He seemed such a good person. The US was not in the best shape and our military was #2. I recall him being a peace broker. I don't mean this to sound negative but he may have been too nice a guy to be President. These politicians are all crooked. He didn't come off like that.

Jimmy Carter was given kind of a bad rap as the most non loved president, but in fact I believe he was one of the most genuine and ethical men to ever sit in the oval office. He will be missed, he is the last of a generation.
If there is a heaven, Carter will be in it, I assume.

Considering what came before and after him Carter was a good president, it's just he 2as there when a lot of ish went down. But he did try. He added 8 million jobs during a period of high inflation and unemployment; he decreased the budget deficit; stimulated oil production; carried out civil service reform and appointed record numbers of women, blacks and Hispanics in government jobs; established the Department of Education; enhanced Social Security system; expanded nation marks system by millions of acres; finished SALT ll treaties; negotiated the Camp David accord; ratified Panama Canal treaties, etc.
But all that he did during his term pales in comparison with his service after, his philanthropy, election monitoring worldwide, brokering treaties and setting up negotiations worldwide, providing homes. All whilst being extremely humble and unassuming. Carter is a giant and while he may not be a truly great president he is a truly great man.
Sorry he's dying, but let's not forget his poor performance as president.....
