Three years later, and you are still helping a person like me :) Thanks!
This was one of the most concise and well explained videos on lenses..thank you!
Thanks a lot, mate!
@@BigBadroid I 100% agreed to he said
Kindly come up with more of such clarity so that apprentice like us can feel well guided.
I am your new subscriber you
I have got one and it is perfect value for money. Very fair review!
Together with the AF-S DX Nikkor 85mm f/1.8G it is everything you will ever need if you are not into something like sports or bird photography.
What a great presentation! Just got this lens today, and this video really helped me understand all key points.
Man one of the very best review I have ever watched of this beautiful lens thanks
Means a lot! Thanks!
Great quick review. I wish you would have included some more samples of the lens at work though.
This is such a crisp review. Thanks for sharing. :)
Saneesh NP Always welcome dude :)
IMO, this is the best bang for your dollar! This lens takes sharp pics and definitely is a step up from the kit lens. I use this on my D5300 as my walk around lens and it's so versatile and is a low light wonder. Great video!
Thinking of buying this one for my own D5300, I dont like the 50mm I have for it because it gets cropped to about 80mm.
same set up with me...sharp and perfect..in my case I could afford only this much
i also have a D5300 Nikon camera and i got this lens. though i have an issue with it, i don't know if you guys have the same issue. when i auto focus using the field view, the subject gets blurry and the back of the subject gets the clear focus. but when i focus using the screen, i get the perfect focus. have you guys noticed this issue with your D5300?
@@SubShift Yes
Good review, I picked this up about a month ago and it's a gem in low light. One thing to note though, you've compared the auto focus speed and sound to the old kit lens - the af-s. The newer af-p kit lenses are blazing fast, the 35mm doesn't even come close.
What a helpful video!!! (Also, I love your accent and could listen to it all day!!) :)
Thank you so much. Glad it helped you :D
hi!When using this 35mm focus, my camera (d5600)will generate a lot of noise. When switching to manual focus, the manual focus ring will also become hard (compared to 18-55vr). I don't know if this is normal. Thank you for your answer!
Good video bro,you explained everything well:-)❤️
well explained! great video!
S.R Maniac thanks. :D
Great video! Nicely explained!
Thank You :D
Well explained,
Thanks.
I will go for it.

Dude, your video is great!
Thanks a lot dude :D
Thank you, my friend. 🤙🏽 Very helpful.
great review man!
Android boy geek expert Thanks bro
Is it compatible for Nikon d 3500?
Kindly confirm
Yes, I am really glad I got this lens. I am a total noob just starting in photography, got a D7200 body (I didnt want a kit lens I'll never use) so on this one I am finding with all the review, was a lucky guess to go along with my other lenses, including the Nifty Fifty.
Awesome! But tbh, don't underestimate the kit lens. It can be stellar in a lot of aspects. Most of the videos on my channel are shot using kit lenses of the cameras I've used
This was very helpful!! Thank you
I'm glad it helped :)
Compatible with D5600 ??
On a 35 mm camera ( full frame ) 35mm is a wide angle lens. A crop camera uses 28mm as it's std size, so what is the equivalent wide angle size to give the original 35mm on a dx camera? 21mm?.
Amazing informative video!
STPHD Thanks :D
I've been using the same lens for my D5500 since like a year ago. I absolutely love it. And yeah, that focus ring is kinda sucky but other than that I really don't have any complaints.
Same, no complaints. afterall, its not that big of a hassle and the price I paid for it compensates all those drawbacks
Awesome explanation! Just picked one up for my D5300. What equipment did you use for your video explanation? Thx.
Thank you :)
I used a D5200 and a kit lens
Good review. Thanks mate
spanos1011 you're welcome
Hello can i use this lems for Nikon D810?
Have this on my d7200 . Good lens and good video
Loved this one
Anubhav Roy :D thank you
I am using trying to it for vlogging but either foreground or background is getting blurred in doing so. What to do to that none of it gets blurred?
you'll need to decrease the aperture in ur camera itself. for everything to be in focus, go f4 or f7. You'll also need to compensate for that by increasing the ISO or lowering the shutter speed so that the video isnt very dark
Just purchased after watching this video so thank you 👍
Excellent review!
Thanks man, really appreciate it :')
Hey brother is it working with my Nikon D5000?
Nicely Explained 😊
TechTrek Thanks :)
man thanks for the info do you know how to get a nice blur in a recording video what setting should I use
Use your aperture as widely open as possible. Make sure the product is in perfect focus. If the lens zooms, zoom in all the way and be as close to the subject as possible. For smooth video, use exactly 1/2xframerate as your shutter speed and voila!
Confused between 50 mm and 35mm. Please help.
Will this work for the D3500? I bought a nikkor 50mm 1.8d and it says incompatible lens and only works in manual mode, I’m guessing due to the autofocus. I’m new to all of this so I want to make sure this af-s lens would work on my d3500 before buying it. Any help will be greatly appreciated !!!
Yes g version has autofocus...d version has only manual
Well done, great info.
tony Stone thank you
Is it good bokeh on nikon d 3400? :)
Is this a wide lens?
Thanks for the video.
Recently bought this but it has a high pitched noise aside from the normal noise when focusing, is it normal?
A high pitched noise seems odd. Never really had that issue :/
Very good video!!! Crisp and clear
I'm glad you liked it :D
Awesome video!!!
Bro usme stabilization hai kya
great and informative video bravo
Will the Auto focus work on my D3100?
Yup
I'm confused. Why do other models have hard stops on both ends of the focus ring?
Peter Vasquez This had subtle stops. That denotes the slightly lower build quality. This is done to reduce the cost and make the lens affordable
awesome video well explained
I thought af-p is better than af-s
very well explained bro 👏
devvkanth musunoru Thank you :D
Which prime lens is an ideal for Nikon 7200;
Nikon DX 35mm f/1.8G AF-S Standard Lens
or
Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S Standard Lens
or
Nikon FX 50mm f/1.8D AF Standard Lens
or
Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S Standard Lens
or
Nikon AF-S 40mm f/2.8 G DX Compact NIKKOR Lens
or
????
Your comments are much appreciated.
since ur camera has a crop factor of 1.25x while shooting at the highest rez, I'd say take a 30 mil, if not, you should go for the 40. 50 is a bit too zoomed in (especially for my liking), hence, I'd say a 30 or a 24mil if U can afford that
Thank you!!! Yes!!!!
This is a DX lens. So, does this lens work as 52mm on D5600 camera or it works as 35mm only?
A 35mm focal length lens is a 35mm focal length lens. :) The focal length is a property of the lens like the weight or its seize. This is completely independent on which camera it is mounted. Even without any camera the focal length is 35mm.
*By tradition* the optical effect of a lens on different bodies is given as a value what the equivalent on a fullframe camera would be.
So - this lens has a focal length of 35mm and on a DX camera the resulting photos would be equivalent to a 52mm lens on a full frame camera.
If you would somehow mount this lens in front of a smartphone sensor it would be equivalent to a nice 300mm tele ;)
i want to buy a nikon d5300 and i dont know what lens to get.
i have money only for one lens so or the kit lens or this one which is a little bit more expensive but its still cheap.
i only take still pictures and i want a lens for everything except macro (landscape, a little bit portraits, low light, street photography...)
can you help?
You might want to invest in a zoom lens for landscape shots, but other than that, for portraits, low light and street, the 35mm f1.8 would be perfect. If you want to get a bit more zoomed in pictures, a 50mm f1.8 should be a good choice as well
@@BigBadroid ok i will consider that, thx
This is one of the best lens you can get for Nikon APS-C imho.
explanation was to the point, loved the clean look.try to work on the voice-overs a bit and you will have a superb video
Tech Extract Sure! thanks :D
Nice video! I bought both 35mm and 50mm for my d5500. Both equally good, but my pictures always turn out better from the 50mm.
Jordie84 hey can you help me
Which one should i buy 35mm or 50mm for my nikon d5300
Excellent say and I got clear cut ideas
I got Wat I expected through video
That is I shot using 1.8 and I found it is not sharp, and now the doubt is cleared
I start shooting with 2.4 or 2.8
Awesome! Hope you're enjoying the lens
Nice job great explanation....
Which one should i buy 35mm dx 1.8 or 50mm 1.8 plz tell me
Thanks :D
Take the 35mm DX if you have a crop sensor camera, if not, go for the 50
Doesn't DX mean it's made for DX camera and would still be 35mm on crop ? I understand what a crop camera is but tried to find out on google but no clear answer , surley if nikon sell a lens that is 35mm DX , that would mean it's 35mm on a DX camera and wider on an full frame camera ?
Ok so to answer my own question I found out 35mm is the size of the lens so ,the X1.6 will still apply ...I think :-/
BoB Smith yes no matter what focal length lens you get, once you put it on a dx sensor you have to multiply it by 1.5.
www.nikonusa.com/en/learn-and-explore/a/products-and-innovation/the-dx-and-fx-formats.html
No. A 35mm focus lens has 35mm focus. This has nothing to do with the camera behind it. It is a technical attribute of the optical system lens.
Like a certain person weighs 75kg. It doesn't matter if the person sits in a huge bus or on a small moped.
What is different is the effect of this 35mm focus on the resulting photo with different sensors. For a middle format camera 35mm focus is really wide angle. For a camera in a smartphone it would be a long tele lens.
which camera do u use ?
Tech Lucifer Nikon D5200
How about AF for Nikon d3100?
Great video btw. 👍
Hey, im an automotive photographer and i would like to know if i can get a blurry DoF shooting cars with a distance far enough to fit the car in the photo with this lens and a d3200. Thanks!
Diego Aponte You would get a decent blur but I'd suggest you to go with a different, much wider lens. That would help u stay closer to the subject and still get it in frame completely. Try a 28mm f.18 lens
Thanks for the suggestion!
Diego Aponte no worries mate
can we take wide angle photos with this lens ?
Wide protraits for one person? Yes. Wide group shot? Probably shouldn't be your first choice. You'd have to pretty far from your subject to give the feel of a wide angle lens.
Thank you.
What type of body do you use...?
battu tulu D5200 (A crop sensor)
start of this video so beautifull
I have the 10-20 mm lense is this lense needed for me
You could benefit from it, yes. But it also depends on the type of photography u do
beautiful .
In which camera you shooted the vedeo for making this vedeo🤔🤔🤔please reply

@@BigBadroid can we get this kind of blur effects in nikon d5600🤔🤔🤔
@@editingchannel1015 definitely!
I have encountered an issue with the Auto-Focus not working???
Robert Walker Try changing the AF mode. Dont select Single Servo, that causes that problem as it focuses only when the shutter button is half way pressed.
I have switched from MA to M and back, sometimes it focuses sometime nothing. Where or what is Single Servo mode, is that a Focusing mode? I am a Beginner
Robert Walker Press the "i" button on your camera. on the screen, you'll see multiple options. on the left side, there will be 2 options related to Autofocus- AF mode and AF Area. Change the AF mode to something other than the "single servo"
What is better for beggining? Nikkor 18-55m af-p or 35mm af-s?
does this fit on nikon D3500?
Sure should
This one works on Nikon D7200?
Yes. Its an APS-C Sensor. Should work just fine
Would anyone know if this compatible with Nikon D5600?
It is.
Thank you
So used on a crop sensor this lens is actually a 50mm lens correct?
jay peso Yes
I also have a M43 camera with a 25mm lens for it, comparing that to my full frame 50mm, they are exactly the same in the framing. Even though the 25mm says its for a m43 system, it gives us a 50mm focal. The focal lengths on the lenses are not written according to the cameras but the glass of the lens itself. This can be confusing, but that's what it is.
Why the image shows 3.5F...??? In Prime max F1. 8 right??
Just because the highest it goes is 1.8 doesn't mean it can't go down to F3.5 or F22 even.
You litrely deserve more..
Excellent
"g stand for guelderd"??
Anybody have any low-light lens recommendations for a D3300 that's better than this one? I've been reading mixed reviews on this lens, the stock lens I have maxes out at 3.5 & ISO needs to be jacked to 3600 to even take decent photo's low-light.
nice video!! is this lense compatible with a nikon d3300?
Sure is
BigBadroid ok thank you :)
@@ninazappellaz3141 no worries :) here to help
Great performance at that price..
But it's very fragile.. The AF motor gets damaged easily with little rough usage (not dropping obviously) like travelling on a bumpy road on a motorcycle..
So handle with care...
In d5600 will it work as 50mm??
Basically yes because it's not a full frame camera
No, Its DX it won't have 1.5 cropping factor on crop sensor.
Well explained bud!
TechDevoted Thanks :D
I didn’t really understand the crop sensor thingy... I have a Nikon d5200 so what’s gonna happen? 🤔😅
Right. So the D5200 is a crop sensored camera, meaning that it will have about a 2.4 time crop as compared to a full frame camera ( which is the full format we compare other camera sensor sizes to). Since the lenses are glasses that work in ways to bend light and project a certain field of view of images, the full frame sensors usually tend to capture every bit of the information of the lens throws at it. Since a crop sensored camera is smaller, it doesn't take the full information but only a little lesser. Think of it as a circular image getting projected on a rectangular plane whose corners are the diameter of the circle- That's a full frame. And when u reduce the size of the rectangle, it punches in to the image (crops in).
So when u use ur crop sensored D5200 camera with this lens. You'll get a slightly more zoomed in version of the image you would get on a full frame with the same picture quality and lens performance.
BigBadroid Oh okay that you for your detailed message! Do you know how much Zimmer in? Like 52mm or even higher?
@@16phil16 It's 52.5mm exactly
BigBadroid okay that’s not too bad! :) is there any solution to get a bit more of the pic?
@@16phil16 unfortunately no

On my D300 90% of the time, great lens !!!!!!!!
great lens indeed
Can we use them for StarTrails
Definitely can.
@@BigBadroid thanks buddy .... Will 50 mm can be used star trail just checking
You can use any lens Because star trails depend of ur shutter speed. Not the camera lens really. The lens determines the look you're going for
Can I use this for Sony a6000?
With an adapter, yes
@@BigBadroid Alright. Thank you.
Detailed specification video.. thank you
You're very welcome
bro the lens says f/1.8 is the maximum aperture. how did you set it to f/2.8?
The Smaller the number- The Bigger the aperture. Hence, you can set the aperture to 2.8, 3.5 or even f22, but not any higher (or numerically smaller) than 1.8.
and what about only af-s lens no DX written on it
Sanjual Kaul That's a full frame 35mm lens for full frame sensors.
Is this a wide-angle lens....?
Its not a wide angle lens. Its wider than a 50mm, but personally, wide angle lenses start from 28mm and then they go down in number from there. So 28mm/25mm/22/18/18/12/8mm these are all wide to ultra wide

Thank you for your expeditious response....
