See, that's the thing, one of the things, that made Elvis Presley, the absolute King of Rock n Roll and the GOAT of all entertainers of all times! Elvis was not ever stuck up or too good for anybody. He always had time to say a few words to not only those close to him, who worked for him, the musicians, singers, etc... and of course the Memphis Mafia, Elvis would almost every afternoon / night stroll down to the gates of Graceland (or ride his motorcycle or ride his horse down there) and spend time talking and shootin the sh*t with his fans gathered out there on the sidewalk in front of the gate. Quite often, he'd remember somebody from a year or years ago who had vacationed to Memphis JUST to visit Graceland and hope Elvis would come down. He would remember their name, a little something about them from a year or 2 years ago, thank them for their support and friendship, etc.... In other words, Elvis embodied CLASS from head to toe. A total and complete gentleman at all times. And the very, very BEST entertainer of all times, who conquered all forms of media: TV, Movies, Live concerts, and yes, cable (there was no internet during his time on Earth). If there had been internet while Elvis was alive, he would have conquered that too. If you doubt it, just check out the social media outlets like Instagram ... Elvis is all over that social media, picture after picture, video clip after video clip. The man will never be replaced. There will never be another Elvis.

Such a vital part of the historical record of who Elvis is. This is just a regular, every-day conversation with some levity added. I believe this scene is in the concert film: "This is How It Is" which covers the prep and opening of his 1970 August shows in Vegas. Elvis worked too hard. The pace of unending Vegas shows and tours exacerbated his prescription drug use and led to his untimely demise. I wish he had done similar to the former band member whom he's discussing with the lovely ladies of the Sweet Inspirations.

Hey enlightened one you make a good point. There are others who are more talented musically but my point was that no one had such a presence or impact as Elvis. He was so influential & imitated. The first real bad boy of a new & upending musical genre called ROCK n ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure he does. It's been rumored Gladys had both Native American and Jewish ancestors in her family tree. Not an insignificant amount of racial, ethnic and religious mixing took place when it was taboo to do so, not spoken about with younger generations and leaving aspects of people's ancestry that remain murky.

Elvis was never prejudiced against black people. He never made that comment about the only thing a black man could do for him is shine his shoes. That was an urban rumor that has been floating around for years. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
