For Chris Gibbs, owner of UNION LA, basketball culture has a direct line and organic flow into streetwear. So it’s fitting that the latest round of the ongoing Jordan x UNION partnership sees that train of thought through. It acknowledges the feeling and emotion of Jordan beyond the arena, continuing an effort to capture a holistic view of the late '80s and early '90s defined by advertising, music, street style-and yes, a few magic, competitive moments.
With the Air Jordan IV as a starting point, Gibbs guides a collection that highlights fabrication and material. "The vision here was to mix suede and mesh, so we worked really hard to find the right materials," Gibbs says. "For the suede, we took hints from the really thick but plush … for the mesh, we wanted an old school mesh like the OG sneakers of the '80s." The result is an avant-garde adaptation of MJ’s fourth signature silhouette that breaks new ground in more ways than one.

The guava pair is definitely a Top 10 4 IMO. Time will show that these are a great take on the 4 and they'll skyrocket eventually.
I have the Noirs and seeing them everyday I have to say this is easily top 4. I have them next sitting next to my TS6 and I hate to admit it but these catch my eye EVERYTIME!
these are a top 10 for me. the only ones that beat the guava ice are the miltary blue my fav shoes and the lightning
I scored the Guava pair for retail and I love them! one of my favorite release this year. I agree that it may not be a top 10 colorway if you include all the retro OG colors but for a collab shoe these are amazing. Def worth the resell imo and I would of paid resell if I didn't.

I think aside from anything if you love the shoe just buy it...theres a diffrence between liking and loving...at the end of the day people will appreciate you rocking them even if they didnt pull the trigger on them....because lets face it we have all been in a situation where you look at a person rocking some sneakers and you be like damm thoose be looking dope but its not something i would buy... so with that beign said embrace your personality and rock what you love even if it means paying resale... that price will be worth to you and thats what matters
Black pair definitely looks better especially bc there is the ow 4s and the folded tongues on these are so clean. I think the regular tongue is too big.

Aside from the obvious changes to the Jordan 4, I don't think enough people are talking about how the panel of suede along the toe is cut different than regular 4's. That Jordan allowed Chris Gibbs to do that is crazy.

The Guavas are so much cleaner. The off noir needs a different color midsole /outsole

Top 10 Jordan 4? 10 is a lot. Think they are a fringe top 10 if your aren't including all the PE's and crazy rare shit that never released to the public. I can think of like 7 or 8 4's that are clearly ahead of these. Bred, White Cement, Kaws G, Kaws B, Lightning, Travis, Off White that probably it for me. Other may prefer the Doernbacher, cool grey, thunder or Levis but I'd prefer Union of those.

I wonder what the main inspiration for the colorway, tounge being down, and other details where, dont know why Union hasent talked about that more in depthly unlike how I feel like they did with the AJ1
Actually...they talk about it on their website. Unionjordanla.com if you just go to the shoe..lol. Also Chris did an interview with GQ if I recall where he goes into some depth about the inspiration and purpose. Also, you could infer from the anime that accompanied the drop, that there is a statement being made there as well. I got the guavas, fortunately for retail, solely to support the vision of the company. The icing on the cake is the quality materials, execution, and back story. These are not leaving my collection.

No disrespect...wasn't trying to come off like I'm schooling anybody. They provided a cool concept, unique shoe. I like that Union does a lot of things in the community outside of just sneakers.
While I think anyone can appreciate Union doing something different with the silhouette, they are definitely not a top 10 colorway. With that said the Guava is way better than the Noir in my opinion. The Guava colors blend so much better with that vintage yellow midsole.
