    I love tools that live in your bike, they're so convenient

  • @MancWithAMouth

    Compared to EDC non threaded Stem replacement version I've got tonsay EDC has definitely got the upper hand on this. It seems a lot of effort / rattle potential for tiny tool that could always be in your pocket / back pack

  • @geoffyoung7822
    @geoffyoung7822 Před 4 lety

    I fitted one too.
    I knocked the star nut down and shortened one of the bolts used that to fix the tool in place. Took about 5 minutes. Love having the multi tool always on the bike have fitted the chain breaker and bacon strip tool in the bars aswell job done.

    It’s like the EDC tool from one up but cheaper and you don’t have to thread your fork

    • @patrkauppine8904

      You dont have to thread your fork if you buy the stem but thats extra money

    If you used the bike stand and tilted the bike forward so that the head tube is 90-degrees / vertical, do you think that might help centralize the long bolt that flopped all over?

    • @ToogyHowser
      @ToogyHowser  Před 4 lety +3

    I would like this solution if you could tighten the bolt from the bottom. With this design, it would seem you'd be S.O.L. if the headset loosened on the ride (unless you carry a long hex wrench in your pocket).

  • @mtbboy1993
    @mtbboy1993 Před 2 lety +1

    8:20 I like this concept, but the issue is if your headset is loose, you can't tighten it on the trail, without two long hex keys, so that's something they need to solve. I guess it can be solved by having a shaped part that slots into a slot of that shape, and have different length, and have only one bolt at the bottom to tighten the headset. This is the only reason I did not go for it nor Granite Design Stash RT ratchet tool kit

    The concept and execution is great, no need to thread the steerer tube, it looks like it would be a good tool if you forgot your main tool but I don’t know if I would rely on this specific multi as my primary, seems minimalistic. How do you like it?

    • @ToogyHowser

    Are there drainage holes in the tool holder section and the flange of the lower part?
    Just curious if the seal of the tool into its holder is not watertight or if for whatever reason you ride without the tool.
    Guess you could drain it by turning the bike upside down.

      @mrsa101 Před 4 lety

      vaguely ? the installation method isn't though and that's the beauty. the one up is superior in tools but who wants to buy a special stem or thread the steerer?

    • @coryperemsky
      @coryperemsky Před 3 lety +1

      @@mrsa101 I would say the main problem with the edc kit is that it does not include the tap kit to install it so you have to fork out another 35 bucks. That to me is a rip-off. I think if edc included the tap with the toolkit and raised the price maybe ten bucks it would be a more appealing way to get everything. Tapping the steerer tube is really quite an easy task, it seems a lot scarier than it is.
