"It's Winter and everyone is starving and cold" - Nook 2020
Let's buy a fruit gatherer. Actually lets chop down all the fruit trees.
You said Banished meets Civ, but then things took a hard turn to Frostpunk with everyone freezing to death.
I mean, Banished had people freezing to death when Frostpunk was just a twinkle in 11 bit's eye...so I think it still checks out.
I swear this game is insanely punishing for absolutely no reason. My wood is used at the speed of light and gathered at the speed of a turtle. Then winter comes around all my villagers freeze to death.
@@mattcruse495 Insanely punishing? If you know beforehand that game has season mechanic, and you have even slightest idea of what _Banished_ is, you wouldn't call it that. Resource management and planning ahead? #gitgud
All that's missing is Crusader Kings 3's rulers and heir system. Then we would have the most advanced strategy Video game ever made.
Or the dumbed downed version of Old World which is already more similar to Civilization than CK3
Citizens having trait system.
Check out Manner Lords
It's amusing that the Immigration Office is one of the available buildings. These people haven't yet discovered pottery, but they already need bureaucracy!
Hey, ya can't just let anyone join yer lands, gotta keep the deplorables out.
Human civilisation and immigration started together so that came before pottery.
@@xxx10353 I doubt they had specialized immigration offices though - most likely the community simply had a meeting and decided whether to let the new guys join
@@alexeyvlasenko6622 I agree the immigration back then was rare most people stayed in their city for life the only mass immigration at the time was in great catastrophes or ethnic cleansing.
I've been waiting for this kind of game. Anno is the closest i had found, but the new one went epic exclusive.
You can get anno 1800 on Uplay. Its not the best, but it isnt epic at least.
I wish I could play latest Anno but my PC can't play it that's why I only play old game RTS, still fun
Bua! Bua! I want to play this game but it is EpIc ExClUsIvE! Bua! Bua!
This is like Anno and Stronghold had a baby, which when it grows up tells them it identifies as a card deck building game
I feel like it has some rimworld to it
Also kinda reminds me of transport fever, like the icons and everything
@@bosstin8 I'm reminded of St. John's Basilica -- it also has icons and everything... :/
Seems like y'all need to play banished
i’ve been waiting for a game like this for ages, glad someone is finally making it! cant wait to play!
Looks great, love it. Adds some things that Banished sorely needed. Hope there's combat.
there was mentions of military units in the tech tree from what i saw :D
Thank you for the content mate! This looks like the game I never knew I wanted.
Great game, great channel! Glad it came to recommended, subscribed. Time to binge Sands of Salazar
This game looks neat! I wishlisted it. Thanks for sharing. I'd definitely watch more.
Dude dude....Plant the pig farm... That place’s a gold mine for food.
"Plant the pig farm"
Plant the pigs. Harvest the bacon trees.
Really enjoyed this one, would love a series out of it :)
damn this game looks so interesting
The wave on beach hypnotize my eyes everytime you move the camera.
I normally don't care at all about early access games, but this looks like something I might be interested in .. it has some interesting ideas for sure, a pretty unique blend of genres as far as I'm aware .. now I just hope the developer hasn't bitten off more than he can chew
Absolutely more of this, super interesting simulation game.

and it's right next to the cannabis plot....
I would have started right there.

Looks more like "Civ" meets "Banished" meets "Kingdoms and Castles".
Wish they released these kind of games as full version and not today's standard of "pay us until we are satisfied enough to release Version 1" type of deals.
It might also be that they don't have a distribution deal and need money to get the game finished.
Like almost any of the decent new games are indie, made by a single dude in a basement (or close enough)
Yup. This is how you get niche games from indie developers. Giant corporations have tons of money. Indies, not so much.
Personally, I'm fine with taking a chance on an indie game - either in early development or on Kickstarter. Sure, it may never be worth playing. But that's the chance I'm willing to take. (If I wasn't, I'd just wait until it was finished. No one is holding a gun to my head. I don't _have_ to get it early.)
Instead of just buying a game, I figure I'm supporting game development - and specifically, the kinds of games I like. Again, I'm fine with that. But if you aren't, just wait until games are finished. It's all personal preference, so it's fine either way, don't you think?
I would only like that model if it were coupled with a "we're not gonna tell you about our game until we're a few months from completion" policy.
This looks awesome! More videos please!
Everything about this game looks awesome EXCEPT the card mechanics. I can only picture getting frustrated by not getting what you really need at some point. A nice large scale strategy game where you can't strategize as much.
Still needs some work but shows great promise. I am interested :D
actually looks like a really neat game
It looks amazing!
Is there terraforming/irrigation like in civilization where you can terraform a jungle square so it doesn't cause sickness anymore?
or a research tech that reducing disease that would make that first area you where thinking about more habitable?
Please give us more of Kingdoms Reborn!! :-o
This looks really fun!
The death of the cactus :( 19:27
Wow I love the look of this game
So excited !
I loved Anno and civ
Banished looked amazing too
Seems like an interesting new city builder. My only complaint is all the flashing stuff in the UI - can't be doing with the game bothering me about things (just let me choose when to click things). Hopefully they'll add an option to disable that.
It looks nice. I could see myself sinking 50 hours into it. I wishlisted it for when it is a finished product.
This game have a lot of pontential!
liking this game may pick it up if i see some more
I'd really like to see more. I like the direction it's headed in.
half the video im dying inside thinking "BUILD SOME ROADS" or "GET SOME HOUSES" thanks to banished
I love Banished, it was like survival colony building . Closest I found similair to Banished was Dawn of Man. This looks interest in and similair ..
Try forest village

This us pretty neat actually.
Civ, banished and Anno? I think i just nerdgasm'd.
Nice

More please!!!
Remind me of rimworld from the start. good stuff
nice music i think Nook turns the music down lol
I like how he has no wood and then he's like oh but we have this coal here but doesn't that need wood to make coal?
Nope, it’s a coal mine. No wood needed
Surviving the winter is a lot more difficult than I think 😅
I wish theres a fog of war or something for exploration
GIVE US MOAR ALMIGHY NOOK
Looked interesting at first but i really dont know about the card system.
yeah it's really stupid to arbitrarily limit the buildings you can build, not based on tech levels of available resources, but instead RANDOM CARD DRAWS, like, what? This is not a fucking card game, and card game mechanics have no place in a town builder/management strategy game. Just looks frustrating and unnecessary to me.
I agree. The card system failed this game. I love the idea of it except for the card system. They should've just use science tech tree to discover new buildings, resources, etc. If being unique is what they really want, they already have it since this game is the first survival game to feature "civilization-ish" and banished-like gameplay. (Ofc there is Anno, but being in the medieval era up to different kinds of era is kinda unique) Anyway, this is still on beta works, I do hope the dev will hear us. We are willing to pay this game anyway. 😊
Agreed. Immediately lost me with cards.
This could be very cool. Butt the cards.. reminds me of that lame island game with cards.
Love the concept of after the ice age so cool
I assume this wont be Free To Play. So, how much?
Cannibalism card cause I had a problem managing food 🤣🤣
15 min until the first house. god my loungs are angry at me for yelling at someone not placing any houses

Always choose a river. All Ainchent civilizations always started at a river

I don't understand how you get the extra money from the Pilgrim card if you replaced it with the sustainability card. Doesn't make sense.
Please please please genetics/inheritance system for citizen traits and family generation
I don't care if I have to upgrade my CPU
I've never played this game but from playing banished I would have gotten the forester early on when it was shown the first time.
I never played this game but I have played others similar and they all seem to have wood as very important especially early on so I always go with harvester fisher hunting lodge and stone query as early as I can when playing these types of games. that and a gatherer with all those fruit trees you chopped down I would have done fruit gatherer instead and not cut them down right away.
just from my experience of playing similar games. as I said I never played this game but I would have played it the same or at least similar to how I played other games.
Unless they fixed the forester it's incredibly bad. Best was (probably still is) wheat and herb card. You sell the herb card.
@@nillinx1234 the spot he chose though is bad for farming so wheat wouldn't grow even if he got the card from my understanding of the game.
I haven't played it so I could be wrong but that's what it sounds like.
otherwise I'd agree I usually go for farms asap in most games like this but due to him being in an area where farming isn't doable I wouldn't go for farming cards.
I was going to try a demo of the game and see what it's really like but I couldn't find one. I would buy the game but it looks like a game 'I'd probably only play a little bit then drop it for other games I have already and with money being short and winter coming up I couldn't afford to buy it anyway.
@@nillinx1234 I didn't know the forester was broken looked like it was working fine. but hopefully if it is broke they do fix it.
@@Sukotto82 My suggestion does come from 250h in the game so...
It really seemed like he hadn't played the game (much) before recording this...
One thing that seems a bit weird. If this is based on a medieval sort of period, why are all the towns built from scratch. Surely, there would already be towns there. I could understand if you are starting in the stone age like Civilization but not later on.
That UI and Art style really are close to what Banished had with maybe a bit more polish - is it the same Developer? Just saying if it is then that explains why Banished was left dead in the water not long after release
NoiCE
This is nice, but really wish banished had a multiplayer mode.
I don't wanna work double time in the coal mines. I just wanna eat an orange 😥

I guess I am the only Northgard player here. Alot of the Mechanics are just like Northgard
🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️ 😅
Yes. But Northgard's annoying population limit in each area is kinda annoying. 😅
I've been played this game last night..yeah...loved it..
Even i used cheat engine for the coin...😂
I didn't know i was part of this. . .
Is this online?or multiplayer..?
It's up to you, actually if you want to connect online. There's a multiplayer option but it's buggy and still under developed. Playing as a single player has some AI players though that will be your neighbors and it's up to you how many will they be. 😊
@@johnkevinsilagan9139 thanks for your info...👍👍
Ah so it’s a sequel to frost punk xD
It says that the region is bad for farming, so he buys a mushroom farm..... LoL
Mushroom farms don’t follow the same fertility rules, so they’re safe to place anywhere
@@Nookrium oh my, that's good to know, I'm thinking in getting the game when I get my paycheck
Why do games all have "cards" now? It's a really weird metaphor, considering most of them aren't otherwise presented as boardgames.
If you're going to have abstract unlockables, why frame them as another abstraction (playing cards) that's just as disconnected from the game world?
In the past five years or so a lot of tabletop game designers moved into videogame design and vice versa, or they've been playing each others games and working side by side a lot more. It's a useful mechanic for adding variance, but I prefer it as part of a whole deckbuilding mechanic (ie, in this case, you would add bought cards to your deck and then each time you'd get a chance of redrawing them after shuffling).
It would fit better if it was called plans, kingly favours or something flavourful, but maybe they aren't too bothered about abstracting things.
tried it, its nowhere near the optimization of banished and civ, and i played since dev era of banished. both games ran fine on my pc, yet this one seems to struggle a lot in terms of fps. Im not entirely against the card system nor liked it, gives a little challenge but then again having played exclusively on rts/city building games, it doesn't really add much to the genre. what they deemed an entirely unique mechanic turned out a so-so.

NIce game but for some reason Unity graphics turn me off so much.
THis game has the same problem as Banished has. Run out of either herbs or tools and you're fked. People will then drop like flies left and right.
But why ruin everything with cards?
@ice7997 and a nice random element to the gameplay i guess, could be fun in multiplayer also, hope we can enable /disable the feature
@@somerandompersonontheinter1835 I though it was a great way to introduce friction against continually re-rolling until you get exactly what you want.
@@somerandompersonontheinter1835 Pardon my naivety, I've never played a FTP. It would only make sense to me if it consumed in-game currency (and that -n-game currency could not be bough with real currency), anything else would be pay2win.
You know, this card aspect do remind me of 'Ratropolis', which is actually a pretty good game there, as long as there are no pay to win element
@@somerandompersonontheinter1835
I mean you DO realize that there are plenty of games out there that use RNG and increasing costs to rerolls without having microtransactions? Slay the spire (heck, most deck builders), Ratropolis, most Rougelikes. Cards and random effects themself are a completely different system from microtransactions, and there is nothing in this game so far that would indicate that something like that would be added, so where do you pull that from?
I love this kind of system, because if you have a static progression every game is the same. Look at civ where there is usually one viable building order and the rest is suboptimal. In this system you have to look at the option you have and decide which one of the available ones you use or if you reroll and risk having even worse options. It´s a risk-reward system vs static progression and monotony.
