Ken, I love the Content. Great way to explain the situation of becoming a Pro Droner.
Ken, Thank you so much for this information! I'm in the process of starting an aerial business, and this is some information I needed to get! Keep it up!
Ken you literally read my mind as I was just doing the research on this the last two days. Thanks!
I'm a pincher thanks to you. You taught me this lesson a couple of months back when I was first getting started. You've taught me a lot. Keep posting these great videos.
Thank you so much Ken! I was just thinking about how to start a business because I am going for my part 107 soon and I did not know what to do. Thank you for giving me something to start on!
"I'm a pincher not a thumber" and I want it! Nice job Ken
I have been a pincher my whole recreational and Professional UAS/RC Career. I have been involved in UAS for 12yrs and RC for 29 yrs. Thanks for sharing correct information to the UAS community in a fun way.
Ken, this video was very well done, Spot On! This video should go viral for people wanting to know how to get started and being compliant. Thank you, Sir!
Brilliant as always sir and right on point. Thanks for making this a fun way to learn.
Ken, Great video, Very good layout on how to start things out without making it sound confusing to someone that may be new to the scene.
I’m a pincher, not a thumber ... great video, thank you Ken, I see your videos as an institution of learning and try to put your lessons to good use ... I was a “pincher” from the get-go, even in my “video gaming days” and continue to do so with drone flying ...
I just started in this side of rcing. You are perfectly correct on the pinching made learning curve alot easier. I'm now a pincher not a thumber. Thanks for all your videos.
Happy New year too you Ken! I found out the hard way this evening that the Mavic Pro makes an awesome Aloe Vera trimmer! LOL Nothing major damaged, just one single chipped blade. Trying to go in reverse in a confined area about three feet off the ground to film a snowman we made. Forgot the mavic is a lot more touchy than my phantom 4, not to mention the fact that my eyes were glued to my monitor.🙄Lesson learned until the next brain fart. LOL Happy Holliday's Ken! 🎄
Don't forget insurance! :)
Ama
@@metalfox1911a1 I don't think ama will cover your "business"
@@pdub422 ama offers liability insurance to model aviation flyers, though that's only if your other insurance won't cover it, or if you have none, and you were operating in a safe manner in accordance with the ama rules, then the insurance kicks in.
@@metalfox1911a1 right, but that still covers you when flying commercially under part 107 as well? I was under the impression it was only for hobbyists/recreational use
@@pdub422 It's at least only for model aviation, which I don't believe could be used to define any DJI products.
Thank, Ken, I live around Nashville and I'm very new to drones and photography. I've recently bought a Mavic Pro Platinum. And I'm so impressed with this technology. I''ve never controlled anything like this bedside my old toy quad copter. It's very easy to control. I would like to get into commercial flying and photography but I have a lot of flying and editing skills to improve on. Thanks for your videos.
they have been the most helpful on what to do and not to do. Plus, I'm an a gamer and pinching is very new to me. But i think i can do it!! Keep up the good work my man!!!
Dude, I’ve been telling Dad jokes since I was 7 years old and grew into it so you’re my kind of funny. Your humor and delivery is f’ing hilarious! I’ve been following your videos for a bit and your info is spot on and appreciated. And for both my wife and my drone, I’m a pincher not a thumber.
I'm a thumber, but I still love your content! Happy New Year!
I'm a pincher not a thumber
Heron Wisconsin we love flying drones 😏
THANKS SO MUCH KEN. I just passed my part 107, and am waiting for the official certificate in the mail. I passed the test on December the 18th. I intend to start my own business, and really got some great ideas from your video. My wife has fallen in love with the cute little drone, she's a retired speech pathologist and is convinced that it talks. I'M A PINCHER, NOT A THUMBER !! (Thanks to you.) I have been flying for almost a year, for personal pleasure, and for my youtube channel THREE FINGERS FOLLY. I made my first profit 4 days ago, for trading some aerial photos of the R V park, I stayed in, for 2 nights stay. Your awesome Ken, I have learned a lot from your videos. Thanks, keep up the great work.
Congrats my friend!
Feels good to make money doing something so fun, huh?
Good luck with everything!
The best advice I've read so far, is to get a copy of Velocidrone or Liftoff and practice in a simulator, before you waste any money on any quadcopter equipment at all.. or even if you already bought some.
When you have a sim, you realize how much waste it can save you... in one afternoon I can and will crash a thousand times with no $ lost, and with every crash the drone is reset to start within 3 seconds.
CASA in Aus just gives you a piece of paper for your license :( I like your fancy card from the FAA
Also ouch on the crash.
Not going to lie for a chance to win, but I will give it a go.
Ken, I started using the pinch technique and boy oh boy I felt like an moron. WHY hadn't I been doing that since day one?!
Wonderful, Karl!
Glad to help. 🤓👍
Great video Ken and are very much looking forward to your 2019 adventures.
Happy New Year
This video is Gold!!!
I've been Heron good things about your business! Bahahaha
I'm now a pincher not a Thumber since I Was corrected by you at Spinup
I am a Pincher not a Thumber.
I'm a lifetime gamer, so I default to thumbs and feel that I do pretty well. But Ken keeps bringing this up, so I'm going to give it a shot on my next flight. =-)
you guys are barely even actually flying your aircraft lol. Does it matter
I'm a pinscher not a thumber Thanks Ken, I'm studying for my part 107 right now, lots to learn

Happy 2019, pal. Enjoyed the video on the 1st day of the new year. Keep ‘em coming. Bah bye.
Good info for new business owners, I'll add Alignable and Instagram TV. I personally Noted: 1. Toy drones have Gopros ✅ 2. Pinch ✅ Hey, only 7 thumbs down, not bad! Happy New Year, thanks for all the work you do!
i know all this stuff but it still was exciting and fun to watch! great video Ken!
This is great stuff Ken, I hope you hit 100K subs before March. The new drone flyers are coming your way. Yeah!
Thanks Jack!
I'm hoping for 100K. Fingers crossed!!
Great advice Ken! Wishing you the best for 2019 and May al your wishes come true.
Good thing you mentioned pinching cause thats how I feel safe and more maneuver much better. The lil r2 yellow dronee is cool
I'm a pincher, not a thumber, and I come from a video game background using thumbs on an xbox controller. I became a pincher a couple years back thanks to your videos!
Ken, thank you for saving me $$$. Although I have been studying for the 107 test and felt I could pass the exam, I decided to enroll in your recommend 101 course using your discount code. You bring a humorous presence on the drone subject to your CZcams channel, informative, accurate, and useful.
That's wonderful!
Best of luck with the test, Francisco!👍
Awesome information as always. Next month I'll have had my phantom a year and I've been taking practice tests and studying so I'm hoping next month or by March I'll be ready to take the Part 107, the airplane/airport codes are killing me but I want to have my license. I've had several friends ask me to do some aerial work for them and I feel bad telling them I can't (I also know I'm missing out on some really great opportunities)
Anyways, thanks again for such a great video, I always look forward to your videos and I have learned so much from them (and been entertained by them too) Happy New Year Ken!
For anyone who was wondering. if you already have an airplane pilots licence like me all you have to do is go through the FAA online drone course then fill out the IACRA application only takes a couple of hours.
Side note:
You need to be current with your biannual flight review.
Glad I found this informative resource. TY
YW
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. You are so much fun to watch. Cheers!
You're very welcome, Dylan.
42 years flying as a Thumber. Hard to break old habits! Good video! Now if only people will follow the rules. Enforcement will never be effective! I appreciate what you do!
Thanks JD!
I am from Vietnam, this is the first time I come to your channel, your presentation is really interesting, I love it. thankks
Ive been flying for damn near 4 years, and I have gotten pretty stellar with thumbs, flying acro almost exclusively for nearly a year, thumbs only. I screw up right away as soon as I try to pinch the sticks
Happy New year!

Priceless
I'm now a pincher not a Thumber. Gonna take my 107 test as soon as the FAA office opens back up. Love the videos Ken!
Hi Ken, to start, " I'm a pitcher and not a thumber". I have been following your CZcams videos for some time and you provide very good content. I have been flying UAS and Drones for over 40-years and now have moved my hobby to commercial. I am a Part 107 commercial pilot and look forwarding in learning from the master, you.
I'm only 16 and I already have a dji phantom drone and I am working on getting my FAA drone license. Having my own drone business is my dream so this video is a great help. And I now know that I should wait till I'm 18 to start the business considering most of the things I need to do I have to be 18 to do.
Good plan my friend!
Keep practicing and you'll be ahead of the game by 18.
@@KenHeron that's the plan. And oh Happy New year's 🎉

I'm a pincher not a thumber, but I learned flying RC airplanes and helicopters. The pinch really helped with the rc helis
I'm a thumber, not a pincher 😛 I used to build RC controlled boats some 30 years ago. These thumbs have won me a lot of competitions 😎

Hey Ken, First time pincher long time thumber, I'm just getting started on drones and all I have is 4 mini drones which are toys, yes, I don't know what I can do, still waiting for weather to change to sunshine. ( Live in Seattle) all I do is practice with my mini toys and make stupid wacky mini drone vids on TikTok. You are an inspiration to all beginners. Love the content and your sense of humor watching all your videos. Stay neat and tidy.
Heck yeah dude! Thanks for this.
this here video got me !! I went thru Remote Pilot 101, and applying for FAA test on Monday, Haven't even received my drone yet, but settled for a Fimi x8 SE for now yabut wanted to be legal right from the gitgo!! I used your link for the Pretest stuff, however I have been to Flight school, back in the 70's and trained in a Cessna 150, and I am a professional photographer for 20 years! thanks!!!
That's awesome, Hugh.
Glad to help. Happy flying!

You bet, Bobby!
Thank you. Great video! Best one on the net.
Love your videos! Super funny! Thanks!
I use a hybrid stick style. But there are tons of thumbing 3D pilots that will fly precision circles around anyone with any type of aircraft. It's completely about what works best for you.
Great video, Ken!!
I'm a pincher, not a thumber. Thanks Ken - I enjoy your videos and appreciate your advice on 'droning'.
I wish you lived here in GA. I feel I could learn alot from you
