    Hi everyone....
In this tutorial we will be discussing as to how the axial forces in any member of a given truss can be calculated.
The method adopted is Method of Section.
If you have seen my previous lectures on method of joints then you must have realised that this method proved very effective especially when we are supposed to find the axial forces in almost all the members. But hey, you cannot deny the fact that method of joints is a bit tedious. Now suppose you have been asked to find the axial force in any particular member of a truss, then method of section really helps.....
Watch the video entirely to have a firm grasp on the method application.
Problem Description: Find the axial force in the member DE of the truss using the method of sections.

Sir one doubt why not we are considering tensile forces along the members AD, CE and CB. And while considering point A we are taking forces opposite to the section means point B, hence if tensile forces in CB is considered then there will be one more force acting at B. He does that when he is beginning to solve then he sum all forces in the x and y direction equal to zero. Then he take moments about say A and equate it to zero. I haven't had the chance of asking him about that by comparing your method to his. Is your method applicable and won't that change my answer?

Not understood.. considered moment at point B, but focused section is left-hand side one..
If focused section is LHS One ,then we have to take moment about A or D?? Clarify my doubt
