Sorry guys I can’t imagine how much you miss your dad. My dad had a big heart attack when I was only 17 he was 42, he pulled thru and he’s 73 now but it’s been a rough road , I’m so lucky to have him and mom still.
The Onstar feature when you are doing cross country trips with the satellite phone and nav is a great security feature. When things go bad it starts off with a dead phone or no reception!
Hey Eddie, I’d love to get your opinion on what used truck to buy. Im wanting to spend about $30-$40k and I have found some decent deals out there in this crazy marked. My question being would you recommend getting a 3rd or 4th gen Cummins or a lmm duramax? I’m looking at getting a toy hauler in the near future. Thank you!
Love these vids eddy! Can i make a request? To eliminate human input ( since the viewers can't feel the gas pedal and its position) can you run a test like this with the cruise set at different speeds or at least the speed limit, That way the truck is putting in the input? Then time your run and see what truck gets it done quicker?
Looks like Pops ran his truck in 7th (1:1) gear max, locking out 8,9,10. That’s why it said L7 on the display. Do over. Tell pops to leave the shifter alone this time. Just put it in drive with Tow/Haul. It’d be like Eddie running his Ram in 4th gear max (1:1).
lmaooooo i never noticed that thanks for letting me know im gonna have to put pop's on blast, i think he was trying to cheat so when it shifts and looses speed he did not want to show that, thanks for letting me know
Since they can't even measure the hitch bar correctly (5/8 is NOT 3/4), why would you expect them to operate the transmission correctly?! Since you're in Cali, maybe a test at legal speeds for towing would be useful. Towing at 70 is how those CZcams "dramatic trailer crash" videos are made.
To measure for a weight distributing hitch you have to get the squat over all four wheels of the truck the same. The trailer should be level and that is a function of moving the ball up or down. The bars on the hitch do not have to be straight. If you need to transfer more weight the bars may be curved to provide the proper amount of transfer from the rear to the front.
Pops pulled one one you, Eddie. Lol. That was a slick move he pulled. Do over. Or, set your tune to tow mode and tell him its stock. Lol. Great vids as always man. Great job!
You guys there were your at have long not to steep hills, here in Kansas we have short but steep hills, that's the best kind of testing to do for towing.
Just wanted to let you know that with pops havin the truck in L gear not D, he had control over what gear he was in. It never would have down shifted. Also when using the D selection with the shifter, with every touch of the brake it will down shift to next gear as long as there is gear left to down shift in with out maxing rpm range out. It’s how even my Colorado works with the 2.8.
I'd go Duramax, but I'd go Cummins if they hadn't redone the Duramax. The pros the new Duramax has over Cummins and Powerstroke are, larger wheel base, larger radiator, larger oil coolers, larger fan diameter, aluminum fan not plastic, turbo timer, ram air and fuel coolers. All are industry leading so in a bit shell cooler means hp/ and torque are not lost in summer towing and longevity of hp/torque because heat kills diesels and turbos. All that has been added under those massive front ends, function over form.
The reason for your gear not shifting from the 7th gear because you are driving in “L” Manual drive and all the shifting must be made by the driver; so you have to redo the test and this time drive in “D” drive !!!
I also watch TFL truck there here on CZcams and the hills and the loads there pulling the Duramax took last place and down hill there SO called exhaust break didn’t work that well again love seeing your pops hanging out that’s badass brother but at the end of the day ol POPS is a GM guy and you can put him behind the wheel of a Peterbilt and he’ll tell you his Duramax will Pull better then that it’s jest the way it is🤷🏻♂️😂🍻
I hate to be a Debbie downer but it’s hard to compare, you have 37s on the ram and stock tires on the duramax. That makes a whirlwind of a difference right there
lee santos ram makes a crappy truck but the Cummins is hard to beat and this is coming from a otr hotshot driver . I have experience all then dually trucks and if Chevy and ford would use Cummins for engines ram would never sell
Think GM now calls the transmissions, "Allison Branded." Not a true Allison. Also, that is correct that Allison does not make a 10 speed. Shady on GM's part.
what's up Eddie have a question for you is you 3500 ram has anti spin rear differential as standard option, im about to buy new 2019 3500 with HO engine the dealer can't tell me if come with it, i know 2500 they have an option you can get, please help out, keep the good work with your videos!!
Lmao 😂 when ever I see a video like this and some guy gets pumped on the few extra stock hp I’m thinking how pumped would he be if he knew the first tool to buy is a two post lift and a shop to put it in to pull the heads
I agree he needs to put it in drive put the tow haul on leave the shifter alone lol nice try😂I’ll agree though they all can pull a little toy hauler like that pretty well now hook some real weight back there and see what happens I’m with the Cummins all day Do some pulling up here in Montana through some of our passes that will separate the men from the boys
Eddie's Life lol yea I seen that and I was laughing 😂😂😂Hey brother those GM guys well try anything brother 🤷🏻♂️love the videos keep up the good work man👊🏻😎
Since when are MUCH larger/heavier tires an advantage in towing performance? Oh also he mentions he leaves the Ram in stock tune mode. So the stock tune Ram with a huge rolling resistance disadvantage tows better than the GM....RAM WINS!!!
Its prettu clear from just listening to the motor the Duramax is superior. I have a 2007 with many mods that will out pull both but love the new Duramax trucks.
Do over, he cheated, was in locked 7th gear the whole time. Next time keep it in drive, and watch that transmission keep shifting back and forth. Your pops was scared, did not want to have to say the cummins would have towed better.
That hitch vs fender measurement scenario was dumb. "Pops" needs to learn to understand that 2+2=4, but so does 1+3 or 0+4 and what all matters in the end is "4".
I like older generation their loyalty in American made trucks they know GM is American top to bottom unlike ram and Toyota’s top end is Italian and Japanese..

Ur pops makes me laugh.. lol.. "do u want me to accelerate? Oh u dont want me to show" lol i love it.. ur pops is a G

Again it’s what you like thanks for the video
Damb i gotta wait lol 🤣🤣good one👍👍
Great video! Just curious on why the shift lever was left on L ? Why didn’t you guys do the run on D.? Keep up the content Eddie!
haha i never noticed im gonna put pops on blast i think he did that so it does not shift and lose speed
Eddie, you gotta have Pops retest!
Can't wait for the ram towing vid with pops!
Great video!
What made you make the switch to ram?
Looks like Pops ran his truck in 7th (1:1) gear max, locking out 8,9,10. That’s why it said L7 on the display.

@pops ; shhhiiiiiiittttt lmao🤣🤣🤣
Eddy how is business at the shop still busy or have noticed a decline?
I own a Denali but they're both nice trucks
really interested in part 2
Eddy how is it out there with the craziness?
Just wanted to let you know that with pops havin the truck in L gear not D, he had control over what gear he was in. It never would have down shifted. Off topic sorry but do you run a gps in your can am? If so, which is a good one to go with
no sir i do not
Great Video! Your pops is funny! Love his truck! Keep it up! Ps tow that shit up the Cajon pass lol
Mash the gas, mow some grass and haul ass! Trucker here.
How are you seeing the gear you are towing in?
Had GM, Ford, and Ram. Best luck with Ram.
Eddie your dads a blast he reminds me dealing with my 26 year old and of course us dads know it all

Duramax baby
Why no one mentioned the wonderful Alison transmission, thats why it pulls so smoothly.
@@johngaudet6316 "Allison"

Your dad was so entertaining
I don’t understand how you can compare a Cummins that tune to a stock Duramax so that it kind of fairy is an Eddie
Never mind bud you addressed my complaint you’re gonna leave it in stock tune gotcha love the feds man keep them up
Tires kill the power and gearing, a little tow tune would help bring it back.
Can you compare banks idash to your edge monitor?
i did a video on that already
Hey I just bought my first diesel and I don’t know how the exhaust brake works or the plug on the front bumper on the 2500 Denali 2020
Can you help me I live in San diego
Just push the exhaust brake to engage it and if you live in San Diego you will never have to worry about the plug on the bumper
Do you get stopped for the tint on the ram?
not yet haha

Dam pops is the alpha forsure
Impressive for a stock L5P!
My 19 LP5 would not do that. Not that easy.
*duramax*
Is your dad running the banks derringer?
I noticed the idash
no just the idash
I pull over 30k with my Duramax. It certainly can do it. It would be nice to compare these trucks with a heavy trailer.
Wat rear end gears ur pops running?
If its a '20 it has 3.42s
You could have taken the the Duramax out of tow haul mode and let it shift up. It could have done that pull in a much higher gear.
Is the ram deleted? If it is then you may still have an advantage eddie even if you run it on the 1st or second tune
@Xxplicit Not the same
yes kept it on stage 1 and i have 37s
I can hear you so much better in the Duramax? What year is it? Do not know if your camera was in the same position... Cummins noiser for sure... hmmmm
Looks like a 2020, sweet ride but too much crome.
I just miss San Diego
Why are you driving in Low Gear??

jason sheehan lmao you better take another look my friend 😂😂😂
Just measure the wheel well it dosnt matter were you measure just need to measure at the same location.
Where is the Duramax Vs. Cummins part of the video?
I hate to be a Debbie downer but it’s hard to compare, you have 37s on the ram and stock tires on the duramax. That makes a whirlwind of a difference right there

Its not a Allison, its a ford/gm trans that Allison helps them build, look it up. Allison does not make a 10 speed.

So Pops has stock truck- stock tires. Ram has Tune and 37's . Chevy Wins!
no i left it on the stock tune nice try though haha
Re gear the Ram?
Why does that stock truck seem to have a Banks tuner sitting there?
Since when are MUCH larger/heavier tires an advantage in towing performance? Oh also he mentions he leaves the Ram in stock tune mode. So the stock tune Ram with a huge rolling resistance disadvantage tows better than the GM....RAM WINS!!!
How are you doing 70 in California, any vehicle with trailer , 55
Ya most people tow TOO fast. I'm a trucker when I tow the Airstream to the mtns I go 62 mph. All the idiots go round.
Its prettu clear from just listening to the motor the Duramax is superior. I have a 2007 with many mods that will out pull both but love the new Duramax trucks.
Bhahaha if your close bring your truck by and let’s see what it’s got
I love your pops
Actually 4th gear is 1:1, 5th and 6th are both overdrive gears
On the ram not the chevy
I have a SRW 1ton GMC Denali and it’s a beautiful truck but I wish the exhaust brake was better... Ford and GM could take a lesson from Ram on that.
You know what's crazy in the past the test on the big 3 HD GM always had the best exhaust brake I wonder what happened
why people so Afraid to step on the gas ....I don't get it.....hit it Hard man !
Wonder when the big 3 will say ok that’s enough power lol
Jason Keeling it seems that way
Takes 5 hrs to get to 70 dad: “it doesnt even know

Doesn’t he also have helper bags on the ram?
yes i do but we are not focusing on the ride
I'll wait until fiat-chrysler put Allison trans in their ram trucks.
How about just hooking the Ram up to the Duramax and let them pull against each other. That Duramax will be begging to stop being pulled.
😂😂
Search duramax vs Cummins.
Just saw it I think you would be surprised
Dude....i pull that with my pug 2.0hdi easly 😂😂😂 and u need that big truck cmoj really
I’d say Chevy pulled it better it definitely got to 60 faster than the ram and gmc wanted to hit 80 mph going up the second grade to the last.

18 /5/8 all day
That hitch vs fender measurement scenario was dumb. "Pops" needs to learn to understand that 2+2=4, but so does 1+3 or 0+4 and what all matters in the end is "4".
1/4 throttle and shifts at 2,700rpm, try again pops...
😂😂😂😂 seriously pop's trying to cheat
Tow mode holds gears quite high in my l5p with very little throttle
Cummins vs Isuzu, not much on Cummins, but would take it over an Isuzu disquised by the name Duramax !!!
I say the dirtymax
If you have it in L7 it will never go to 8th gear. L means locked to 7th gear.
I like older generation their loyalty in American made trucks they know GM is American top to bottom unlike ram and Toyota’s top end is Italian and Japanese..
This was no Duramax vs Cummins. Cummins was never shown. Where's the Cummins? Why not put them together?
