    MusangKingPa...
    Firstly a big thanks to the lovely Sharon at Mr. Chen's Durian Farm for welcoming us & showing us what traditional Sarawak food is like. We had a great time & the food was delicious.
    Today we're visiting Master Chen's Musang King durian farm.
    This is our first time visiting a durian farm & we learned that Musang King is the King of Durians.
    we got to see how a durian farm runs & found out some really interesting things about Durian (the king of fruits).
    We tried some of the durian and we were pleasantly surprised by it. Malaysian Durian is most definitely different to Thailand Durian.
    On the farm they also offer a homestay with breakfast for a minimum of 10 people.
    The Durian farm is located in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia & it is well worth a visit (even if you don't like Durian).
    Musang king is the best durian in the world (in our opinion).
    Thanks for watching!

    Hi guys
    I was born in battombong in 1970 . I tried durian when I was a kid.
    Now I know I will try it again ripe fresh from the tree. Since you guys can eat it I should be able to eat it as well.
    Enjoyed your video thanks. Great job trying different foods. You guys are cool.

    17:12 You guys are so lucky to have a home cook Sarawak meal! Makes my mouth water looking at those dishes! That fish with the sour eggplant is delicious. It's a typical Sarawak way of cooking the sour eggplant and fish. It's not merely a Chinese dish or a Chinese fusion. It's just how Sarawakians pair the sour eggplant.

    Cambodian Durian is much creamier and sweeter than Thai Durian. The texture is smooth and cream cheese sweet.

    Funny just ate Durian now . Im in Melbourne $39 for 2 pieces , fresh from Thai . By plane to Thai grocer in Melb . Me & Wife like to eat it a little firm / crispy , not soft . But yeah 100% like onion a little bit 😅

    • @francandsarah
      @francandsarah  Před měsícem

      Sheeesh! $39 for 2 pieces!? That's an expensive bit of fruit. I'd say that slightly colder and firm does taste better to us, and that onion taste is very odd and unexpected when biting into a piece 😂

    Those durian are gold bars on trees. I know 1 durian farmer, a full load pickup truck is around RM30k. That was few years back. The value should be more now. Some people got turn off because of the bad handling of the durian. Best ones is fresh from the tree still in the skin. The smell come from fermentation.

    • @francandsarah
      @francandsarah  Před měsícem +2

      Thank you, super interesting… it is so expensive but really tasty. A lot of hard work goes into farming it & we understand why it costs so much now 😂😊

      @@francandsarah it is also have some fancy tech in its supply chain now. There are farms that sell oversea like China as a premium fruit. So lots of tractability system to ensure authentic. Just like buying a expensive handbag.

    They said Malaysia produce highest grade of durian in the world. Usually Musang King (second priciest type of durian) known for its thin pit/seed + strike yellow color + ‘trace’ of 5 pointed star at bottom. But the priciest type of durian is Black Thorn, they said it has super strong taste & alcoholic hint…

    • @francandsarah
      @francandsarah  Před měsícem

      They were growing Musang King & Black Thorn, it was really cool to learn how it grows, very interesting & we had no idea there were so many different types of durian.
      I think the one we tried was a Musang King.
      Very delicious & thank you for your comment 🙌🏽

    Durian, is it or is it not worth the experience for the westerners. I guess, going to a durian farm is a wonderful experience.

    • @Yasin_Affandi
      @Yasin_Affandi Před měsícem +2

      For those westerners who wants to know what's the taste of durian is like, you can try a RM1 popsicle from a grocery. If it's likeable, then you can go ahead with the fresh durian, durian dessert, durian cake, durian coffee, durian chocolate, durian fudge, durian candy, durian cendol, durian ABC etc. One of my favorites is pulut durian, sticky rice with durian that is cooked with coconut milk and palm sugar.

    • @francandsarah
      @francandsarah  Před měsícem +2

      Durian in Malaysia is very good, we enjoyed it a lot. I can understand why some westerners don’t like it but the longer we’re in Asia then more we like it (especially Sarah) haha.
