Hi everyone....
In this tutorial we will be discussing as to how the axial forces in any member of a given truss can be calculated.
The method adopted is Method of Section.
If you have seen my previous lectures on method of joints then you must have realised that this method proved very effective especially when we are supposed to find the axial forces in almost all the members. But hey, you cannot deny the fact that method of joints is a bit tedious. Now suppose you have been asked to find the axial force in any particular member of a truss, then method of section really helps.....
Watch the video entirely to have a firm grasp on the method application.
Problem Description: Find the axial force in the member DE of the truss using the method of sections.

This is very useful for students thanks for your detailed explanation ❤️❤️👍👍 keep going
Sir...why did,t you consider the force Fad on the left side of the Truss?
And is it compulsory that we have to solve w.r.t left side of the Truss?
Can we solve it w.r.t right side of the Truss?
i am also having the same doubt about force Fad
Your truss problems helped me to understand easily
An excellent explaination(how to select the joint is the best tip) thank u sir

Thank you sir you just helped me score a good grade keep the good work on🎉
Thank you for your effort to teach us
sir, at point A it is pin joint . so instead of Ra , Ha and Va need to act right ??
Thanks a lot sir,it was so helpful
Sir one doubt why not we are considering tensile forces along the members AD, CE and CB. And while considering point A we are taking forces opposite to the section means point B, hence if tensile forces in CB is considered then there will be one more force acting at B. Sir please clear the doubt
Yes , same doubt ,
Please clarify
Really helpful.
& I am subsscribed !! Nice work.. Keep updates
Thank you sir... For clarifying my doupt...

Excellent explanation sir ...
Sir,
Why we didn't consider the external forces 4kn and Rc acting at point E and C respectively, could you please explain
Thanks it's really nice and educative
bro when we take moment about any point on rigth side .which side forces should be considered ?can we take right side forces also
sir, I'm a big fan of you sir....
and to your lectures...
sir plz do some lecture videos on centroid, centre of gravity, moment of inertia problems
Hi Chandu....
It may take some time, but by DEC i will do that.....
Wow...!! A6a laga...!!
Sir why haven't we made a force F(DA) , F(BE) , F(BC) AND F(AC) in this problem.???
Good explanation sir thankyou!!👍
you really helped me sir
sir will you explain me what is the difference between method of joints and method of section ,for what type of structures we have to consider method of joints and method of sections
its just wow...sir I feel myself proud to watch urs tutorials...u deal each n evrthng much simply...thats the quality u have which i do not see somewhere else...thank u sir g

At a time can I consider either left of section for equations or right of sections??
Sir can u clarify how can take whether it is clock wise moment or Anti clock wise moment
While we calculating moment at A , we place thumb at A in which direction little finger should move
Please reply sir
Thank you sir❤🎉
sir if we are taking moment about any joint on the right side then we should take forces only on the left side sir?
Thanks a lot sir for this types of video
You are welcome..
All the best
Sir pls do tell is there any trick when to find moment and when to find out force in x ,y direction at a pt
Super explanation sir....thank u very much
Thank u hemant
All the best
Hloo sir
It's very useful
Thanks for making this kind of videos
Thanks Prakash for appreciating
And all the best
Keep it up Sir ji
Sir do we have to take only sigma about x axis nd y axis and moments only for the section of one side
Thank you sir for your video. But one question, respected sir I am confusing why we don't take the moment due to force AB at joint E
sir, what did you meant by saying considering a section on L.H.S and taking a convenient point on RHS....i'm ok with choosing a convenient point but how comes the consideration like LHS and RHS..
Your great sir
beautiful explanation, sir.. I'll make sure that I recommend it to all my friends :)
What's up , did you successfully become an engineer
video is awesome😍😍
Sir , how u have taken DE in x component of force
Great sir
Sir why we not considered hinge force in the x-direction at point A
If we had applied F(DE) leftwards it would come +ve then we would say it tensile! So how we'll explain that? Pls clear the doubt
Thank you sir for the explanations,it was becoming a headache to solve a problem
You're welcome Benson and all the very best man
Sir due to angle EAB reaction will produce F(ab)Sin60 degree then that won't be mentioned in €Fy=0
Tq so much sir.. ☺
why we did not consider hinge reaction at A?
Thank you so much sir
Sir is there any chance to take the section towards center of two triangles
Sir i tried summation moment about point A and tried to find out F(db) force by putting the rest of the values of member DE , force 2KN. But the value has come different.
Sir can you please write the equation about point A?
U R the best 😊👍
Thanks Basheer.....

Thank u sooo much sir
While taking moments about B,why the force in the member AD is not considered ?
To find the force in member DE..why not considering the tensile force in member AD..please clarify
thank you sir," your lecture are very helpful" . sir its a request to do lecture on centroid and centre of gravity
Sure Saleel, i am infact planning and researching on making content on centroid..
Dont worry it will be uploaded soon...
can i get the forces at members by concurrent force system ?
👌👌 explanation
Sir at A it is an hinge support what about horizontal reaction force
horizontal reaction force=0.(so,Not considered).
in these truss all the external forces are vertical hence all the support reactions will be also vertical therefore no horizontal reaction at A
There is no external force acting in x direction so horizontal force will be zero
sir why we are not considering the Fad while calculating moment along B?
What my teacher does is he introduces two reactions at the supports in the x and y direction. Does it have affect generally ?
He does that when he is beginning to solve then he sum all forces in the x and y direction equal to zero. Then he take moments about say A and equate it to zero. I haven't had the chance of asking him about that by comparing your method to his. Is your method applicable and won't that change my answer?
Thank You Sir
You have understood yourself not to others
Sir Can we take a cut the section in same way and remove opposite part then calculate moment across pt B then also it same ans?
is this approach right
Yes we can by taking right moments
God of mechanics 🙏
Sir why we are not consider the cutting truss .we are using entire truss in the problem.what is the use of dividing two parts
Thank u sir keep up
Sir can you explain problems on ecosticts? Because I'm afraid of that topic sir.
Sir at point a there should be 2rxn as A is a hinge point pls reply sir
hello, why the force in AD is not taken? F AD force should be taken or not?
Thank you sir
Thank you so much sir and I have an another truss to calculate can you please
what about force F(AD) sir
why have you not considered that for moment calculation about point B
Sir why you considered Ra which is in upward as negetive in moment equation
In method of section can we cut the section through 4 or 2 members
Not understood.. considered moment at point B, but focused section is left-hand side one..
If focused section is LHS One ,then we have to take moment about A or D?? Clarify my doubt
Yes, vertical component reaction not taken
Same
thanks alot
Sir tha member of AD forses dose not calculated why???
Excellent sir
