- Born and raised in Markham Jeff Skinner spent a lot of his childhood on local ice rinks. It wasn’t just for hockey as Jeff was also an accomplished figure skater up until the age of 13.

His sisters and parents are so positive and supportive, which honestly explains why Jeff Skinner is such a joy of a human being!
Well done Mum and Dad!
3:21 baby players with a nhl intensity calibre commentator hahaha I love it
What a cool guy. That figure skating training gave him a real edge in his hockey skating, and the work ethic it instilled in him has obviously paid off immensely. Total respect.
his family seems highkey so wholesome
What a lovely human being :)
Impressive. He just kept doing his thing and he made it to the NHL.
That’s a really great axel.. is hockey skates and equipment.. crazy..very very impressive.

Boy this comment aged poorly.
@@MrJameslupien aged like Milk
@@Djentlemanthall actually aged like fine wine
4 sisters...I bet that was fun. lol.
I know right
This is actually really common in Sweden (at least in my area). It develops your skating very effecive.
Actually, he does kinda look like Patrick Chan.
Similar smile I guess
Haha this man always smiling
I figure skate and I really want to try hockey.
Hockey's great. Yout figure skating will pay in dividends. You know how to use your edges. You know how to move on the ice.
That said its totally different. Skating is not the hard part. But figure skating will give you an advantage there nonetheless. Start practicing stick handling and shooting now off the ice. My hockey coach once gave ever guy a homework assignment. We had to buy a whiffle ball and a bicycle tire tube, cut the tube up and stuff all the pieces into the wiffle ball. It was the best off ice simulation of how a real puck moves on ice ive ever worked with. That said, nowadays they actually have blocks of acrylic you can buy that are designed to shoot or stick handle real pucks on. they feel just like your on ice. The wiffle ball bike tire wont cost you more than $5. Im not sure but those acrylic simulations are probably expensive. Good luck!
I did both. Falling in figure skates was painful. Hockey you can just keep pushing your limits because the pads catch you. I stopped figure skating
at 2:32 I thought it was chunk from the goonies.
Hope the Rangers can jump on the opportunity to sign a scoring winger like Skinner
I figured skated and played hockey. I am not making $9,000,000.00 a year. That was impressive with hockey skates and full gear without warming up. Now if he would puts some pucks in the net. Koach Krueger gotta put him back with jack.
Go canes!
damn cute guy
Population of Markam in 1996 was 173,383, right next door is the city of Richmond Hill which in 1996 had a population of 101,725.
Other notable current NHL players from this area:
Mitch Marner b.1997
Steven Stamkos b.1990
Conner McDavid b.1997
Jordan Binnington b.1993
All these elite NHL players growing up so close to one another....Unheard of in any sport.....
Must be the water...
Chill.. Ontario has many towns where there has been 4 players made an impact in a smaller time frame
Must be the $$$
Why is he still a hurricane I feel so bad wasted talent
They have him on the 3rd line lmao
The Hurricanes aren’t that bad. He’s been on the fourth line these past couple games. He’s like 2nd or 3rd in scoring. They might not be this year, but next year they’ll be a threat for the playoffs if they can be consistent.
Off to Buffalo! :)
and in buffalo we love him. kids been a stud since day 1 as a rookie. kids legit
@@stefana4241 until Coach K stuck him on the 3rd line and hasnt even let him sniff 3 on 3 or a shootout. Hasnt scored in 16 games as of today 3/7/20. Im glad i came across this. Its given me hope again.
Alright trade him back to Carolina lollll
His feet look really small
