Great demo as always from you sir- as we say in Scotland “Nicewan”. Also my ears cannot help but always hear a very similar jazz deleo when you play- love it. How much time did you guys spend together?
Hey Shawn, I hope you are doing well too! And so the Claro Boost is a Boost, duly noted, thank you! Man, there is always tasty playing on your demos buddy! It both inspires me AND makes me want to give up playing! very odd feeling that!
Hey Shawn. While the pedal sounds great, I’m fairly positive you’d sound fantastic plugged into a toaster. Your consistent unique sound and avoidance of cliches is amazing and the originality of your approach is always inspiring. Thanks for continuing to be a lighthouse for those of us looking for interesting ways to navigate the instrument! Cheers!
Nice vid as always Shawn, an easy & very user friendly pedal. (IMO) my go to is a custom audio electronics Boost/Line Drive , (8 db-20db) a Dean Parks recommendation 😊….I’d buy the LsL if I needed one, has a lovely sweep👍
Love this! I have been struggling with deciding where my boost should go. Before the OD chain? After the OD chain?? People say it only adds volume at the end, but I disagree…… it seems to wake the amp up or something?? Where do u put yours??
Great demo again, Shawn. ❤ Just one question though, at the end, when you set your amp into overdrive mode, how much of that drive comes from the preamp, or is it all just preamp gain? I’m asking because last year I changed my setup into something more portable (I don’t age as elegantly as you do), but both amps (I have two) have only a master control. I love all of my sounds, so I’m perfectly happy. Well… almost. Because when I really need the extra volume of a great booster pedal (I use a DryBell Unit 67), I don’t have enough headroom to do it. It’ll just distort more. I do like the amps to be on the cleaner side of the edge of break up territory, hahaha. The biggest of the two amps is the Morgan AC20. I was thinking about bringing its normal volume down a little to create a bit more headroom, lowering the power level (you know, the built in attenuator) and then use an old RC Booster to emulate that edge of break up sound. How would you do it (when buying another amp is not really an option - yet)? I’m sorry. I wanted to ask a simple question, but I turned it into something way more than just that. 🫣
Hmmm, it's an interesting question indeed. When I switched the amp I was using to "more gain" it was really just preamp gain. There was no power amp breakup happening. In your case with an amp like the Morgan AC20 which is a fabulous amp indeed, you're going to run into issues if you're seeking to boost volume and not necessarily, gain using a boost pedal to the front of the amp. The "power level" control won't necessarily fix the issue. You could still hear or experience some power amp breakup even though you're attenuating. You would, in my opinion, need to have an amp that has more headroom overall if you want to have a "level bump" via a boost pedal as opposed to a "gain bump". I hope I haven't confused you. That AC20 is a killer amp but you will run into headroom issues, within the parameters of what you want to do with a boost pedal, because you can't attenuate via a gain control to the front of the amp. The volume control is straight through to the power amp. That's why that amp sounds great.
I do like the GE-7 to a degree. It always seemed a bit sterile to me overall. I have an XTS-modded GE-7 that has been upgraded with better components. It sounds more open and musical.
@@ShawnTubbsGE-7 is my favorite boost pedal because it's also a tone shaper, that's why i never replace it with another boost pedal. I never felt the need to have it modified because i never play as loud as you do here 😀 if you wanna push the GE-7 all the way up it's best to have it modified or go with another boost like this one here. Other than that it's really unbeatable at what it does.
Great tones. The cleans are beautiful.
Thanks!!
Great your videos, great sound, what you need for the tests! Well done, you're a big one!
Thanks so much!
@@ShawnTubbs 🙏

Thanks! Yeah, it was a favorite into that pedal for me.
Oh man! That intro was KILLER!
Thanks very much! I work pretty hard on this stuff.

@@ShawnTubbs : Thanks so much for taking your time to respond. And your answer is very clear and helpful. I highly appreciate it! ❤️
My goto is Vertex Boost MK11 I run a 2 amp setup with the MK always on into a Fender Vibro
I’ve using the vertex boost for a long time also, but this sounds great!
Vertex builds good stuff! Glad you've got it sorted!
I’m here for the pony tail
You came to the right place my friend!! Haha, thanks for stopping by!
200$ for a clean boost?! God Bless Boss GE-7 and Japan 😀

I’m sure it’s a fine pedal, but $200 USD? Yikes!
