  • A low power run to the top of the mountain to test out Newbee's new 65mm hubs and a handful of other changes. Board is performing as it should.
    Now filming with the Insta360 RS 1".
    I have some big changes coming soon, so sub to the channel and keep an eye out.
    Big thanks to Newbee and Bioboard for the support and high performance parts. Check the out at the links below:

    Your videos are inspiring. I can't imagine what kinda trouble I'd get myself in to if I had a board like that. Just glad to see you wear full gear on these test runs.
    I used to skateboard to town 11 miles one way, on a Walmart kryptonitcs knock off penny board, with old long-board trucks and roller-skate wheels. I would regularly take hills doing 30mph on the sketchy thing. My greatest feat was skating 500+ miles to a beach town and back took 5 and a half days. fastest I've ever taken a hill was around 50 to 55 mph coming down a mountain from North Carolina to Tennessee. Yes on the sketchy plastic Walmart broad.
    Was never about tricks or speed for me, it was about distance.

      @@wiggpickle Still riding a crappy plastic board, with long trucks, tho I use proper long-board wheels now. Would love to get a actual penny 22 board.
      Mostly just use the board for getting to camping and fishing spots, about once a month. I always keep it in my car tho, backup if I break down, cause I love old finicky cars, daily a 93 Geo Metro.
      Would be cool to use a setup like yours, but more off road capable, live in the country so roads have lots of hazards.
      Found your channel while trying to figure out if a electric skateboard is for me. My knee is messed up from to many miles kick pushing, so looking for a alternative to keep me on a board.

    Nice. The Newbee hubs are wiiiddddee.. Looking forward to seeing what you got coming. If you haven't sorted your hip armour yet, try Resurgence Gear. Full range of casual armoured clothing. You're he pinnacle in my opinion. I'm DIY'ng my Lacroix Nazare/Jaws 2.0 into more custom. I've replaced my stock belt drive w/ BN's M1-AT Gear Drive 23/88, 3.95 gear ratio and my stock 6389 190kv maytechs to flip sky's 63100 190kv's, most recently replaced my skp Lacroix bearings w/ a couple of other brand new middle of the road bearings and still can't get rid of the slight rattle/play/vibrations so assuming I need better hubs as my stock mbs rockstar pro 2 hubs may have a little play in them at this point (5000 commuter miles road pretty responsibly) so wondering what your opinions are for best bang for buck hubs available nowadays are?
    I'm leaning towards mbs rockstar pro 2 aluminum hubs regular maybe not the XL's. They seem to really hold shape tighter/longer where my bearings would not have any play. Would have prolly purchased Kaly's hubs $50 bx option but no longer in bizz of course
    Also wondering what you feel are the best tires for comfort, giving me the most solid feel as well. 9" are too big for me but maybe phatty? 200x75 or if they make a 65 or if you like the 7" tire for commuting more? I really like the look of the mbs T1 or T3s but not sure how they are.
    Many say not to spend the money on ceramic bearings for eboards but anything that would contribute to more range for my current 12s 4p until I upgraded battery would help.
    Do you agree speed rings should go on both sides of hyper trucks and locknuts on out side of both bearings would be helpful? As you know Lacroix does not come w/ speed rings so that's why I'm asking.
    Also are there better spacer options made out of titanium or better than stock material Lacroix spacers that might help w/ rattle/play/vibrations?
    Any insight greatly appreciated!
    Be safe out there. Would love to know your current favorite setup in April of 24'.

    Super cool video! I just wonder, since you seem very experienced regarding customized/self built boards; is there any way I can increase range & speed on my exway x1 max riot? is there any battery I can change to? or motors I can upgrade? I love my board but I would love some more speed and especially range :)

    • @wiggpickle
      @wiggpickle  Před rokem

      I'm sure there are available upgrades for it, but I have no experience with Exway boards. You can build an external battery to increase range and keep higher performance for longer. Good luck and ride safe 👍

    • @wiggpickle
      @wiggpickle  Před 2 lety +2

      @@tommynguyen8620 they compare well enough that I use them. The RS tires are probably 15% nicer in terms of build. Mainly, the sidewall strength and the tire profile. If they made an 8", I'd definitely run them. Unfortunately, I find 165mm too small for the type of riding I do.

    • @tommynguyen8620
      @tommynguyen8620 Před 2 lety +1

      @@wiggpickle gotcha, so while the xcell tires provide more mechanical grip, the smaller size isn't suitable for the kind of riding you do? Guess I'll have to try a set of the 200x75s haha.

    • @wiggpickle
      @wiggpickle  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm not sure they provide more grip. I'd have to test it. The increase in diameter translates to an increase in contact patch. Combine that with the stretch of these Newbee hubs.. this combo grips pretty dang well. Looking forward to testing this combo at Apple Valley this year.
