    I totally understand not wanting to do tutorials, teaching is a skill in itself and sometimes it's scary to come up with a concept that really hasn't been done before. You're honestly one of the few artists I follow that is so genuine and very real about this career. It's a breath of fresh air!

    If you're looking for an "easy" video during your busy time, I'd love a little tour of your American girl dolls and the outfits you made for them.
    Also, I am a water drinker too. Lukewarm water always. Sometimes some tea but mainly just water, it's just what I like haha.

    Not every artist needs to do tutorials, there's already so many out there and it's ok!

    i love the way you do your brushstrokes and lines and even writing! it looks so gorgeous just watching your hand, whether you're painting, sketching, or writing. i take lots of inspiration from the way you fill your sketchbooks :))

    And I feel like me included so many people are too scared of even TRYING doing something on their own without guidance, and that hinders the discovery of our own artistic voice, it's a shame... I'll try doing stuff on my own first from now on

    I totally understand not wanting to do tutorials, and I have definitely gotten very tired of searching for how to videos to improve my art.
    I just know that personally, when I want to try something new - like a new medium, a lot of the time I have THE FEAR of "I have no idea how to even start" that is a FROZEN kind of fear and I just end up with the material I really want to use just sitting there, waiting to be played with and figured out, but I don't know how... does that make sense?
    Maybe instead of a tutorial type video, you might consider a "How I play with and get to know a new art medium/style" type video ?
    That's something that I have always looked for and never really found.

    • @jaidadraco
      @jaidadraco Před 3 měsíci +1

      Obviously not that you have to, but I was thinking that just a let's play around with some new supplies/styles doodle practice might be an easy video to do? As a non-video maker, that may be a very wrong idea - so of course, no pressure.
      You're busy. Do whatever makes you feel good, and I feel very worried that I said the wrong thing so I am going to go evaporate and turn into dust now... bye!

    • @Lilstarnerd
      @Lilstarnerd  Před 3 měsíci +2

      omg don't worry hahaha i appreciate you!!!!! that is a really really good idea for a video, i'll think on it and see if i have anything useful to share!!!

      Dear anyone overwhelmed with a medium:
      It's wild that this reply happened now, because I finally after attempting and failing for 6 months, spent 2 days actually starting to develop a new art skill - drawing digitally. I know it's not the same as being a traditional artist venturing into a different traditional medium, but I have found it so overwhelming and basically impossible because there are 2 types of videos. Intro to digitally drawing where they go through all the tools in such a rapid speed there is no way I'm going to remember any of that, or here is how to do a special and very specific rendering technique for creating niche textures.
      (Which is the same problem I run into when trying out any medium and why I made the original post)
      I don't know whether my specific brain doesn't work well that way, but I kept thinking that what I wanted was like a 30 day intro to digital drawing, where every day you are given a specific thing to draw and specific tools and effects to focus on - gradually developing to more and more complex concepts.
      I finally did it myself - on accident, because an artist I like posted a comic with a cute character and I was like - hey this still is in black and white, maybe I can recreate this - as "fanart" while figuring out the basics of lining and coloring... AND IT WORKED PHENOMENALLY! After 6 months of struggling and lack of motivation, I went in with a small specific goal - I taught myself a few basics to create a small snapshot of a cute character - and for once it didn't look like I was a 3 year old drawing with my feet, rather than an adult who has enjoyed art as a hobby my entire life.
      So now I plan on a little at a time, go on pinterest, choose a little character, subject, or figure and do my best to discover new tools, shortcuts, etc. and slowly build up my understanding of the medium.
      For some reason, when I'm just trying to create, I can't do it. But when I have a specific end look in mind, I can figure it out and slowly build up those skills!
      Anyway, sorry for such a long response, but I feel like this is exactly what I've been trying to articulate about what sort of things I look for in help yourself to learn new art skills/mediums. Having small, goal-oriented tasks, where mastering a specific technique by creating a specific end goal (of course with any and all artistic license taken since this is just practice for me, not art to make, share and sell).
      Since I've been struggling with this for a lot of specific skills and mediums that I don't really feel completely comfortable with, I feel like I just unlocked a huge Eureka moment and had to share.
