Good info, about to start restoring my Dad's 70 F100. He bought it the year I was born. I've got to replace the cracked dash pad and this was very helpful. I am amazed at how simple these trucks are, compared to modern designs.

That dash pad looked perfect. I'm not understanding why he wanted to take it out. Very rare to find one that's not destroyed by the sun.

You should do a video about daily driving the f100. Pros and cons, gas mileage, what not to do, cold starts (if it gets that cold) etc.

I did the same thing on my 1970 F100. I just go the vents out of the dash pad and screwed them into the metal dash. Worked perfect

Okay boys if you have a f100 with a fucked dash pad removing it is a 100% improvement. It’s kinda a pain but not hard I would recommend a ratchet with at least 10 inches of extension. It will take about 30 to 45 minutes but will improve the look some much I haven’t even thought of buying a new one I love the painted look of the dash with no pad.

I just took my dull hazy plastic lens out from the gauge cluster in the 69 f 250 I had twice the wiring behind that sucker ..... Its a camper special and I was like dang how much wiring do you need !!!! It had factory ac of course dont work 'blinkers don't work" dome light works"" "" cig lighter bonus ,, works I'm going to pull my dash off it was black someone put a green dash cap over it just like the one you had hate it .....
That gauge cluster is so much easier than my 66 to take off and put on lol
If you put a relay from the headlight switch and run heavier wires to headlights through relay, it will stop melting the switch.
I’m thinking about running no dash pad in my white 68. It looks awesome

I got my 72' back in 1990 it was missing the dash pad, kind of liking the look! But really need a Hillary for Prison sticker! WAY Cool :) BTW... my truck is seapine green metallic and plan on repainting it the original colour.

I own a 70 f100 sport custom. Its also my daily driver. That custom dash insert look sweet. Are those available online? good job on the how to dash removal.

Does the dash bezel faceplate thing come off of the part with the gauges? It looks like they’re two parts

Pedro Rodriguez I believe it's spot welded to the cab under the windshield frame.
What size speaker was under the dash. I have a 72 and mine is missing
