- I GOT IT. When I played COH for the first time, it simply seemed unachievable. I played this chapter of history again and again and then settled for that the chapter is bugged and there is no fair way to get the medal. But after years when I played it again I played offensive and then I realized this was the way to get the medal. If you build defences on your side there is no way you will inflict 350 casualties. But one thing... keep on saving after every 50 or 100 kill, otherwise you will smash your screen :D;D.
When I played the counter-attack for the first time, winning medal seemed just unachievable. But there is a good thing about games "You can play it once again from the beginning".

Old. That's not what Vet looks like after a certain patch years ago.
Key advice for those players who want to copy above gameplay as accurate as possible....if you havent capture the stragetic points in previous Carentan Mission(or less) then am i affraid u have to replay that mission again....becuz at CounterAttack mission you will be given 10 mins to set up Jerry Trap.
That's interesting chock point way up there top of map. I'd thought i'd be easy to place my Machine Gun Emplacement gunning down narrow path coming across the three bridges, but every time i did, the enemy tanks are just hella annoying steam rolling and at that point they just ignores my remaining defense and pools into my city.
I tried almost all the possible strategies but failed. This strategy was born out of irritation :D. This chapter sucked litres of blood out of my eyes :D;D
@@SCULLCONTROL Is it really worth the experience to play rest of campaign of COH1, i have COH2 and wonder maybe mechanically and lvl design campaign be better?
@@unsungsenpai4394 Every chapter of COH is great but COH2 disappointed me. In fact it disappointed the major sector of strategy gamers. So I wont vouch for COH2.
Nice tactic, mate. I used it, but I played on Easy, becouse doing this over and over was mkaing me insane. :)
Haha... you think I was able to do it when I played it for the first time. I have played this round for about 20 times. Only then I was able to do it. Now I am as sick of it as you feel about this round :).
My strategy:
1. Keep all forces behind the river
2. Mine the bridges
3. Place MG nests in front of behind the bridges with an anti tank gun.
4. Put snipers and lmgs in the buildings near the bridge with a bazooka squad.
5. Place mortars in the courtyard.
Works every time, even on expert.
Got medal with this strategy ?
I couldn't get the medal with any of my defensive strategies :(
@@SCULLCONTROL eliminate mortars with mortars for 350 expert kill.until their kill add to your count in new patch there is no way to reach 350 kill.
@@ashuraikvar7320 Sorry dear but I am in no mood to play COH again. I thought about playing it agian but then banged my head on wall to straighten my thinking.
that's... what i used to do but it wasn't long before the pesky mortars destroyed all mg positions and they broke through eventually , got pushed back and the upkeep wasn't helping either , got pushed back to the church before the town square even got destroyed with all my decrewed AT guns there , no manpower to build a new AT gun and reinforce what's left of my squad and yeah well lost before reinforcments

@@SCULLCONTROL I grimaced when it ended with only one unit left to kill, and then... Epic video. I've played a lot of CoH1 in my time and this was one of the missions I could never get a medal from. It bugged me to hell! I found this a while back and it was buried in my watch later pile xD

When I did it once, then it became an easy game (if timed right). I have uploaded the video where I got my medal even before the reinforcement came :D... and I am so proud of it :D.

Yeah...was a real relief ! it was my first after playing the scenario for 20,000 times :D but , but but... then I did it again and that was gooood.
@@SCULLCONTROL I've played this level a couple of times using your strategy but I could only get around 250 casualties. The enemy mortars are the problem.
@@robbieshand6139 Yeah they are real problems... so be careful to place your barricades near enough so that you could take them out as soon as possible. Use the mix of all units and dont rely on any one or two types. Use your mortars and machine guns to suppress, snipers to take care the infantry and heavy units like rangers to do tanks and I am sending you the link of my another gameplay where I did it easey peesey way czcams.com/video/YfxCc9ZJVh8/video.html
My tactic is to defend every entry point as close as I can so the Krauts will be pushed back. All sectors should have an MG emplacement. The middle entry point(where the first Stug entered) should have 4 Pak 38s on both sides( 2 on each ) so that the AT crews can hit the side armor more frequently. As well as having at least 2 Airborne squads(equipped with Recoilless Refiles) also on each side for mobile anti tank and infantry support as well as 2 engineers( with flamethrowers) for additional anti-infantry support and for better suppression. The other side sectors have very little Axis Armor movement so there is no need for a Pak 38 and only requires 1 Airborne squad on each side sector as well as having a flame engineer positioned on all sectors to assist in enemy suppression and mobile repairs. And when the general orders to concentrate all defenses on the Church( after the Town Hall gets blown to bits) defend the munitions points with all your might until Able Company arrives with the M4 Shermans.
I am so tired of this round that I cant say I will try it 😂 but lets see if it calls me :D

Wait a minute, how did you had those two points at north already captured? When the mission starts, you have to capture them and Nazis are defending them.
You can capture them in the last chapter my dear friend. If you are not thorough, then you would have missed it. I just love to go everywhere in the round even if I dont have any business there. You can see other missions to verify :). BTW Thanks for watching !!
Do that on patch 2.7 and then tell me about those GERMAN MORTARS WHICH AREN'T APPEARING IN YOUR ANCIENT VERSION UNTIL MUCH MUCH LATER THAN THEY DO IN 2.7

I played this game a long ago... I had it on a dvd so no chance I troubled for the patch.. so it might be right.. you too can have a different patch which I havent played so.. I guess I wont be able to help you... sorry !

How do you prevent that whole nice encampment from being blown up with mortars? Every time I try to set up defences like that, the main problem are enemy mortar squads appearing and blowing it all up and they are too far away to take them out quickly. For some reason in your playthrough I didn't even see them show up.

Because even though he posted this video in 2017 he's using a very old version of the game. This doesn't help anyone. There's more than just the mortar absence issue too. Not a helpful video. I'm playing the latest patch and yes, mortars completely wreck that little camp. You can't get to them in time. And if you try to game the system, the mortars will just spawn in from a different location. Also, his camp wasn't getting hit in the rear from a stug/gren/flame pio combo, and flame pios were bothering to attack OPs when now they ignore OPs and go right for your infantry.

I played this mission about 100 times because it was on the demo and I couldn’t get the full game yet as a kid...

I dont really know about the new patch if you are asking that. Actually I played it around 2 years ago and even then I didn't update any patch. Now in the comments people are saying that this is not possible in the new patch. I dont want to comment on that but I believe if a game designer designs a mission, he always gives a way to do it.
Hahahahahha i feel like an idiot when i watch this.I think that i am only one person who didnt pass the bridge and set full defense around the town hall.How i finisehd this mission.With engineer squad running away from Germans and waititng last 10 seconds to pass
:D... dont worry ! I was there too and so would be everyone who is playing it for the first time. Slowly it becomes an obsession and you play this round with 100 different strategies... SAVE YOURSELF FROM THE TEMPTATION... This round was about to take me to a Psychiatrist :D;D

Yeah I kept beating the level but they keep sending their tanks to get wrecked before I can get the bronze star. Spawn killing them at the chokepoint never came to mind. How you get to full upkeep so quickly?
I dont think I had kept any secret there... yeah one thing... please watch the earlier round because you should do that round keeping in mind what you are going to face in the next. Keep in mind the locations of anti-tank guns and other weapons. Dont use them in 3rd mission and capture the checkpoints (ammunition depots) on the other side of the river. I think that's it. SCULL CONTROL it doesn’t help that they stop spawning the moment the reinforcement arrives. I scoured the entire map but outside of the tanks, there isn’t any other enemies. I even tried your method but because I was likely using the base DISK version, my spawn killing camp got fried even with a full lineup thanks to artillery. The soldiers running out of cover to hit the enemy didn’t help matters. Considering going on easy because it lowers the number needed. Normal has it at 250.
@@pigifi In comment section some people have complained that the version I had played was too old and there is a new patch. That might be the difference. I dont follow the game anymore so I dont have any idea about the new patch. Sorry friend !
