The fact the editor found a perfect Star Wars clip for almost every line of dialogue here must have taken so long and crazy in depth knowledge of the movies. Insane
The two more left bit, sheeesh, perfecto
It actually amazes me sometimes how perfect the clips they use are
I admit I spent way too long putting those clips in but I’m glad it paid off. Thanks!
@JORGE LIMAS EditorS even! I did this one but there’s a few of us who kinda alternate, and the other fellas are all great.
@@ReservoirDolphin I guess you have to study each other to get the editing style similar enough
"She died of a broken heart" says the droid.
Somehow, this is the most succinct and brutal takedown of all of the Star Wars franchise I've ever seen. 10/10
Until you realize that Carrie Fischer’s mom actually died of heartbreak
@Cio Lake The droid said "for reasons we can't explain, we're losing her", there's nothing about a broken heart in there. There's also the case of Palpatine very likely draining her life force to resurrect Vader.
In Amidala's case I'm imagine it was blood loss during the childbirth of twins and a wildly stupid misdiagnosis by the midwife droid.
@Jon Hesson Very well said, Being happy is known to help the immune system and so much of your body from a purely chemical point of view. thus being depressed reduces your life expectancy, but Grief is 1 step more, to go from bliss to a deep depression can just cause your body to completely shut down
@Jon Hesson exactly. I've stuffered from clinical depression for years and I can tell you, you have ups and you have downs that last weeks or months. When you've had months of being relatively happy and you go to rock bottom it crushes you, completely. But grief is twice the fall.
How can you not immediately think of Solo when you read "so dark, can't see". That describes Solo perfectly.
I’m able to not immediately think of it by having not watched the movie
The movie actually had some good stuff in it, too bad most people just couldn't see it.
Or they were having a stroke and didn't realise it
I'm not gonna lie, when I think of "Star Wars movie", I don't think of "Solo".
Easy, all you need to do is forget that movie even existed.
That laugh from James when Maso brings up Joker is truly a Joker moment
"But what if it's Joker." Guys, I can't laugh out loud, there's a baby I'm trying to keep asleep.
It's funny cos one of the reviews was so obviously Solo, but he also clearly completely forgot it existed haha
It is a forgettable cashgrab movie like many recent movies.
The first 30 minutes of RotJ on old VHS was a dark watch in the 90s before it got remastered.
I saw Solo in a pitch-black theater and I still couldn't see what was happening in that slug-lady scene.
I read this comment before watching the video and by the time that review came up, I had already forgotten this movie existed.
I had the exact same problem, I guessed Episode 2 because the releases post 2011 have this awful dark-green tint applied to the movie (the DVD/theatrical version looks much better).
"A guy who hates Star Wars because he loves Star Wars" That perfectly sums up modern day fans now.
I'm pretty sure that's what fans are in general not just modern, how can you be a fan of something if you're not invested in it?
@@hideofreakingkojima5457 Pretty simple, it just means not liking all of the shit that has Star Wars in its name, like the sequels.
"Damn Star Wars fans! They ruined Star Wars!"
-Groundskeeper Willie
No one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans.
@@hideofreakingkojima5457 Being a fan of the series doesn't mean to love and get invested in every new part of it. The people who say you have to like the sequels to be a Star Wars fan are the same tools that Disney exploits from them going to the theater for anything even remotely connected to Star Wars.
You guys should do the reverse. Mason reads the review and James tries to guess the movie. Then Mason could get his revenge.
or, mason names a movie, and james tries to guess which review he is answering
That would require Maso to do some actual preparation! So, not going to happen.
@@ThreadBomb
James could prepare it for him. And then forget. And they can call it THE REVENGE OF THE MASEAU.
How do you people not see it?
The Joker Episode
But it's reviews of any cinematic (animated or real) property that has some iteration of the joker.
12:35 Well done Matt. The effort you put in these does not go unnoticed.
Thanks!
@@ReservoirDolphin the editing adds so much to their discussion, has me dying laughing
Tally them up and showing Tally the character was inspired
I was gonna say, someone went full star wars pulling that particular scene just for a “two”. Most impressive.
I appreciate that they always mention the Adelaide foot court whenever George Lucas comes up
Was Quentin tarantino with him at the time
A man can’t eat food by himself? I don’t see the problem.
*RADelaide. why didnt Lucas come and do that here in Melb.
It's basically the most interesting thing that's ever happened here.
I would have guessed The Last Jedi for
"It's just people running away"
No Joker review? Mr Scumbag Movies is losing his edge.
He doesn't need to add them any more. Mason is Joker reviewing himself.
but the makers of caravan of garbage finally put in a caravan of garbage review. so that's nice.
I sincerely hope this is actually a discussion on whatever the name of the second Twilight movie is
New Moon
@@rorycunningham2316 much obliged
Don't encourage them
@@saberfightguys Encourage away!
I thought it was Eclipse.
"With this romantic dialogue no wonder George Lucas' wife divorced him" that one left me on the floor laughing
Prequel III: Whichever One That Is is my favourite Star Wars movie.
I love how much personality comes through from the editors. It makes me happy whenever it cuts to either Matt or Ben.
The wife and I tried watching one of those Ewok movies on Disney+. The first forty-five minutes of the movie was a five-year-old girl coughing and repeatedly saying, "I don't feel good." It's hard to imagine that something like this was ever shown in theaters but I forget that, in the 70's, everybody was stoned out of their minds. Literally everybody. Kind of like now.
But of course, that is because they weren't shown in theaters at all! Those are 1980s TV movies, and if you think back to the quality of 1980s TV movies...well, it explains a lot. Pretty much everything, in fact!
Just like how the Star Wars Holiday Special is utterly mystifying...until we catch on that it is a made-for-tv variety special in Star Wars trappings. That's a wonderful mixture of formerly popular media that was already fast going out of style with 1970s drugs for a whale of a...something.
It is still good
None of them were Joker or High School Musical 2 and I'm not sure whether or not to feel impressed by James' progress or robbed of the good joke.
Seriously though. Great video.
Caravan of Fucking Ewoks is in a category all its own, though.
This video is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one

2:40 The Last Jedi was literally them running away from the first order. That was like the main plot.
Empire is them running from the empire, too.
*Mark Hamill’s scars were pretty much all gone by the time of filming empire, so much so that barely any makeup was needed to cover it all up. It’s not the scars they had to explain, it was the fact that he had reconstructive surgery, and being the 70’s they weren’t able to make him look like he did before*
I agree. That review was just harsh for no reason. Poor guy didn’t deserve that.
He really didn't look much different to me.
@@jamiekelly6851 His nose is crooked now and he lost his tan but other than that yeah he mostly looked the ssme

That last review was excellent, and nobody commented that it was by Branson Reese, who made Swan Boy and worked on We Bear Bears. Then again, it could be somebody else using his name, but it does seem like his particular brand of humour.
nah that's him alright
Not to mention Rude Tales of Magic! The best g-dang D&D podcast around
James 100% had a Joker movie review in his list but soon as Nick mentions it, he takes it off and realizes it’ll be more fun to have him guess from now on whether there will or there won’t be kne
Excellent editing with hilariously relevant clips for what they're saying.
Thanks!
“Spiritually corrupt” I love how James is surprised and finds it funny that Maso suggested what if it’s Joker 😂🤣 so used to James’s shit that I don’t blame him 😂 maybe one is high school musical 🤷🏽♂️
“Who’s responsible for lighting this movie?”
Instantly knew it was solo just from that lol
Idk why, but this is one of the best series. Please never stop. I’m hoping Mason hating them is just a bit.
"What if it's Joker?"
Thanks Maso, my hot chips just went up my nose and now I need surgery.
Outstanding edit, Matt! So many clever references that I'm sure I didn't catch them all.
Thanks!
You know that one person reviewing empire has no business talking about Star Wars when they spelled “Leia” “Leah”
Yep, that review has politics written all over it
Also, "Dark Vader" and "the Chewie"! Not to mention "get the fuck OUT away from Leah".
there's no way he isnt a troll with so many things being misspelled
reading that gave me physical pain
PERSONALLY, i think that the lads should do "Guess that anime" from very clear reviews and James has to get 100% right to be knighted the anime master
I spit my drink at the Tallie Lintra joke! XD
Glad a couple people got it!
Underrated character
11:55 I can’t tell if it’s on purpose but Matt if you actually synced James making that noise with jar jar hurting his foot I applaud you
I don't think all Padawans are required to sport the rat tail. I think Obi-wan had his then told Anakin it was required as a joke.
Also many jedi dont even have hair because they are aliens.
12:43 "And I whittled this down. I have so many more."
Sooooooo, part 2 then?
Also astonished that there was no Joker, Dear Evan Hansen, or any similar reviews in this, and yet Maso still guessed and anticipated it. James truly has broken his spirit.
i never get tired of seeing james in the joker makeup.
"spiritually corrupt, BUT also flat and artless" "sounds like JJ Abrams to me" I genuinely burst out laughing
What a perfect summation of that entire man’s career of destroying once respected franchises
The most incorrect thing ever
@@orbaitv5991 do you like zack snyder movies too?
The second review I assumed would be last Jedi because the whole plot is the slowest spaceship Chace trying to escape the first order

Imagine being one of those guys that call themselves "Star Wars Fans" while simultaneously hating 70% of the cinematic releases.

I stopped trying after review one because I remembered I know nothing about Star Wars beyond the original trilogy
Matt, give yourself a hand for the homage/ripoff montage at 6:46 , I only knew about half of those visual lifts already, so great stuff 👍
Thanks! I actually had those all made already, because I have a big ongoing twitter thread of a ton of movies that have inspired the whole franchise.
A great premise for a review episode is "Joker or High School Musical 2?" that way Mason will expect all of them to be tricks and it ends up being just reviews of Joker or High School Musical 2
The Last Jedi is the best star wars movie ever, and it isn't even close
"The end of cinema"
"The Last Jedi?"
I wheezed
James and Maso have much more fun and natural laughter after that long break that they took. Their first podcast episode back was genuinely making me laugh so hard, and it was just the moments when they were being stupid and making dumb jokes! Take more breaks!! Don’t force the humor lol
10:04 the difference on the way they handle George Lucas divorce, James being serious and Nick making jokes.
Is that the difference between someone who is married and a bachelor? 🤔
Usually these reviews are complete non sense but a lot of these actually made sense. The one about turning to the dark side because of a rat tail made me laugh out loud

In total, I got 11/18
For the 2nd last one (talking of the Ewoks), I was going to say Return of the Jedi… until I remembered there weren’t any Ewoks in the poster (as far as I can remember).
Nothing cheers me up as much as these guys, between the commentary and the editing it is absolute gold.
As a citizen of adelaide I Cherish every mention of George Lucas sitting in our food court.
I noticed when he said tally them up, the pilot Tallie Lintra popped up. Appreciate it
Since we're using the honor system, I got all of them right.
The blue score reminds me of the stats you get after a level in Lego Star Wars. Would love it if that was inspired by that.
I got 14. There was a few where I was 50/50 between two movies but was leaning more the wrong way, or just couldn't make up my mind, so I didn't give myself a point for those.
I appreciate the shot of Tallie as James says 'tally them up." Underrated character for no other reason than she's a cool female A-wing pilot, can't believe they killed her off.
My number is 2...as in 2 times I was sure it was a review for "Joker".
I always watch these videos till the end to hear Mason say "Grab that gem"; in this video he didn't.
Love the content and the editing 👍 Good job guys!
You've got to do this for all of the Star Trek movies!
did James just say lightsabers don't emit heat? literally all we see them do is burn through things and look pretty
It’s sort of complicated because they are technically super hot but it’s so focused in the beam that they don’t really emit it outwardly. That’s why people can hold it real close to their face and it doesn’t melt their flesh.
They only generate heat with the things they come into contact with. They dont radiate heat
I like the bit where the soldiers that have just dug an extensive trench system in a huge salt bed wait around in their salt trenches until they are being attacked to taste the salt and realise that the salty salt is salt.
I love the Cat Empire. I saw them at Bonnaroo 2006, the next year I got arrested and the song that was playing when I was pulled over was "The Chariot"
Hahahaha brilliant! 😂
"Now that's a guy that hates Star Wars because he loves Star Wars so much...that he hates ALL the Star Wars!"
"Well that's what happens, you watch too many Star Wars it comes back on ya...its like reflux"
Funny how The Mandalorian and TCW season 7 have much higher ratings than the sequels on IMDb.
Just like BoBF Chapter 6 has a user rating of 9.6/10, while TLJ is 6.9 and TROS 6.5
I think people just dislike shit Star Wars. When TLJ came out - the dumbass narrative was that anyone who disliked both TFA and TLJ was impossible to please and hates everything. And then Mandalorian overshadowed the sequels.
@@Ruylopez778 the concept of “no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans” predates the sequels though, seems to be more of a play on that
@@SaulGMV The media hated the prequels. And the media defended the sequels (well the first two) and blamed fans for not liking them - and then blamed IX on the backlash to VIII.
The prequels all had an A- Cinemascore. AOTC opened bigger than TPM. ROTS opened bigger than AOTC. ROTS made over 80% of TPM, slightly better than the OT (if you discount the re-releases of ANH and ESB, ROTJ made ~80% of ANH
TPM was the biggest movie of the year. ROTS was a very close second to Potter.
@@Ruylopez778 i’m not saying anything you spout is right or wrong, just saying that “no one hates sw more than sw fans” has been a saying way before the sequels were even a thing m8
@@SaulGMV And I'm saying it's a constructed narrative and not a reality - and it's used by the media to belittle criticism of the sequels now or anything in the Disney era, and I've given you solid facts about the money the prequels made and their audience score at time of release - which supports what I'm saying.
You're perpetuating a myth, and acting like it's a known fact. It's used to downplay the backlash to boring characters and lazy stories.
The Mandalorian and BoBF on IMDb simply don't follow this narrative.
Of course, RedLetterMedia has poisoned the minds of many, but people forget in the 90s and early 2000s it was considered clever to think of SW as passé. But that doesn't come from the fandom.
No more so than any fandom has things they agree or disagree about, like/dislike.
If the guy hates ESB because everyone is running away. His head will probably burn and explode if he sees TLJ
Also 8/18
Not a great score.
The Last Jedi is what I immediately thought of for everybody running away. I did consider Empire too, but didn't give myself a point because I leaned more towards TLJ.
I once knew somebody who maintained that Empire was the worst of the OT cos it's just people running away for two hours.
We're no longer friends.
