  • In this video, I'm sharing a day in the life of a software developer in Dallas, Texas, who works from home. I show you everything, from my standup and sprint planning to how I code in the afternoon.
    This video is a realistic look at what it's like to work from home as a self-taught developer. In this video, you'll see how I balance work, family, and recreation to have a balanced day in the life.

    what youre not having breaktfast for 2 hours, playing soccer, working out, then having lunch, going for a walk in the park, going to sauna afterwards, then attend a meeting, and finish off with a nice dinner and calling it a work day? im not gonna be a software engineer :(

    I feel the meetings.
    I sometimes have days where I can get 30 minutes of work in, the rest is meetings 😴
    But aye, that’s finally a more real day in the life.
    Tired of all the „devluencers“ that spend 20 minutes of work and chill the rest of the day
    I get that it makes a video more realistic, but then they call it „a real day“ nah fam, you’d be fired if that was a real day.
    Thanks for keeping it real!

      Thanks for watching! We use React for frontend, node.js for backend, and PostgreSQL for our database. We do have a couple projects that use Go and CouchDB, but we don't use those often. My OS is Linux.

      Thanks for watching! I'm glad you're getting some motivation from my video. Honestly, the best advice I have is to practice coding everyday to build up that muscle memory and creating your own projects. Running into issues in my projects and having to learn how to solve those problems, helped me learn so much about software development.

      Thanks for watching! I started learning by doing tutorials on Udemy and going through some books as well. After that, just started building my own projects and this is when I learned the most.

    So is this the difference between a software developer and a software engineer. Seen a couple of videos of the day in life of a software engineer and all they show is themselves fooling around for hours. eating, taking naps, as well as doing other none productive things. I get needing breaks and all but men some of them look like their work is taking breaks.
    Anyways is nice to see a video where actual work gets done.

      @walkerschrumpf  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching! I have seen videos like that as well. Not sure if it's just big tech or what, but I work at a smaller company where we only have 4 developers. So a lot of work to go around.

  • @ZacharyBishopZyncster

    Do you have to look up a lot of commands?

    • @walkerschrumpf
      @walkerschrumpf  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching! I do have to look up commands sometimes with Git and Linux, but it's not too often.
