    Peaceful, nice to be almost the only boat moving on the canal. Good view of cutie Midge at the end!

    A pleasant afternoon of canal cruising , the Devon drizzle gave me a good excuse to stay in the dry. I see those Red Arrows are out again, practicing for their summer air displays, I hope they give you a complementary ticket....Per Astra Per Canal Per Haps

    Hi phill
    Nice video thank you, you not far off the 3000 subs now I see, I don't understand why you have the views but people don't click the like button it don't make sense. Do you have a washing machine on your boat to do your laundry?

      Oh yes, very high-tech! czcams.com/video/7Dttd6pbQCA/video.html Mostly it's easier to handwash things in a bowl.

    Good morning Phil. Nice gentle cruise, thank you. The right hand bank for a good way past bridge 43 seems to be extremely overgrown. I'm guessing that to cut this back far enough to make any significant improvement would take many hundreds of man hours by the CRT or many thousands of pounds if contractors were brought in, is this why it's been neglected, or is it a matter of jurisdiction ? If this keeps getting worse with new growth and more fallen trees at what point do the CRT have to bite the bullet and tackle the problem ? I'm no boater but it looks to me as though navigation would be compromised if there was a boat, or several, moored on the towpath and two boats met in opposite directions at these pinch points. Generally speaking when and if the overgrown trees etc are cut back does the canal bottom then require dredging to restore the Cut to its full width.
    Seems as though those visitors must have a secret base somewhere nearby eh ?

      The last I heard was that there were over 50,000 outstanding maintenance jobs on the canal system. They usually wait until something breaks before fixing it. Vegetation, dredging etc is a problem all over the system. It's a matter of misplaced priorities, they will spend tens of thousands of pounds in legal fees just to remove one boat from the canal because it doesn't have a licence!

      @@NarrowboatJourneys That must be extremely frustrating, especially for all the proper boaters that actually navigate the Cut. Generally speaking the towpaths appear to benefit from most of the maintenance, I'm guessing that's to ward off litigation if someone stubs their toe or trips over a twig. Really enjoy all your videos and often use your other channel as a real time stress buster. Regards.

      The towpaths in many places are even worse.

      @@NarrowboatJourneys That surprises me. As an armchair boater who only enjoys the Cut vicariously I don't remember seeing much of that. With the exception of Minimal Lists urban exploits I seem to see only the better side of things.Thanks for your replies. More of Bushka and Midge please.

    I love your videos Sir. I was wondering if there's a code of conduct when travelling through a tunnel? . Is it expected one boat sticks to the right or left based on what direction they approach the tunnel from. Thanks. Good luck

    • @NarrowboatJourneys
      @NarrowboatJourneys  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you. In tunnels we pass on the right, same as usual, but not all tunnels are wide enough for two way traffic. You have to look and see if the tunnel is clear before you enter. Or, if it is a really long tunnel there will be a CRT attendant at each end directing boats.
