- Sew a zero waste* ruffle sleeve cocktail dress. The dress is a beginner-friendly sewing project, drafted on the fabric (no pattern needed), and sews up in a few hours!
This design is adapted from Mood Sewcity's Cadia Shirt www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-...
You will need 2 meters of fabric, min 115cm (45in) wide - it works best with a light-medium weight woven fabric (with some drape/not stiff).

* This design almost zero waste - there is a little waste from the neck-hole and some from the hem.

Learning to sew and how to do taxes should be part of the high school curriculum!!! Absolutely love this dress!!
If you have basic computer skills and reading comprehension you can do your own taxes. Schools definitely teach these things. Many schools also offer business classes, but maybe things are different in Canada.
Your dresses turned out so great! Thank you for sharing!
A new vlog from is the best way to start my morning 🌄💗💫🙂
I like to make scrunchies or wallets from leftover fabric! Especially scrunchies because they're so easy to make and I always use them/great gifts!
Love this type of simple sewing tutorial!
Super cute! You had me at those ruffle sleeves!!!😍🥰
They're so fun!
Wow!! Great job. Not easy for me, I have always struggled sewing clothes (and I have made some but there are always so many mess ups on them). I make quilts and love doing that. This was really cool to see being made though.
It happens to everyone! I've been sewing since I was a teenager and even studied sewing in university and I still mess up!
That is really great!@@MyGreenCloset
I love the idea of zero waste sewing! I do wonder though, cause I feel like I could make a zero waste dress out of a square, and it'd be great, but then if I added darts, it wouldn't be zero waste anymore. But the amount of fabric bought, it's carbon footprint, the functionality of the dress... Would be pretty much the same, right?
I mean ultimately it's way better to make a dress you and like and will wear a lot than it being zero waste. I think zero waste pattern are a cool concept, but it still needs to be a garment that you love.
