underrated player. He was soooo good. But...the the reason I believe he's not and likely won't ever be HoF is because his career was pretty short. His best years were '73-''77. He suffered a knee injury in '78 and was not the same player after that. He has a couple more years like those five, he's in for sure. Those years were spectacular, but still a pretty brief career. Still my all-time favorite Viking. Not even close. Got a chance to talk to him a couple of times several years ago. What a thrill. Go to a Vikings game and there's a good chance you'll bump into him.
No, 78' was the big dropoff...... he had over 1000 yards again in 77'.
@@6400az My error. You are correct. 1978 was the "drop-off" year when he only had 749. I was thinking that was 1977. That was for sure the year the team started to decline as they only went 9-5. But yeah, he did have another pretty solid season that year. It makes his slip in performance even more dramatic. He went from a 1000 yard season in '77 to only starting seven games by '79. I guess you could see the writing on the wall when they drafted Ted Brown #1 in '79. And he was with New England by 1980.

Great video! You can see how Chuck influenced a lot of great backs who came after him. Even Barry Sanders would envy some of those moves. Amazing how fast he was to the line of scrimmage. If ever there was a stat that tracked a ball carrier's yards gained after their first 3 steps, Chuck would probably own that record. More often than not, it seemed Adrian Peterson's first 3 steps usually had him still in the backfield.
He could out-juke everyone.

American football is the best sport ever, yes I said it and I'm sticking to it; even though they've ruined some of the best parts by rule changes🙄😒.
It has everything, strength, grit, muscle, brains, passion, skill and camaraderie; whether you like the team or not you can admire their gamesmanship!
I watched a lot of 🏈 in the 80's and Walter Payton had a similar way of slipping passed blockers into the end zone, just excellence personified!🏈🐐👌🏾🤜🏾

had the hands and body control of a good tight end and was as elusive a back as any that ever played he caught deep passes not the typical RB swing pass and screen passes . There are worse RB's in the HOF and Foreman was doing the Bill Walsh West Coast Offense a decade before the 49rs but losing all four SB s
He was frustrating to watch as a fan of other teams, ball was away from his body and/or in the wrong hand and you would go, okay here we go, fumble. No...oh well, they got him anyway, oh, spin, okay, there go that man again. Plus, he would get to someone and break down for a move and the blocker would come to help and he wouldn't necessarily go to the blockers back and you'd think, what are you doing stupid...and of course he was setting up the next defender, not really worried about the one closest to him. I was hoping he would finally get the Vikes over the hurdle in the Superbowl but the Raiders beat him relentlessly.
