Season 2 Episode 4: Préparation millimétrée / Meticulous preparation

🇫🇷 La Route du Rhum est la course que le skipper du Maxi Edmond de Rothschild souhaite accrocher depuis toujours à son palmarès. C’est cette transatlantique de légende et un marin comme Laurent Bourgnon qui ont inspiré Charles Caudrelier et l’ont poussé vers une carrière de navigateur au large. Pour être prêt à défendre ses chances et rejoindre ainsi le cercle prestigieux des vainqueurs en Guadeloupe, sans oublier la réalisation d’un de ses rêves d’enfant, le marin a mis toutes les chances de son côté et a travaillé sans relâche depuis son arrivée au sein du Gitana Team. Préparation mentale et physique, accompagnement auprès d’athlètes hors normes comme l’apnéiste Arnaud Jerald. On découvre aussi dans cette année de préparation, celle de son remplaçant au cas où Charles se retrouverait dans l’incapacité d’embarquer le jour J ; un processus souvent méconnu et ici incarné par Morgan Lagravière, désigné remplaçant.

It is this legendary transatlantic race and a sailor by the name of Laurent Bourgnon that inspired Charles Caudrelier and prompted him to take up a career as an offshore sailor. To ensure he is ready to post a worthy performance and enter the prestigious winners’ circle in Guadeloupe, as well as realise one of his childhood dreams, the sailor leaves nothing to chance, working tirelessly to achieve his goal from the moment he joins the Gitana Team. The focus is on his mental and physical preparation, with support from an extraordinary athlete, freediver Arnaud Jerald. In this preparation year, we also discover the work undertaken by his replacement should Charles be unable to set sail on the big day, a process often unrecognised and taken on here by Morgan Lagravière, his designated replacement.
