So called friends and family have not talked to me for the last few years.
I can tell you it hurt my feelings when my friend since I was 9 told me he's supportive of trump. I always say friends and politics don't mix so I've always had a rule try to change the subject it's like religion I'm not going to convince no one to change that because I believe a different way. When he realizes what trump is just have an open mind. If he's been a friend that long it will eventually be okay
Ronald Reagan laid the foundation for what we have today. I voted for him back in the day. But since then I’ve learned what a horrible president he actually was. This woman seems very nice, but is definitely naïve when it comes to Republicans.
In 1978 the Democratic Party abandoned Jimmy Carter, because he wouldn't sign pork legislation into law, because we still had inflation as a consequence of losing the Vietnam War.
That is what caused the ruin of our Nation.

I only voted for two Republicans for president and they turned out to be terrible. My only excuse is I was young with a young family, and I didn't know much about them or politics. I'm so sorry I voted for Nixon and Reagon. So sorry. Needless to say I didn't vote for #45 and never will.

Jimmy Carter was a Christian, but non-religious people were willing to support him because he was ethical and compassionate.
During his administration there was a rise of fundamentalism. spearheaded by Jerry Falwell and the "moral majority", which incorporated nationalism, bigotry, greed and hypocrisy.
They drove Jesus from the faith and landed with Trump as their "Savior".
Once they felt that shoving their anti-abortion stance down everyone else's throats...is when they switched roles. I watched it happen so shockingly yet this is what they want.🇺🇸

She talks about the political acrimony between the left and the right in the country. The divide should not be vertical, but rather horizontal, that divide the one that entertains the oligarchs, 1%ers, and Big Corporations on the top, and the people being suppressed economically and socially on the bottom who are being denied any upward mobility at all.
The left-right divide may mostly be imaginary, but it's what the top uses as a distraction to keep that vertical (that is up / down) separation from getting enough attention to be changed.

That aside, a big point here is both sides have, for longer than I'm aware of, been susceptible to bias and open themselves to figures who say just enough of the buzz words and stroke the ego just right that they could get away with horrible things in the name of righteousness. That's not unique to Republicans and we all need to be aware and pay attention to the big picture, as well as be open minded to criticism.

Republicans on the other hand, I'd lose count. My case is anecdotal, obviously, but there's more than enough evidence of a shared attitude out there. Are both party leaderships mostly lip service bought by corporations? Sure. But that's just about where the "both sides" argument ends these days. Remember how Trump went from calling Kim Jong-un "Little Rocket Man" to praising him as a "smart cookie"? Trump got a look at how Kim runs his country and really, really liked it, especially the lifetime presidency. I haven't heard or read any Trump supporters objecting to that. Never heard of this woman & not surprised at all about the reaction to her. I immigrated in 1990 ( loved Civic and listened/studied all types of political/ revolutionary characters ) & thought highly of both Parties . I noticed a change & knew I better ( I was very happy to be a Green Card Holder ) get my Naturalization Certificate. The Republican started drifting further and to the extreme. I could hear it , feel because i use to listen to Conservative radio . I couldn’t believe what these radio host and callers were saying. Obama election spooked & angered them . They became a cult. I don’t like a one party system but that is inevitable as Centrist Republicans are scared if MAGA . This is a bad situation.
