I was so lucky to meet him 3 times in England during the 70's , had lunch with him at his home in 2004 with his wife Marcia and he was a very kind , nice and lojal man to his fans and the best singer ever , no doubt...
I have a large LP collection of Frankie's. Been listening to him since I was a kid. Saw him live in Bournemouth England, early 80s. Loved him then, love him now.
I became close friends with Frankie Laine and Ray Barr, his musical conductor and arranger, in 1966 when he was appearing at The Commonwealth Club in Dallas, Texas. Frankie Laine had many dinners at our house in Dallas along with Ray. When Ray was recovering from surgery for a brain tumor, Frankie and I visited him in the hospital at the same time. In fact, I was the one who told Frankie that Ray wasn't going to make it. Each time when he appeared at the Venetian Room at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas we would plan to get together. I have many wonderful memories from those days.
I love Frankie Laine, my parents had an LP of him in the 1970's, my favourite song is, Cool Clear Water, what a Voice, he was a Beautiful Singer, R.I.P Legend...
Craig, I stumbled on to this website while preparing a lecture about Frankie as part of my course on the Big Band Era. What a fine service you've provided by putting together this montage. Once again, thanks to you for putting me in touch with Frankie for easily the most memorable of all the interviews I've conducted over the years. There couldn't have been a more gracious celebrity than Frankie.
Hi David! Thanks for your kind words, my friend! You're so welcome for getting you in touch with Frankie. I appreciate all the publicity you have given me on your wonderful radio program! I also write a monthly blog (have for over two years) as a member of Team Frankie Laine on the American Jaz Institute and Frankie Laine Team website: www.frankielaineteam.com Please keep in touch!
I have an old Frankie Laine 78 record from the late 50's. I have worn the "B" side of it almost smooth. I don't know what is on the "A" side, but on the B side is The Flying Dutchman! I have searched in vain on CZcams for it. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me on finding this song!
Check out my monthly blogs about my experiences with Frankie Laine and my feelings about his music: www.frankielaineteam.com - I have also written a book about my friendship with Frankie and my own life and musical career, which can be purchased around $4 electronically: www.lainebook.com - Craig Cronbaugh
I read that you found the video clip of Frankie Laine singing Blazing Saddles on the Academy Awards. I've looked everywhere and can't find it. Where did you find it? Do you have it on youtube anywhere? Thanks
Yes. I have the clip. Unfortunately, it is on VHS tape within my collection. I have not yet begun to go through and transform everything digitally yet.

The sad passing of Frankie Laine left a big void in the world of music. He was unique and is unforgettable.

What an amazing talent. I always thought his voice was gold.
Great footage. I particularly enjoyed the clip of To Each His Own.
Frankie Laine was my father's favourite singer, I guess that love was genetically passed on to me.
I loved his songs!

Brilliant-as good if not better than Sinatra. Beautiful tone.
