I don’t think it’s a secret that Serj’s voice has been dwindling over the years, but he actually did really great in this.
Though it doesn't compare to his voice originally, I still think it sounds great. It just seems the songs that require tons of yelling (most) lack in what they did. People that say it sucks are simply lying to themselves Though
Yeah, he changed up his singing technique in 2003 because of years of smoking and screaming.
@@tozmcgoz8405 Yea, he still absolutely excels when it comes to the quieter bits. And fuck, no one can sing like he did forever.
But on the other hand I'm sure it contributes to the reluctance of SOAD to truly reform. They all seem interested, but they are all 25 years older than when they started the band and aging takes a toll on your ability to perform, especially sing. Perhaps they are afraid another album wouldn't have the same technical skill as their past stuff, I would rather have no more SOAD albums instead of an underwhelming one.
@ibs_haver Yeah same here. Every single one they've released is amazing in my eyes. If they're not up to it, they shouldn't force out a wet fart like some great bands have and still do.
One of the most innovative sounding bands around. The world needs SOAD & Rage against the machine today. Honestly a majority of folks weren't truly listening to the words man because look at where the fuck we're at!!!! 😞

I think that they mean irl the sound is so much better, and the new proshot recordings crop too much of the guitar sound as opposed to older ones, or being there in person.
Old rock converts always sound better! I don’t think they use good recording equipment now

See like as of recently whenever they play a song that's lyrically mostly or entirely Serj (mostly everything from their first album to Steal) Serj sings fucking fantastic for a man in his 40s, but when they do songs from mez/hyp serj seems so emotionally detached, and i can't blame him, Daron is not a good lyricist
Rope Kittens dude ur so right I just realized. Even when u look back at concerts from 2004-2007 you see that when he sings songs from Mesmerize and Hypnotize as well. And was I the only one that found it annoying that on songs that Serj sings Daron joins in sometimes? Even though I’m the studio version it’s only Serj?
