      Thanks very much glad you enjoyed it. Regards the channel it's of little consequence to me, those who know, know. The platform is driven by other more influential factors totally removed from the photography itself.

    Stuart, you are far too hard on yourself. Your images are always of an excellent quality. The ones you consider to be not quite right are very good indeed. All the images are capturing the light. The drone shots are really good. Please keep posting like this. I fully understand your frustration with the conditions but as always you manage to make the most of it and succeed when most of us would give up. The last focus stack image is superb. Thoroughly enjoyed your vlog.

    I can understand your frustration about the conditions and your luck which didn't quite help you pull the week off as you would have ideally liked. But the images you shared especially from the beach across to the snowy hills left me open mouthed at how simply beautiful the scenes you captured were. Incredible light...even though on limited occasions for you. Many thanks for sharing, Stuart.

    Hi Stuart, to say you though that trip was a little "off", I'd haven been massively elated to have taken any one of those shots. I was actually thinking how effortless you make these videos look, despite what really must be a lot off effort. So thanks for a grand day out, and what a location .. See you on the pubcast.

      Thanks Steve much appreciated - as I’ve said to others, you can only give your own perspective and I set my own standards. Was a good trip, good craic with mates, so so images largely with maybe one exception (rainbow shot) not the end of the world, as I said it’s what keeps you coming back. Keeping a healthy perspective is important.

    A great video, thanks Stuart. I recall a recent holiday where the weather didn't match my hopes or expectations, and I allowed it to impact my feelings about the trip and the photography during it. Since then, I approach each trip with more of an open mind, with the aim of adapting my plans and making the most of what I'm given. I appreciate that this is your livelihood, so such a trip is more of an investment for you, but this approach is working for me. Sorry that you were disappointed and had to cut things short. However, I really like all of the shots you shared here, and you've got me looking at drones for the first time, as those shots were incredible!😀

    Enjoyed the video. I'm not half the photographer you are but I find over the years that the bar personally is always getting higher, so it's seems harder to be satisfied with a shot because it will always be compared to previous successes. If that makes sense? That's not to say that I don't still enjoy trying and have the motivation to do go out. Keep up the great work! I would still be happy with what you came away with, particularly like the drone 'vein' shot.

    I appreciate that you didn't get as much from your trip as you would have wanted, but I have to say those images were stunning. Although some were simple in terms of composition by your standards, they were still very impactive and told a story of the location. As for drone photography, I personally see this as an extension of the 'normal' manner is which photography is done, because I offers the viewer with a perspective which cannot be achieved by 'normal' methods. Personally I really hope to see more of this.

    Enjoyed the video, as always, but sometimes feel you're a bit hard on yourself if I'm honest. If I was doing work as good as yours I'd be celebrating, Scottish weather is unpredictable at the best of times. As Mr Connolly says, if you don't like the weather, just wait 20mins there'll be another along! Harris looks amazing, never been there, but certainly need to add to list, particularly as we have friends who have just finished building a house there! Keep smiling mate! 😀

      Thanks Bob, though please don't misunderstand my understated views on images, I've not got to where I am in photography without having very high standards, the problem on youtube is too often the creator is telling folk the images/conditions are awesome when in reality they aren't. What passes as good for me will likely be wildly different to a casual viewer. Oh I've been shooting up there for long enough to know it's unpredictable, I expect nothing less!
      You should certainly get over there it's a truly fantastic place.

    It's fair to say that you've still come away with some fine images, even if they're not quite the ones you envisaged. It begs the question, when is the best time to visit Harris, as if you've had two trips now where the conditions didn't pan out as expected, so do you pick a different week or will it be a case of third time lucky? Who knows? I'm looking forward to seeing more stills from your new drone, almost as much as being able to successfully sell my Lee Filters gear in readiness to switching to Kase, but the bids weren't generous enough to facilitate that first time around. Better luck next time, eh?

    • @StuartMcGlennon
      @StuartMcGlennon  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Ian, best time? There probably isn't a bad time all year to be honest though my trips are very much based around my own free time away from the gallery, which is fine as I think the winter months provide better light and drama than summer which is true in most places anyway. I've been shooting the highlands for long enough to have zero expectations with the weather, you get what you get!

    I think in the future, all landscape photographers will have a drone and they will be so much more capable of/in low/high light, stabilization. They will even be AI to "find" the best locations/view points for you. They will even shrink, so that you can use them more places with fewer restrictions.

    Think this video has just pushed me over the edge to get the mavic 3 ! Beautiful shots with the drone, a real art in itself.
    The rainbow shot was especially good, what a moment to capture.
    Brilliant mood at the arch over the sea too !
    Stuart I’d be really keen to know your views on the mavic 3 compared to the air 2s, was it worth it to swop ? Thanks

    • @StuartMcGlennon
      @StuartMcGlennon  Před rokem +1

      Cheers mate 👍 video wise the mavic is marginally better though it’s only marginal, I’m still getting to grips with the d-log footage as it’s extremely flat and also quite noisy (iso is locked at either 400 or 800 vs the air 2s where it’s 100) it doesn’t really show in the footage once graded though it takes a bit of getting used to. Stills wise it’s a noticeable step up though, colour transitions much easier to manage and behave as you’d expect from a bigger sensor. The air 2s is still a cracking drone though and I may even keep mine anyway especially for hills where I’m likely to not shoot stills.

    • @DanielWretham
      @DanielWretham Před rokem +1

      @@StuartMcGlennon really appreciate your views on this Stuart, I probably use mine for 80% video and 20% stills so maybe the upgrade isn’t actually worth it for me ? As always a fantastic Vlog and stunningly good visuals !

    • @StuartMcGlennon
      @StuartMcGlennon  Před rokem +1

      Thanks mate I’ve primarily upgraded for the option of better stills with a view to sell prints in the shop, if it’s mainly video you’re doing stick with the air 2s. Mavic has a few nice extra bits and bobs with frame rates and different angles with the tracking but probs not worth upgrading for. Main thing I’ve liked is the variable aperture needing less faffing with ND filters.
