- Hi, friends.
In this video we head out from the farm to the shop, to hang out with our friends Micheal, and Tom for a while, so I don't go stir-crazy during the down time of the winter.
The roads start out ok, however I quickly find out they are worse than I thought they were, as we head out of town. With the truck overloaded and the tires bad it takes a lot of concentration and most of my skills to make it to the highway. Ones we get to the shop the guys line me up with the lay of the land, and we bs for a while as we think about projects to come.
I'm really looking forward to the adventures we're going to have hanging out at the shop and chilling with friends, I hope y'all guys have fun, and are looking forward to the next adventures, friends.

Matt, I'd watch you do anything- clean your ears, dust the sliding door track, polish your shoes, draw, cut wood- whatever as long as you keep talking to us with that positive uplifting attitude! Love this video. Your anxiety over the simple things makes you human. Don't panic Matt. These things are easily overcome. Maybe enjoy some music when you feel overwhelmed and remember that you are capable to conquer anything. Things to work on as you grow and change 😊
I feel ya. I drove home at 11:30 pm in a blizzard for 20 miles on a country rd in a Volkswagens Bug . You couldn't see past my head lights. Felt like I was in a bubble. So stressful
Matt you don't need 4 wheel drive when on ice, just use it for snow only 😊

Matt,I wish you would put the camera on something and put both hands on the wheel in the ice and snow. You would be more in control of your vehicle then. Try to find a way to do that when you’re traveling so you won’t have to hold the phone in your hand. But you’re driving on that ice. And good luck to you. And have fun with your friends.

Perfect example how having money can reduce stress…you could have a nice, new truck, AWD, full tanks of fuel, plenty of insurance and “cushion” if anything “catastrophic” were to happen…and not even need to make the dangerous trip in the first place to try and make some extra money to “get ahead” a little. It’s stressful being poor! But it requires faith and promotes humility…both very valuable traits!❤. Never give up, never surrender…hoorah!!
Hey Matt…if you are nervous about driving downhill when it’s slick, put your truck in neutral. At least the motor won’t be pulling you.

At time of leaving Matt says it’s 32 degrees out and just rain overnight traction looks good. Got $30-$40 in fuel, enough to move around. Fuel looking good again as well as good traction at this point. Now too MUCH weight, slow down now to save gas. Too much weight now slow down , bad tires have to slow down, not too slow though not enough time to slow down. All With Quentin Tarantino B rated Pulp Fiction sound effects including wiper blades scraping against a dry windshield. Please don’t talk to the truck anymore Matt.

I was shocked that you were so insecure driving to the shop since you did live in Alaska and I know you have experience driving on bad rds.

That’s my biggest fear these mountains and snow covered roads I go to the top of the hill and I stop and then I just ride that break at about 5 miles an hour all the way down you’re not supposed to hit the brakes but when you’re going that slow it seems to be OKyou are flying that shit would scare the hell out of me

Cool to see the old Reman and Reload...and hear the train horn in Oroville. I used to weigh hay trucks in there and the train used to come by my place once a week north of Ellisford....I miss it over there.. a much simpler place than the west side.

When you're in four-wheel drive, drive slower, take your time its safer that way. You will get use to it.
And go much much slower in the ice areas and don't slam on your brakes ease into the brakes.
You look like your going to fast, just take your time be safe.
Having weight in your truck is better for traction. You only have your personal things in the truck right.
23 miles from Loomis to Orville. Nice roads, heavy weight is better than no weight. Great job in driving that icy road.

Im a bit of a crazy as most would call me, but I love driving in bad condition s cuz I love to drive consider myself a good well n aware driver, you gotta feel the car, n driving in the snow is some of favorite time to drive, its like a challenge to me, like a game, even though being a good well aware driver knows its not a game

Hi Matt, great video thankyou. Old Max want let you down. Have you tried double declutching. My late hubby had an old Holden (Chevy, sort of) and you had to double declutch when changing down from 2nd to 1st. It worked well. Keep looking after self. You are powering. Nice kitty cat. I love cats. 👋
