Oh yeah
The most used Sherlock phrase in every day life is “no shit Sherlock”
Marvel studios really missed their chance to use, "No shit, Sherlock" when RDJ and BC were in the Avengers movie together!
Rdj was the worst

"Sherlock Holmes's name was supposed to be Sherrinford."
Sherlock Holmes's name was supposed to be Sherrinford.
SHERLOCK HOLMES'S NAME WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SHERRINFORD.
Coincidence? I think not.
Is it safe to say Eurus?
The universe is rarely so lazy
*i know* when he said that I about lost my mind, I was expecting him to make a comment about it but then I remembered this was pre s4
Wait a second, in Star Wars The Force Awakens there was a base called Starkiller Base.
Starkiller Base.
Starkiller Base.
Starkiller Base.
COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT.
Robert Downey Jr. = Most "Action-y" Sherlock
Benedict Cumberbatch = Most Intricately Written Sherlock
Jeremy Brett = Most Authentic Sherlock
Basil Rathbone = Most Iconic Sherlock
Johnny Lee Miller = Most ...Passable Sherlock
Ridiculous bad show.
Basil Rathbone fan here.
All accurate
Sherlock Holmes has actually been portrayed over 25,000 times in books, film, plays, etc, which is probably more than Dracula. Also focusing on Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland, there's a plaque at the falls stating "At this fearful place, Sherlock Holmes vanquished Professor Moriarty on 4th May 1891"
Benedict Cumberbatch is the best Sherlock Holmes ever!
Yep
For sure 🤣💞
I can disagree. BBC's was great, and I absolutely adored the series, there was one done by Russia's Lenfilm Studios between 1979 and 1986. The historical representation of England and the original characters was so good the Queen awarded them with a medal.
Everyone here is talking about how Benedict was the best Sherlock but I recently saw Jeremy Brett's portrayal and I cannot imagine anyone else playing Sherlock that well. Benedict did really well too but I personally found that I prefer Jeremy Brett's as he was so dedicated in the role and he really fitted it well too.
I'm so glad I found the granada series on CZcams because otherwise I would be oblivious to other Sherlock's.
So very sad that he was not well in later life as you can see in some episodes, or we would have so many more of his portrayal in more episodes.
@@andreasb.stasiak2238 I agree.
I'm surprised that he didn't mention House, which is basically just Sherlock Holmes as a doctor.
I know right!!! That’s all I can ever think about !!! Like why don’t they just categorize him as a Holmes version/alternative Sherlock type/other life time Holmes..... (the influences were WAYYYY TOO HIGH. No pun intended lol & spot on to not be categorized as a Holmes character!!!!!) it’s ridiculously ignored... anyone who’s got a proper brain can spot it right away. Anyways.... yeah, dr house is pretty much American doctor Holmes.
Heyyoooo
Let's not forget the"Sherlock" parody by the Hillywood Show.
Urgh- YES!
We never forget that
"It's 221b Baker street"
I really much like the faster way the line is delivered there as in the series
Benedict couldn't have been a more perfect Sherlock
the three Sherlock Holmes incarnations you mentioned - Elementary, Sherlock and the Downy jR Movies- are so very different, I dont think you can quite compare them.
The Sherlock Holmes Movies are very americanised with a lot of violence and explosion and romance and barely any deducing and investigating, Elementary is a Crime Show with a little less witty and sassy and more CSI investigating and BBC Sherlock (my personal favorite of all time) stays true to the spirit of the books with long conversations, deduction, lots of dialogue and little shooting and exploding
RDJ's characterisation is the most book accurate though
@@tinchairs6384 i agree solely based in the fact that he is the only one of those three to portray Holmes's drug use without modern stigma. This (along from the fact that I can not in any universe agree with any depiction of Sherlock and Watson as being romantically involved) is one of the reasons that I could never get into the CBS show Elementary. Call me a purist but i could never get behind Lucy Liu's adaptation (nothing against her just not my thing. Also the common practice of having lead characters be constantly searching for relationships just seems forced particularly for a character like Sherlock. Now as for the BBC iteration. this version makes subtle deviations from canon but generally sticks to Doyles canon (although taking darker license with the stories from where Doyle took the characters). As for RDJ's version yes being that it is set in the right time, accurately depicts Sherlock's substance abuse habits and his eccentric nature and deductive reasoning as well as his love for theatrics, and ability to change his appearance frequently, are all reason why i will agree that it is probably most accurate. Now giving credit where credit is due the BBC does take some fun license with Holmes's substance problem by changing his thinking strategy from "3 pipe problem" to "3 patch problem" giving a nod to British laws on tobacco use. that was at least witty but does not seem to deviate that far from the character that Doyle wrote about.
one of my favorite things about benedict playing sherlock is that ben is actually related to doyle which is pretty sick
and i like the bbc take on sherlock because i love the entire cast and just the all around portrayal of the characters
i have a special place in my heart for martin freeman
A lot of people think that Sherlock uses the idea that people think he's a psychopath to his advantage, and throws them off by claiming the diagnosis sociopath. Also that he might like the idea that he doesn't have normal emotions cause it feels safer, and compliments his idea of himself even though he knows it's not accurate.
Thank you!
TheCyberwoman Hah that's basically me, I'm not a sociopath but I like to tell people that I am, it's easier that way...
Sherrinford is actually the name of the high-security psych prison facility where Eurus is in the BBC adaptation.
Now that I think about it, it’s a clever and quite symbolic use for the name since the only person who could actually reach out to her was Sherlock. (Originally named Sherrinford.)
30 minutes? How is this possibly stretched to 30 minut-- "A Study in Scarlet. No not that Scarlet."
***Faceplam*** Oh...
For people wondering, Waston sounds like Peanut in chinese. The translation for Holmes in chinese starts with Fu ( no idea why) and Benedict has curly hair, so it's Curly Holmes.
My favioiurite Sherlock Holmes version is the BBC Sherlock series. quite apart from the books, Cumberbatch brings a cold, manically obsessive and all-around human persona to the grate detective. He and I both revile in the work we do, we effectively go crazy if this is removed from us or we cant rely on our senses to make sense of the world. He and I both find small talk utterly inexplicable and insufferable, Both find love baffling and confusing and there are few people either of us really really care about in the world. I cant get mad at Sherlock when he irks those around him because I know how the cogs in his brain work. I love the Sherlock Holmes stories, the character of Holmes and most of all I am in love with his mind. I find so much beauty in the process of deduction as I do the process of diagnosis. I think that both Sherlock and i are so absorbed in our respective fields because its the only way we can make sense of the world and those around us.
There were too many big words so I quite half way through. Nice light novel though!
i was so happy when I saw you did Sherlock
I was happy to do him. Er, so to speak
BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH IS THE BEST SHERLOCK EVER !
Yep
I AGREEE AND MARTIN THE BEST JOHN AND ANDREW THE BEST MORIARTYYYY
Nosheen Zahir YEET
Nosheen Zahir Rubbish....
Benedict Daddybatch is such an amazing actor. The guy who plays Mariachi was really good too
Erin Music | *Moriarty | Played by Andrew Scott 💕
I love mariachi bands
so no mention of Cumberbatch being in Star Trek into darkness?
there you go another Sherlock / star trek connection
Luci Gallagher dumbbbbb. He’s a highly regarded British actor...... don’t u think he’s gonna receive any requests/offers in which other major projects want a brilliant actor along with the attention that he would bring?!?!?!!????
Another Sherlock Trek thing, Matt Smith wanted to be Watson, he was the Doctor, there was a Doctor Who Star Trek comic crossover.
Watson was played by a woman first by Margaret Colin in a 1987 TV movie called THE RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. Her name was Jane Watson, a direct descendant of John Watson.
#102 The Disney movie 'The Great Mouse Detective' is about Sherlock and Watson's mouse counterparts. The villain Rattigan is based on Moriarty and the queen even has her own mouse counterpart.
Cannot wait! Sherlock is so so good.
Alltime Conspiracies Hi, guys.
Alltime Conspiracies hi

A Study in Pink is definitely my favorite Sherlock episode.
BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH IS THE BEST SHERLOCK
Cumberbatch is good but no one was as good as Basil Rathbone.
Yep
nobody was as good as cumberbatch 😌
Honestly, due to childhood reasons, my favorite Sherlock is Basil from the Great Mouse Detective. It was my introduction to the character after all.
Actually that's extremely good! I mean.. If Benedict wants to be Sherlock, he has to read all about him as his character is abit flat and well-known while Andrew Scott could just not read the book and in turn become one villain that people knew so little about and without the proper knowledge of how Moriaty really is, he could be as vicious as ever and acts out even more tenacious accusations and other spree Moriaty did in the original books more without even being alike. It's just like a satire of the original Moriaty and frankly, that's perfectly great!
#6 - Sherlock Holmes has been portrayed hundreds of times by many, many actors....
*devotes 90% of video to a single adaptation*
This is almost entirely about the BBC Sherlock.
Yeah cause he’s the best.
Not meant to be an insult
Haha, jokes in you! He didn't come untill about a third of the video! I'm dissapointed too...
Not ONE bit about "Young Sherlock Holmes"?
this really should have been retitled 101 facts about bbc's sherlock rather than just sherlock holmes imo nothing against it but like sam said there are a lot of facts about sherlock
The best Sherlock is and always will be Jeremy Brett
How did he stick a Jennifer Lawrence reference in a SHERLOCK HOLMES VIDEO?! Dunno if I should be annoyed or impressed.
Bruno Silva be impressed then annoyed :3
definitely annoyed
Bruno Silva both
anyone who has watched season 4 of sherlock will realise why I freaked out when he said sherringford was sherlock's original name (also I live opposite the location of the island they used for sherringford)
Rhiannon Andrasko I know right I freaked out too
Rhiannon Andrasko Sherrinford*
Cool! Also in some fan-stories Sherlock even dresses up as a fake brother called Sherrinford Holmes XD
And some people speculate that there may be a third Holmes brother called Sherrinford
CUCUMBER lettuce in the Sherlock Sandwich I'm crying X,D
Fun fact: The Soviet Sherlock Holmes television series, "The Adventures of Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes", is a cultural phenomenon and to this day remain a legendary masterpiece of Soviet television. The actor who played Sherlock Holmes, Vasily Livanov, was awarded an Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2006, and has even visited the Sherlock Holmes museum dressed as Sherlock Holmes.
This series are absolutely phenomenal..
Benedict Cumberbatch or Robert Downey Jr?
AlltimeMovies Benedict Cumberbatch all the way!
AlltimeMovies Cumberbatch all the way
AlltimeMovies Benefit Cucumberpunch without doubt
AlltimeMovies cumberbatch... duh
AlltimeMovies Jeremy brett
Rachel McAdams played Irene Adler in the RDJ Sherlock films and Doctor Strange's love interest.
I love dogs but Lara Pulver is much better in Sherlock
RDJ is not the best guy who played(s) Sherlock. I like Benedict Cumberbatch plays a better Sherlock.
Erika Hill My favourite Holmes is still Jeremy Brett. Cumberbatch is a close second.
For one, Cumberbatch is actually British.
I think they're equal, they just play them I'm different ways
Man I rlly love me some Bennylick cucumberpatch
I am glad that I watched it... I love anything about Sherlock Homes. There were only about 10 facts that I probably did not know.
i love how they pointed out that study in scarlet was a flop when it was first released because personally it is probably one of my least favorite doyle works even though it introduces us to sherlock. This is mostly because even though Doyle does good character development for the antagonist of the story, the 6 chapters that make up the culprits back story cause a weird break in continuity and are personally dry to read.
1. Nimoy's "Bilbo Baggins" is rather trippy, totally campy, and a hoot.
2. The Spock-Sherlock quote about eliminating the impossible is Occam's Razor.
I just want to say that I find it very strange that as soon as I discover something new and watch it all the time, you release a 101 facts video on it. Sam, I'm sorry to say but I think your using me for video ideas. Thanks so much though because now at least I'll have something Sherlock related to watch before 1/1/2017!!
I love all things Holmes. Among the recent incarnations:
Sherlock >>> Elementary >>> Ritchie films. Though they are all good.
25:50 when does Sherlock not understand sarcasm ?

BENEDICT BENEDICT BENEDICT
5:22 Yes, however, he's mentioned in The Empty House in which he was revealed to have also been in The Final Problem but we just didn't know then.
You keep doing supposedly autistic characters. That came out wrong...
Sheldon (TBBT) and Sherlock are both thought to be autistic, like you said, and there is a popular theory that Capaldi's Doctor is autistic too based on his lack of easily expressed emotion, incredible intelligence and memory capacity and general inability to appreciate others' feelings. Then again, he might just be a Scottish alien, so...
Either way, I'm both (Scottish and autistic. Despite what most people say, I'm not an alien, I just have Asperger's...) so I guess I'm kinda like the Doctor, which is cool...
Doctor Who Minecraft i have both TSA and TDA and i am a canadian :0
Nice. Hows canada?
The Elementary show is quite good and is criminally underrated
"And instead John Watson is a *human* lady!"
Wait so John isn't a human…
I loved watching this! I have ADHD and can rarely sit through a video this long without pausing but I did it. Benedict is best Sherlock! I love how there was a mention of William Gillette as he's from the area I live in and I love to visit his castle which is dedicated to his Sherlock times.
Ben is the best Sherlock
Really hope they create a series 5! And also bring Irene back
BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Could you please do a 101 facts video about Elementary? I would love it if you did
You're very funny XD Keep being awesome! Also I love the random facts, I only knew a couple of them and it's always nice to learn something new about the things you love. Thank you for this!
Gadget is not a detective, he is an inspector, so moot. Moot as an entmoet.

I love Sherlock! season 4 will be amazing 😃
The title "The Final Problem" makes me quiver in my boots a bit but other than that it looks splendid!

Basile Rathbone is the definitive Sherlock Holmes!!!
Great pick....Basile was a d has always 👌been the best 👌.
To further the _Star Trek_ links, there is an episode where Brent Spiner plays Data playing Sherlock. Moriarty (as a sentient hologram), played by Daniel Davis, appears in two episodes, the same number as the number of Holmes books in which he has a direct role.
Other actors who have played Sherlock Holmes include:
John Barrymore (Drew's grandfather), John Cleese, Peter Cook, Peter Cushing, Matt Frewer, Charlton Heston, Jeremy Irons, Frank Langella, Christpher Lee, Roger Moore, Christopher Plummer, and Brent Spiner.
when you get the mansion...I expect a formal invitation
Thank you very much for this amazing video. Big fan !
It's not Rishen-back, it's Rike-en-back.
Benedict Cumberbatch & Jude Law are the best choice for both Sherlock Holmes & Jude Watson.
i think i have never clicked on a video this fast
Same
#02 0:56 'A Study in Scarlet' was written in March 1886, but not published until late 1887.
#09 3:13 Holmes' original name was to be Sheridan Hope.
#10 3:31 And Watson's, Ormond Sacker.
#16 5:09 Mycroft actually made a "cameo" in 'The Final Problem' as Watson's cabbie as mentioned in 'The Empty House.'
#19 6:04 It is commonly overlooked that Conan Doyle's father passed away in late 1893, and his wife was diagnosed with consumption (tuberculosis) at around the same time.
Benedict is the best Sherlock Holmes. :D
Ms Random dat do true
Robert Downey Jr. and Basil Rathbone. Best.Holmes.Ever
My daughter read the Sherlock Bones manga. She loves them.
Bendustick Cumberstack
I can't stop laughing
This was literally me:
Narrator: "How are Star Trek and Sherlock connected?"
Me: "Benedict Cumberbatch."
Narrator: "How are Dr. Who and Sherlock connected?"
Me: "Writers."
Narrator: "How are me and Sherlock connected?"
Me: "This video."
Narrator: "Two out of three of those questions are going to be answered today."
Me: "You have two mistakes, 1. They have ALREADY been answered, and 2. They were ALL answered."
Before anyone says anything, I admit this comment is pointless.
Sherlock Inspector Lestrade is actually two characters from the source materials, two Inspectors, Inspector Gregson and Inspector Lestrade. I actually use that method to forget things, when I wanted them to be erased from my head.
20:20 "Aw, maybe they should just kiss and make up. Oh they're actually going to do it okay."
Enjoyed the video. Was a little disapointed that it was basically just about cumbersnatch. Would of liked more facts on the older holmes like Basil Rathbone or Peter Cushing.
scott archibald Agreed. No mention of the Young Sherlock Holmes movie either (which was part of the inspiration for the Harry Potter books), or the fact that the Doctor in Doctor Who is loosely based on Sherlock Holmes.
Tom Baker's Doctor even dressed up as Holmes for one story, as did Matt Smith's Doctor.
Nobody has yet to even come CLOSE to Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes.
This was really fun to watch just as much for the commentary than the actual facts! :D
Teacher:Andrew, why didn't you do your homework?
Andrew:Because I wanted to have a unique perspective on World War II.
Teacher:What?
Your videos are so awesome!😉 You also choose great subjects!!!
Second
I love Sherlock holmes
Laughed way too hard at ,,no shit me" :D
Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman all played a role in a Sherlock film/series and now they're all in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, all we need is Jude Law, the guy playing as John Watson before Martin, appear in that universe. Oh and Robert must say awesome facial hair bros to a Benedict. That would be awesome!!
Your wish has come true. Jude law is coming to captain mavel
Oskand that happened with Captain Marvel!
OK here is one for you. Professor Moriarty was given 2 different names by Arthur Conan Doyle in his works.
ROBERT MORIARTY. In 1899 Doyle co wrote a play called"Sherlock Holmes: A Drama of four Acts". In the play he gave Professor Moriarty the first name ROBERT.
JAMES MORIARTY. In a Sherlock Holmes book Arthur Conan Doyle wrote in 1903 called "The Adventure of an empty house". Moriarty was given the first name JAMES.
Originally James Moriarty was credited as Professor Moriarty's brother.
Well here is Fact 102 - The phrase "Elementary my Dear Watson" actually comes from P. G. Wodehouse's Psmith books. The first usage of the phrase coming in at around 1909 in a serialised version of Wodehouse's book Psmith Journalist. I won't explain about Psmith as he is a very weird character and it would be better if you look him up.
Your voiceover was hilarious
You should do 101 facts about Mycroft Holmes.
OMG THANK YOU THIS IS AMAZING 😭😍
benedict cumberbatch
Oh yes, we love our boy Shezza.
