Sir, that's nothing against you, but you are wrong. It has nothing to do with the foundation of the school or what Otake-sensei wrote in his books (besides, you should try to read other books on shinto ryu which might give you a broader understanding of the complexity of the school).
What is important is what Soke says. And from this position it's clear: What Sugino-sensei does is officially Katori Shinto ryu, authorized by Iizasa Soke. If you doubt me, ask Soke.

Says who? What is your qualification to judge wether or not this is Katori Shinto ryu? Are you a member of that school? Do you speak Japanese? Do you live in Japan?
State your position or refrain from telling stories you read on the net. Thank you.

Good. So I suppose you're living in Japan.
You might want to ask the person sitting in the centre of this photo for his opinion on Sugino-sensei. You know him, right?

sir this is not personal to you or Sugino, well it's my opinion on the historical data of Katori Shinto ryu foundation, you can be documented in the books of katori shinto ryu where it let you know the root of the school, the of the book is Katori Shinto Ryu warrior tradition by Risuke Otake 香取神道リュウ

Its different from Otake's. Somehow slower, and I feel no battle spirit into it... It is like Iai just for show.

So, you actually practiced with them "hands on"? You are basically jugding them based on an enbu video, with no insight into their actual practice.

+Cronsen Is the actual practice very different from what is displayed in this video?

Yes, it is. This is purely for demonstration purpose. Nothing particular special.

In Sugino dojo when practicing, it is faster, but that is not the key thing - most importantly you are always trying to win over the opponent in each move, react at correct moments and make the techniques so that the opponent is forced to react in the way he does in the kata.
I have no experience with Otake teachings, so I cannot compare. :-)

Leonardus Carol You are correct, it‘s Sugino sensei‘s group, although the term „sugino-ha“ is not correct (same for otake-ha).

      Good evening !
You studied with Yoshio's second son am I right ?
I would like to know what is the atmosphere during a lesson.
As a fellow student and "teacher" (I have no better word since English is not my main language) I am interested in the teaching ways you experienced over there.

miguel ochoa Otake and Sugino schools are both Katori shinto ryu. Even Otake sensei or somebody else(you for example) just cant say that Sugino school isnt true Katori Shinto Ryu. When Otake Risuke just has started studying Katori shinto ryu in 1942 Sugino Yoshio already was master of it (even wrote a book in 1941) and had his own dojo authorized by Iizasa Kinjiro(dad of todays soke).
