- Getting a commercial drone pilot's license is hard. Don't attempt it without studying! I prepped for my sUAS exam using an online course offered by Drone Pilot Ground School (DPGS). I studied for a total of 14 hours via DPGS. Then, I passed the FAA examination on my first attempt with a 93% score. Here's quick summary of how I prepped + info about what to expect on test day.

Basically what Franklin Z said lol
Watched Tony Northrups part 107 and the "Free FAA Part 107 drone
test study guide", took some sample tests from King Schools. Reviewed Tony's
the study guide the morning of and got a 90%. All Free and in total a day. Only thing that matters is above a 70%.
Almost identical story myself! Just passed with a 90% after only studying for a little over a day!
I've been using king schools and 3DR and getting ready for the test next week.
I feel fairly confident
@@aerialphotos5855 Test isn't that bad. It focused a lot more of reading charts then I expected and that was my weakest point but won't be that bad. You can mark questions and come back to them. You can get 18 wrong out of 60. Good luck!
High five @pete!! Taking it in the morning! Very bummed I wasted 4 mins on this video haha
Exactly. It is kind of sad that there are so many other free ground schools and the videos are so well done and yet have under 100 views - but those are also as good as any paid ground school.
You should put a disclaimer. You're helping by selling.
Paying for a course isn't necessary for this exam. The test is very straight forward. With a few hours of studying and reading one can pass it just fine without paying unnecessary fees.
Awesome man! Great video and really inspires me to take the test.
My 17 year old daughter and I used Pilotinstitute. Got a screaming deal on Black Friday. The course is good for life. Greg, the instructor is a seasoned manned aircraft and drone pilot and is a professor at one of the top aeronautical universities in the US. We took the course, completed it a week and scored 95% and 98%. He also will pay you $150 if you fail the exam after taking his course. I’m not being paid to say this...just wanted to tell you what worked fo me and my daughter.
Appreciate the review, Sergei! You were a model student. Loved those notes you took in the yellow pad. Of course, I had to pause the video to take a closer look :)
Hahahaha, I'll send them to you if you like.
This is a infomercial! Don't hide it. Say what it is!
- congrats on passing!
very informative and helpful! I appreciated the overall attitude you had (not condescending, confusing, or rude etc). thanks man! I'm currently studying for my Part 107 and PPL written :)
Pilot Institute kicked butt and was an awesome course....passed easily in two weeks from A-Z!
Thanks for your insight. I’ve been on the fence about taking online training, but this has convinced me to do it.
Awesome! Thank you for being so open about your experience. This has helped!
Thanks Bro! We're adding drone photography to our suite of services.
Yes, Love the Mavic Pro !
Great info & Congratulations Buddy.
Thank you for this video... even though it's old, it's helpful. Taking my exam next month and taking a course now to help.
I am taking the test next week! I just took my first practice test and scored an 81. I am using the UAV Drone school and it has great information and study material. Thank you for the video, a bit older but still relevant.
Just took it this morning and got a 95%... didn't pay a penny (except for the test).. The internet is an amazing resource
Congrats
What resources did you use? CZcams videos, notes, etc?
BozDuke13 CZcams and I missed 4. Don’t waste your money.
Make Asylums Great Again Like what channels? Tony Northrup?
I passed it last week with a 95%. It took me 30 minutes and I found it to be far easier than some CZcams channels led me to believe. There really is no need to pay for a course.
This is an awesome DPGS ad!
I take my test next week. Thanks for the tips!
Super helpful! :)
Thanks, I will use this to study
thanks for the video...I have been studying Since June....I might sign up with ground school - thanks
Thanks for this.
Well done, thank you so much for this. I've been scouring the web for about four weeks now and I'm so confused. I hate to think that I'm going to join an online school. I hear everyone see that the test was easy and it took them a few hours to study and I said to myself how on earth? Am I just stupid? Or are these people online? After watching your video my faith has been renewed real talk. Thank you again you have a new subscriber.
I am also thinking about taking this course, and then the test to follow, my union training school gives the course for free to all members but it's on there schedule and at our training facility which is roughly 80 miles from my home, and they are after work hours usually 5 days Mon-Fri from 4:30pm to 10:00pm. This schedule is incredibly inconveniant for me personally. It seems that the $249.00 is much worth it for me considering the time and travel spent to go to my training facility.
This is the third video in a row that this “ school “ came up. What’s even stranger is that all of the videos said the exact same thing. They did not reach out to me I reached out to them. If you’re going to mislead people, at least do it right.
Thanks great video
Nice review and vid! Sending some sub love from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Nice work on this video. You are easy to listen to and seem like a cool guy. Nice job.
This video would be a great demonstration of proper use of visuals. Maybe I'll show my students!
Wow a 10 minute commercial for drone pilot school.
Lmao @ “wung”
I think you say winged it there not wung
Thst cracked me up haha!
Thanks for the video ! Super informative and seems legit as you’re not suggesting some ez out
I agree, the test is a fairly difficult test, but you don't have to take an expensive course. I did exactly what DJI Senord did and past on my first try with 90%. The UAS107 app and FREE CZcams videos on aviation weather and sections was enough for me. Just give yourself at least two weeks of dedicated study.
Thank you so much man, I've had my drone for 2 weeks and have been studying on youtube, but this is definitely what i'm gonna do now, stay awesome!!
Hey... I got fam in gold hill and Medford... Great video!
Thanks for the info and congratulations. Question. The day you passed the test and got the printout did you receive your Part 107 License number? I have a project coming up and plan on taking my test within the next couple weeks and need this number to plug into some software to get a flying exemption through LAANC. Just didn't know when they issue a number, even if temporary until the official card arrives. Thanks for any info on this.
So you paid $300 to take a paid online course, and then paid $150 to take the test -- a total of $450. If you had skipped the course, and just took the $150 test and failed, you would've seen which questions you answered incorrectly, studied those sections, and taken the test again for another $150 -- a total of $300 spent, for a savings of $150.
Logic’s these days..
He values his time way more
There are over 200 questions of the 60 possible on the test, and it only tells you which area you missed the question in.
I also got a 93% with drone pilot ground school. I would say it’s worth it, I studied for less than 2 weeks too.
I am going to be ordering a DJI Avata and what to get my FAA 107 license. Thank you for this video. I will check out Drone Pilot Ground School.
Thanks for the video!! Went the same route with UAV and got a 97%! The UAV school is awesome!
You must be very smart!!
I took all 3 amateur radio exams in August of 2018, scoring 98% on the amateur extra class test. This test was 50 questions out of a pool of 720. The test had 4 multiple choice, many questions with circuit and other diagrams. I'm studying for Part 107 certification the same way. Lots of practice tests supplemented by the FAA Study guide and CZcams videos. That being said, not everyone grasps technical information readily, and there are programs out there that can be of help. Just be sure they are reputable and you are getting a corresponding value for your money.
I studied for a week with free materials and got a 97 ................
I only got a 95 after a few practice tests :/
Thank you! Great video. Very informative. I’m taking my test this Wednesday. With that said, my question is: can you go back to questions? Or do you have to answer each question as they are given (as so to move on to the next question)??
About to pass the test soon, really helpful thanks!
Just finished the UAV Coach Drone pilot ground school course and Scored a 97% on the test.. For me it was money well spent...
Thanks for the tips! You convinced me to register through drone pilot ground school
I'm an attorney in Rockford Illinois my practices with Aviation law and Trey getting all the FAA rules and regulations talking about dry reading
HAHA! I'm in Prineville!
I'll be taking it in Bend.
Sooooo, you're selling an online program instead of talking about very good free available online sources? Very nice! :(
Nice commercial dude.
I used your discount code and passed yesterday, 90%. Thank you!
any Proof you paid $300?
I almost fell for it. But its never bad to study. So if it works for many. By all means. I’ve had to take IT tests. A+,Network+,CCNA. and they are multiple choice and hard as hell.
hello 👋 congrats 👏 I got 92, saludos
It really wasnt that hard of a test. The test to get my custom herbicide applicator licence was harder to pass.
This is an infomercial. :/-
While online with the study course, are you permitted to watch each vide multiple times
Lot of people are book smart. Upon saying that a Drone Pilot License is the same as a vehicle driving license. It gives you the right to learn to fly legally and correctly. I know alot of smart people who don't have an ounce of common sense.
I passed with 100%
Am I understanding this correctly you have to retake the test every two years if you want continuous legal operation of your drone commercially? For example let's say you want to do professional drone video production work for 10 years, you would have to take the test five times and it would cost you $1500 is this correct?
You’re still in Oregon? Love to connect. Just aced my exam as well!
Was the first drone shot with the teal waters in southern Oregon?? Near Mt. McLaughlin or Lake of the woods?
haha Microburst = Holy Shit wind! That was funny
I got a 72 on mine.
at least i passed mine
My drone cost $60 ... but I have to pay $300 to get 1 minute clips..😡😡😡
BamaBoynCali what kind of drone? $60?
Hello! Great video! Curious, is the coupon code still available? When I try and apply it, it says it is not.
ah, seemed like I just needed to copy and paste it. Thanks.
How the heck has no one pointed out in over a half that he keeps saying, "just winging it"?
GHOST BUSTERS 8:32 LoL😁
Ngl I studied for an hour and still passed
SO let me get this straight ---IF I fail the FAA test, they will pay for my retest fee? AND, if I use your code I get $50 off?
Are you the son of Victoria Boutenko?
I met her in Chicago long time ago, we were fascinated by her story for sure.
You mean how you got a business partner ?
At 3:42 it shows the areas where you failed the most questions (interpreting sectional charts, airspace regulations, small UAS operations & calculating aircraft performance). These are perhaps the easiest yet most important sections to know. TheDroneCoach.com thoroughly reviews these sections in our online study course for just $107, and we recommend other resources as well such as 3DR's 120 question quiz and the Northrup's video too, although he does state a few things incorrectly in his video (latitudes run lateral, not from north to south).
Being in Canada is it possible or would it be worth my while get the licensed (Visiting US) Thanks,, fly low an slow
Thanks for the info. Im now taking an online course. So far looks like my weakness is figuring out pressure and density altitudes, who would of thought weather would be so difficult lol hopefully there isn't too many questions on the test that have to do with that subject ugh
2nd failure with same score of 62...and I studied. Need a new approach
How useful is it to have the license for jobs in Florida?
I'm using drone launch
Let me get this straight. To take the FAA part 107 test cost $150. This drone school cost $299. Why in the hell would I pay more to study for the test than the test itself? That’s not cost effective. This is just an ad.
Selling your practice test huh?
hahaha
Gx19 Films you can take practice test online right now, for free.
Is the discount still valid? It's not working for me.
Don't waste 300 bucks. There are tons of free training videos on CZcams.
Did you take your writing at a CATS facility??
Day job - used car salesperson. I fill in selling tuper ware, time shares, and the recipes I have passed down since the Gene Autry was a cowboy ...
Study for a week and guarantee 90 percent. Part 107 is easy w just a little research
I hate this kind of marketing for videos, it just gives me more rejection to buy this kind of courses
did drone launch academy for only $129.. looks like the same exact program
OMG - That's crazy. What a find.. I'm saving so much money! THANKS!!
This guy definitely got paid by his study guide place
Hi bro, i have a dji spark, do i need to have do the test?
I am a cyclist and i have a cycling youtube channel, but i dont fly it more than 40 min, max 50 mts. To record bycicle races.
That drone is light enough to fly without a license, if you are flying it as a hobby, not making $$ from it. If you are going to get paid using your drone, the FAA wants to get paid by YOU and makes you pay them $150.00 a year to to take and maintain your license. It's all about $$. I will say it IS good to know a lot of the stuff for safety reasons, though. Safety for others, mainly.
have you got you plastic licensen yet. saludos Remote Pilot
т.е сама сдача теста стоит 150 за каждую попытку, верно? и лицензия нужна для коммерческиз полетов только.
Sorry for this question but is to possible to pass the Part107 Online?
Scorpix - A creative Photo, Video and Drone Agency No you have to go to a testing center.
Title should be: What I paid for my FAA 107 course (BONUS: 6 tips you probably already knew)
Heard $299 closed the video up....
you still flying drones?
93%? ha! I got 97%!!
lol
Kinda just a big ad. Thanks anyway
Are the answers for sale?
Can I study and take test without owning a drone?
La Marcus Goshen yes, what you own has no bearing on the certification. You could have a Saturn V parked on your launchpad.
Here’s how I passed my test... by clicking this affiliate link of mine
